2 Workshop II - Gait Analysis and Orthotic Fabrication 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM Buchanan Room 3 CEU s Limit: 40 Cost: $45.00 non NATA members-$75.00 In this hands on workshop you will learn how to perform a gait analysis, what conditions can arise from an altered gait and how to determine what steps you need to take to correct an improper gate. You will also learn how to, and practice, fabricating orthotics to correct gait problems. Come dressed for activity. The group will be split into 3 smaller groups. Each group will have an ankle to work with. All individuals will have opportunities to participate in the dissection of the specimen. This will be a great opportunity to review the anatomy of the ankle. 3 Saturday, January 12, 2008 Workshop V - Manual Medicine 8AM-10AM Conestoga Room 2 CEU s Limit: 30 This workshop will present the use of manual medicine in the athletic training room. This will be a hands-on workshop covering topics such as stingers/burners, rib dysfunction, scapular dysfunction ankle sprains, myofascial unwinding, and lymphatic drainage. Presenter: Dr. James Frommer, Lehigh Valley Institute of Sports and Musculoskeletal Medicine, Bethlehem, PA, Team Physician Moravian College Workshop VI - Acupuncture 8AM-10AM Quaker Room 2 CEU s Limit: 50 Acupuncture has long been an acceptable medical treatment in Eastern cultures. In this workshop you will discuss the use of acupuncture in the treatment of athletic injuries. Presenter: Dr. Michael Krafczyk, St. Luke s Family Practice Center, St. Luke s Primary Care Sports Medicine, Bethlehem, PA, Team Physician Muhlenberg College Workshop VII - Evaluation of Atypical Injuries 8AM-10AM Hemlock Room 2 CEU s Limit: 75 We are all well versed in the treatment of sprains and strains but what about those uncommon injuries and illnesses, appendicitis, spleen contusion, etc. In this workshop you will discuss the injuries that we do not see that often but need to be able to recognize and treat. 4 Sunday, January 13, 2008 Workshop IX - Establishing Environmental Protocols 7:30AM-9:00AM Conestoga 1.5 CEU s Limit: 75 Over the years it seams that the athletic seasons are starting sooner and lasting longer. We now not only have to deal with the athletes and their injuries but we also need to be aware of the environment that they are practicing and playing in. This workshop will help you to develop environmental protocols to help protect your athletes in your particular work setting.
