1 İSTANBUL ŞEHİR UNIVERSITY CONTENT OF TURKISH FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS COURSE PROGRAM Turkish course for international students covers A1, A2 and B1 levels. The course will take 14 weeks and each course program is 90 hours. Turkish courses are planned as 4 days a week and 5 classes of 50 minutes daily. Furthermore, the program also includes block classes. Courses are carried out by the instructors of Turkish Language and lecturing assistants. After completing this 270-hour-training, students will reach an intermediate level in Turkish reading, writing, listening, speaking and grammar. By this assigment-focused, communicative course which centers on student, students will master in fundamental language skills in Turkish, will recognize the Turkish culture and other different cultures while having the chance to introduce their own cultures. The aim of the program is to enable students develop visual presentation and visual reading (monitoring) skills for a more effective communication in social and academic life at the end of the Turkish education. In this vein, students are expected to make a presentation about their own culture in a 10-hour course program. This will help students to express themselves in a more qualified manner in their academic life and in a more confident manner in their social life. Apart from this program, students are also encouraged to participate in culture trips, conferences, movie days and music recitals organized by our University, so that they can learn while experiencing new things in their life outside the classroom. Therefore, permanent learning becomes real for the students. Within this context, students who participate in the 270-hour-education during 14 weeks will be able to develop their Turkish language skills by a communicative and intercultural approach. 2 İSTANBUL ŞEHİR UNIVERSITY SYLLABUS OF THE TURKISH FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS COURSE Instructor of Turkish Language: Gökçen GÖÇEN* At the end of the Turkish course which has been planned as 280 hours in 14 weeks for the A1, A2, and B1 proficiency, students will have the Turkish language skills and will also have the chance of recognizing the Turkish culture and introducing their own culture. Turkish language program has been planned considering the the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and European Language Portfolio. The course material used during the teaching process of Turkish has been prepared in accordance with the "Common European Language Criteria". In addition, the course materials are regularly reviewed and revised based on the students needs. Turkish course materials are as follows: Aslan, F. (Editör). (2012). Assessment: Assessment is based on student s participation, quizes given after each subject, assignments given by the course instructor, exams given after each level. At the end of the program, students are expected to make a presentation introducing their culture. In this context, Turkish course includes a process, assignment and success-focused measurement. Within this process, the instructor and the student will be in contact and the instructor will give the students feedback for better success. Distribution of the total course grade is as follows:

After completing her primary and secondary education in Çanakkale, she graduated from Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Turkish Language and Literature department in Afterwards, she graduated from Eskişehir Osmangazi University Social Case Education, Teaching Turkish Language and Literature MA program in After she had completed her MA degree in Teaching Turkish Language at Sakarya University in Göçen started her teaching career at İstanbul University Language Center as a teacher of Turkish for foreigners. In 2012, she was accepted for doctoral program in Teaching Turkish at Sakarya University. She has continued her academic studies on teaching Turkish since then.currently, Göçen is teaching Turkish to foreigners at İstanbul Şehir University while carrying on her studies and education at the same time.
