4 Erasmus+: Some figures Programme period: 2014 to 2020; Overall E+ budget (heading 1): billion EUR (plus 40 %); 77.5 % for education and training (min. 43 % for higher education = 4.9 billion EUR); 63 % for learning mobility (KA1/H.E.: 594 million EUR for 2014/15) and 28 % for partnerships (KA2/H.E. 2014/15: Strategic Partnerships 38.3 million EUR and Knowledge Alliances 6.1 million EUR); Who can participate? 33 programme countries (EU-28, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Turkey, FYR Macedonia) and in some actions Partner Countries. 4

Credit mobility: International opening of Erasmus, more mobility of students and staff between EU non EU in both directions 2. Degree mobility: Joint Master courses of excellent quality offered by consortium of EU/non EU universities to attract the very best students worldwide 3. 6 Erasmus+ mobility in higher education (1) Erasmus+ standard: Intra-European mobility (3-12 months) of students (studies, traineeships and staff (teaching, training), enterprise staff from abroad (teaching assignments) New elements highly appreciated by Germany: Multiple grants for students (in each study cycle) Traineeships 2-12 months Teaching assistantships for students (ex-comenius) Recent graduate mobility (gap mobility for traineeships, ex-leonardo) Staff mobility 2 days to 2 months (for TA min. 8 hours) Mobility consortia 6

7 Erasmus+ mobility in Erasmus+ (2) Erasmus+ international: International mobility (beyond Europe) of students (studies, traineeships) and staff (teaching, training) New: This measure is a new decentralised measure (ex- Erasmus Mundus A2). According to the different financial instruments there will be specific regional limitations for mobility. This measure will be administered similar to measure (1). Exceptions: Minimum duration of 5 days (excluding travel) for staff; no traineeships in the first programme years. International mobility will start in the academic year 2015/2016. The number of grantees will be low due to limited budget. 7

9 Erasmus+: Strategic Partnerships What is a Strategic Partnership in Erasmus+? A cooperation network bringing together institutions/ organisations active in the fields of education, training and/or youth, as well as enterprises, research institutes, public authorities, social partners etc. with the aim of cooperating in order to implement innovative practices leading to high quality teaching, training, learning and youth work, institutional modernisation and societal innovation. (Erasmus+ Programme Guide, p. 95) Strategic Partnerships can be mono-sectoral or cross-sectoral. 9

Example: Module 1: Coordination, communication, information, promotion etc. Module 2: Participation in meetings between project partners (travel/subsistence costs) Module 3: Development of joint curricula, It tools, analyses, studies etc. Module 4: Conferences/events to disseminate the intellectual outputs Module 5: Long-term teaching/training assignments, Intensive Programmes Module 6: Sub-contracting (e.g. translation, IT support) Module 7: Costs related to participants with special needs (disabilities) 10
