Investigator, The Workload and Dangers of Police Work. Examined issues related to the homicide, mortality, and workload of police officers (March 2010 to September 2011). Work Performed for the Detroit (MI) Police Officers Association. Research Partner, U.S. Attorney s Office, Project Safe Neighborhoods, City of Milwaukee Homicide Review Commission. Participate in review meetings to analyze trends and circumstances in homicides and shootings in Milwaukee (April 2005 to present). Co-Principal Investigator, Milwaukee Public Schools, Safe Schools Healthy Students. Evaluated numerous school-based initiatives designed to reduce violence in schools. Two year projected funded by the U.S. Department of Education, $200,000 (November 2007 to December 2009). 6

7 Principal Investigator, An Analysis of Guns Seized by the Milwaukee Police Department. Collected and analyzed data on guns confiscated by the Milwaukee Police Department in Project funded by The Joyce Foundation, $20,000 (September 2006 to December 2007). Investigator/Consultant, Organizational Climate in the Milwaukee Police and Fire Departments. Collected and analyzed survey data on workplace climate from all employees in both departments. The study was commissioned by the City of Milwaukee Fire and Police Commission (March 2004 to March 2005). Investigator/Consultant, Power Shift Study. Examined the effects of the elimination of the Late Power Shift in Districts Two and Five in the Milwaukee Police Department. Work performed for the Milwaukee Police Department (March 2004 to October 2004). Co-Investigator/Consultant, An Evaluation of the Felony Drug Offender Alternative to Prison Program. Evaluated the impact of an alternative to prison program on program participants. Work performed for the Wisconsin Department of Corrections (March 2001 to May 2003). Co-Investigator/Consultant, An Evaluation of Southern Oaks Girls School Stepping Up- Intensive Treatment Program. Examined the impact of an intensive treatment program on psychological and behavioral outcomes of participants. Work performed for the Wisconsin Department of Corrections (March 2000 to November 2001). Principal Investigator/Consultant, An Evaluation of a School-Based Intervention to Reduce Crime and Improve Perceptions of Safety. Directed this study to examine the impact of a diversion program on crime and disorder, and perceptions of fear and safety among students and staff at Glen Hills Middle School (Glendale, WI). Funded through the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (October 1998 to December 2000). Principal Investigator/Consultant, The Impact of a Crime Analysis Capability in Patrol Cars. Directed this study to examine the impact of computer technology on crime control and citizens perceptions of safety outcomes in the Glendale (WI) Police Department. Funded through the U.S. Department of Justice Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (January 1998 to November 1999). Co-investigator/Consultant, City of Milwaukee Municipal Court Workload Study. Examined issues related to court workload and case processing in the Milwaukee Municipal Court. Work performed for the City of Milwaukee (December 1998 to June 1999). Site Director, A Study of Homicide Investigations. Coordinated the Milwaukee site of this four city (Baltimore, Detroit, Los Angeles, Milwaukee) study of the factors influencing the outcomes of homicide investigations. Funded by the National Institute of Justice through the University of Maryland (September 1997 to December 1998). 7

8 Principal Investigator, Substance Abuse and Need for Treatment among Arrestees in Wisconsin. Directed this statewide assessment of substance abuse and need for treatment among offenders which used a modified Drug Use Forecasting approach. D.E. Barlow and M.H. Barlow were co-investigators. Funded by the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) through the Wisconsin Correctional Service and the Wisconsin Department of Health and Human Services (January 1996 to January 1998). Consultant, National Evaluation of the Youth Firearms Violence Initiative. Served as a local member of the Abt Associates national evaluation team to assess the gun violence reduction efforts of the Milwaukee Police Department. Funded through the National Institute of Justice (March 1996 to December 1996). Consultant, Citizens Complaints about Excessive Force. Identified and analyzed patterns and trends in citizen complaints of excessive force by City of Chicago police officers. Work performed for the City of Chicago (March 1993 to October 1993).
