USF St. Petersburg, Campus Representative to the National Forensic Sciences Technology Center, Largo, Florida Member, Steering Committee for the Lexington County Adult Drug Court, Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court, Lexington, SC Juvenile Arbitrator From 1997 to 2001 I served as an arbitrator in the Lexington County Juvenile Arbitration Program---a diversion option that allows fist-time juvenile offenders to complete a voluntary contract as an alternative to entering the family court system. As an arbitrator I was responsible for meeting with the juvenile, his/her parents, the arresting officer and the complainant and then designing a contract for the juvenile. It was my responsibility to verify that a contract has been completed within 90 days and then to notify the family court so that the youth's record could be cleared or, if the contract was not completed, could be taken back to court. I averaged one arbitration case a month. Director of the Mobile Environmental Youth Corps From October of 1992 until September of 1993 I served as Director of the Mobile Environmental Youth Corps (EYC) juvenile boot camp program. The EYC was established as a prototype juvenile boot camp program with funding from the US Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP). It is administered through a partnership between the Boys and Girls Clubs of Mobile and the Juvenile Court of Mobile County. The EYC is now one of the oldest and largest juvenile boot camp programs in the nation. As Director of the EYC, I was responsible for: The care, well-being, and rehabilitative treatment of the youths assigned to the EYC. On any given day, the EYC had 35 youth in the residential boot camp phase and 100 in the non-residential Aftercare phase. The management of 21 full-time employees, 7 part-time employees, and an annual budget of $800,000. The design and implementation of major program changes in the treatment models and operating procedures used by the EYC in both the 90 day residential camp phase of the program and in the 9 month community-based Aftercare phase of the program. 7
