Developed the text for various publicity materials about the QEP and Students as Scholars initiative, and collaborated with graphic designers on the look and layout of such items. Assisted with the planning, coordination, and communication of QEP meetings and events. Represented and answered questions about the QEP and Students as Scholars initiative at various university-wide events that were attended by Mason students, faculty, and staff. 2 QEP Administrative Specialist July 2008 August 2009 Assisted with administrative tasks related to planning for George Mason University s Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) including: attending Planning Committee meetings and maintaining the meeting minutes; assisting with meeting and event planning; corresponding with faculty and students about the QEP process; creating flyers to advertise about the QEP; researching other institutions QEPs; maintaining a blog for community feedback; and communicating with the webmaster to make frequent updates to Mason s QEP website. Administrative Support February July 2008 Assisted with administrative office tasks that included workshop and event planning, editing and organizing the Center s website, answering phones, and responding to faculty s. SACS Compliance Consultant July September 2010 Office of the Provost Assisted with the preparation of compliance documentation related to Mason s 2011 reaffirmation of accreditation through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) by: developing text describing the course catalog subject codes for each academic program; reviewing faculty transcripts to verify that they were qualified to teach courses within their respective departments, based on SACS policies about required degrees, and maintaining a spreadsheet containing information about faculty qualifications; and researching, organizing, and synthesizing spreadsheets containing information about undergraduate program coordinators. Course Ratings Assistant January August 2008 Office of Institutional Research & Reporting Assisted with the scanning, packaging, and distribution of the university s course evaluations and associated reports. Fulfilled institutional data requests submitted by faculty members from various academic departments, as needed. TEACHING EXPERIENCE Graduate Teaching Assistant Spring 2010 New Century College and Women & Gender Studies Collaborated closely with two professors in the development of the syllabus and course materials for Violence and Gender (NCLC 310/WMST 300), a six-credit interdisciplinary learning community designed to examine the relationships between violence and gender. Helped generate weekly class agendas, develop questions for discussion, and grade student research papers and projects. Worked closely with students outside of class to identify and coordinate their service-learning placements. 5 LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE AND SERVICE Community Adjudication Board (CAB) Member May 2010 May 2012 Office of Student Conduct Served as a graduate student representative on Mason s CAB, chairing and participating in hearings of alleged student misconduct that involved violations of the university s Code of Student Conduct and the Resident Student Handbook. Deliberated with other Board members about students responsibility for alleged charges and developed applicable educational sanctions for students who were found responsible for violating university policies. Served as the Chair of New Member Training, assisting the CAB advisor with the planning and facilitation of the annual training session for new members. Search Committee Coordinator October December 2011 Managed the administrative tasks associated with the search for an Office Coordinator for the new Office of Student Scholarship, Creative Activities, & Research (OSCAR). Coordinated the posting and advertising of the position with Human Resources & Payroll. Contacted candidates to request and arrange phone and on-campus interviews with the search committee and Director of OSCAR. Responded to the and phone inquiries of those interested in applying for the position. Search Committee Coordinator and Member May November 2011 Coordinated and managed a national search to find an Assistant Director for the new Office of Student Scholarship, Creative Activities, & Research (OSCAR). Contacted candidates about phone interviews, and coordinated and participated in phone interviews with other members of the search committee. Planned for campus visits by making travel arrangements for candidates and setting itineraries, and participated in the in-person interviews of various candidates. Diversity Research Group October 2010 May 2011 Served as a graduate student representative on a committee comprised of faculty and administrators from across the university who were interested in issues and research related to the meanings of diversity in higher education. Ethnography of Diversity Project August 2008 May 2010 Conducted research on students perceptions of campus safety in both the first and second cohorts of this project with other undergraduate and graduate students who were engaging in projects of their own. Participated in monthly meetings with other students to share progress, and presented research findings at annual workshops. 6 Search Committee Coordinator May September 2009 Coordinated a national search to find an Associate Director for the Center for Teaching and Faculty Excellence. Scheduled and participated in search committee meetings, reviewed applications, contacted candidates about phone interviews, coordinated phone interviews, and planned campus visits by making travel arrangements for candidates and setting itineraries. Intern and Office Volunteer October 2006 May 2007 Sexual Assault Services Collaborated with another office intern on the research and writing of various informational flyers and office resources, in addition to the planning of awareness events. Interacted with students, faculty, and staff at information tables and events, including Turn Off the Violence Week s Clothesline Project and Take Back the Night Rally, the Vagina Monologues, Healthy Relationships Week, and Victims Rights Week. Hosted information tables and answered questions about available services and resources.
