4 CO-LOCATED SERVER HOSTING Co-Located Server Hosting allows to provide the basic infrastructure around hosting a server in an Internet Data Centre. It is essentially an Infrastructure Solution where our Co-Located customers provide their own servers and house them in our world class Internet Data Centre. Hardware management, Operating System Management, Software Management and backups are the sole responsibility of a Co-Located Server Hosting Customer. Co-located Server customers are provided with attended access to their server during office hours only. DEDICATED SERVER HOSTING Dedicated Server Hosting takes the concept explained above (Infrastructure Provisioning) and adds a rental server to the mix. We offer three (3) levels of server rental specifications, an entry level server, a mid range server and a high end server. With the option for multiple processors, high availability RAM and multiple hard drives in multiple RAID configurations, the Dedicated Server Hosting solution is targeted at clients who have the in-house capability to support a server, but do not want the added fiscal load of purchasing or managing the server hardware. 3

5 MANAGED SERVER HOSTING Managed Server Hosting takes a totally outsourced approach to hosting a server on the Internet. We provide infrastructure and a rental server and apply a management, support and disaster recovery plan to the solution. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS 1. Will I have root/admin control of my hosted server? (SuperUser Access) If you are a Co-Located or Dedicated Server Hosting customer, yes, you have total administrative access to the hosted server. If you are a Managed Server Hosting customer, you will not be allowed administrative access to the server. (We manage the server to SLA levels) 2. May I host adult content on a hosted server? No. We do not allow adult content of any kind on our servers. 3. What databases do you support? Our support team can support both Microsoft SQL Standard & Advanced Server databases and the MySQL Database 4. What is the connection speed of the hosted servers? Our entire range of server hosting servers are connected via Fast Ethernet (100Mb/s) to Cisco switches in our Internet Data Centre. As a whole, our Internet Data Centre is connected to the both the Telkom ATM network and the SAIX backbone for redundancy. 5. Do you offer streaming media or RealAudio/Video? Yes. All our server hosting customers have the ability to provide streaming media, but it must be configured on the server. 4

6 6. How often do you backup? Managed Server hosting customers are backed up utilising a methodology. This means that we conduct one full and six incremental backups a week. Co-located and Dedicated Server hosting customers are responsible for their own backups. 7. Do you allow telnet access? From a security perspective, we recommend that you to not configure telnet access to the hosted server. Rather utilise SSH or one of the other secure remote access software packages. 8. Can I setup Anonymous FTP access? Yes. Anonymous FTP access can be configured to the Hosted Server. If you are a Managed Server Hosting customer, please contact our Technical Assistance Centre. If you are a Co-Located or Dedicated Server hosting customer, you can set this up yourself 9. Is there a minimum contract period for your Server Hosting solutions? Yes. Each of our web hosting solutions carries a minimum term of one (1) year with two (2) and three (3) year terms possible in the Dedicated & Managed Server hosting solutions. 10. What is your traffic allocation? Our traffic allocation is like no other major ISP in South Africa. We do not provide you with a traffic allocation per month. Instead, we provide you with Internet bandwidth to your server in 64Kb/s time slots. IE On a single 64Kb/s time slot, you could transfer approximately 20 GigaBytes of monthly traffic 5
