4 Who we are The Women s Bond Club is a vital community of experienced women across a wide range of financial services and related industries. Founded in 1921, The Women s Bond Club was the first organization in New York that focused on advancing women in finance. Today we have over 915 members and 40 of the leading financial services firms as corporate sponsors, with several new additions to our roster. Our members are united by a powerful mission: to advance women s leadership, grow our intellectual capital, and return value to our companies, communities and upcoming generations. We accomplish this through a series of thoughtprovoking and engaging events for our members, as well as through our scholarship program and partnerships with non-profit organizations, such as the Urban Assembly School for Young Women in Business, which provide career guidance to women. We invite you to visit our website, which reflects our latest forward-looking vision. 2 women s bond club

8 WBC Philanthropy Over the years we have given various grants totaling over $120,000 to fund college bound programs or financial literacy education. We currently have awarded UASBYW a $20,000 grant to fund 80 students who will receive tutoring for SAT and Regents preparation through a partnership with Ivy Key, a NYC based tutoring company which offers tutoring, mentoring and admissions consulting. The Ivy Key only employs students attending, or graduates of, an Ivy League school or institution of equal quality. The WBC continued its long-standing partnership and support of the Urban Assembly School of Business for Young Women and awarded the UASBYW a $20,000 grant in the spring of 2015 to fund two exciting programs: SAT Prep and Credit Recovery, both of which were implemented in early The SAT Prep is a 9-week intensive series for students, which takes place from 3:30-6:30pm, two days a week (Wednesday and Thursday), running from February 10th through May 4th with the Let s Get Ready program. The Credit Recovery program, which is executed through Fuel Education, targets a subset of approximately 70 students who have not yet met the college readiness standard in English and Math, based on benchmark assessments. In addition to the monetary impact, the WBC s Community Outreach Committee maintained its close ties with the UASBYW through several other volunteer-based events that engage the wider WBC membership during 2015 including hosting its 9th Annual Career Panel, as well as a mock interview event and a college-essay editing event, in which over 30 volunteers worked with 40 seniors on their college essays ahead of application due dates in January and March. The objective of the Women s Bond Club Scholarship Program is to award college scholarships to young women in high school looking to advance in a career in business/finance. Since its inception in 2000, WBC has awarded 76 scholarships totaling over $1,200,000 under the Scholarship Program. Through the Community Outreach Committee, the Mentoring Sub-Committee looks to partner each scholarship winner with a mentor from the WBC membership who will work with the students through their 4 year college education. Additionally, Community Outreach s Jobs Sub-Committee will work with the students on resume writing, interviewing skills and look to place the students in internship or full-time positions with our WBC member firms. 6 women s bond club

9 Charitable Giving The WBC awards grants to support projects that contribute to improving the lives of women in the metropolitan New York area through the development of their financial knowledge, skills, education and access. Recognizing that a long-term relationship will enable greater leverage of organizational assets, facilitate the achievement of more substantial goals and expand opportunities for individual member involvement, the WBC seeks organizations for long-term partnerships. The Women s Bond Club has awarded over $283,000 in grants since 2000 to support local organizations whose missions align with the WBC to help women in need. Through the Isabel Benham Award given each year at the Merit Award Dinner, the Women s Bond Club has donated an additional $325,000 since The WBC has chosen to support the following charitable organizations in 2015: Bottomless Closet Bottomless Closet was established by a group of New York City women in response to a 1996 New York Times article that spoke of the obstacles that women on public assistance were facing in their search for work, including the need of appropriate interview clothing and the lack of self-confidence to present themselves professionally in unfamiliar settings. The founders also responded to the passage of The Welfare Reform Act, which radically transformed the nation s welfare system by imposing a time limit on federal benefits further complicating a women s transition into the workforce. Bottomless Closet s mission is the connection that inspires and guides disadvantaged New York City women to help them enter the workforce and achieve success. They envision a time when all women overcome poverty and achieve self-sufficiency for themselves and their families. To date, the organization has worked with over 25,000 New York City women in their effort to lift themselves out of poverty and build self-sufficient lives for themselves and their families. Every day, we see dramatic transformations in appearance and self-confidence. Nearly 100% of clients identify Bottomless Closet as a fundamental factor to their success and close to two thirds of women are hired following their initial visit to Bottomless Closet. WBC has worked closely this year with Bottomless Closet. We had a successful accessories drive at the recent BMO: Thomson Reuters Event. WBC members are looking forward to upcoming events in April where we will be helping Bottomless Closet clients prepare for work interviews merit award dinner 7
