Tuesday PM POTSDAM I Aligning Green Requirements with Business Constraints John Buchanan, Emerging Market Sourcing Manager, Ford Frederic Robert, ALE Logistics - Environment Manager, Renault This session looks at the important issues surrounding the reporting of CO 2 emissions as they relate to the transport of parts, materials and vehicles in the automotive supply chain. Today there is confusion among the many players over the precise information required and what methods should be used to generate the necessary greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions data. The Odette project group comprising of OEM experts will shortly be publishing their Guidelines to help everyone in the industry, including freight transport operators, vehicle manufacturers, suppliers and logistics service providers, have a better understanding and to be in line with each other. The status of the group and the results so far will be presented along with a first look at the main contents of the Guidelines. In addition, there will be an overview of legislation surrounding this topic that comes into force in France in 2013, affecting all companies, along with a summary of the new European CEN standard on the subject to be released shortly. This is done in order to offer more information services such as vehicle uptime and reduce repair and maintenance costs but telematics may also be used to more fully integrate the vehicle into the supply chain by providing information such as environmental impact, vehicle cost, real-time location of goods and handling deviations in order to meet JIT requirements. It is now time to introduce a vehicle independent standard that makes it easy to integrate vehicle information into the supply chain and also make vehicle information available from the Cloud. Due to high fluctuation of real customer demands and due to market competition, forecast procedures often show poor accuracy resulting in adverse effects on both stock levels and service levels. The new Odette Forecast Accuracy Measurement guideline shows a forecast accuracy index between 0 and 100% which can directly be used as an input to adapt safety stock planning. In a major effort, VDA logistics messages have been replaced by globally accepted standards: EDIFACT and XML messages. Triggered by large OEMs in dialogue with major suppliers, the move has also involved B2B service providers to ensure maximum support from all stakeholders.
