Between 20 and 25 masters and doctoral students each semester in Counseling, Counseling Psychology, and School Psychology provided services to between 200 to 300 client cases per year. I worked with faculty from both Counseling and School Psychology programs to provide students with a quality practicum experience. The clinic served a diverse community population in the greater Bryan/College Station area as well as some university students. I had oversight and primary responsibility for all operations in the Clinic, including budgetary issues, hiring, and supervision of staff (fulltime receptionist/accountant, part-time work study students, and 4-7 fulltime graduate assistants), grants and contracts, and some supervision for therapy and psychological assessment cases. In addition to providing services to the community, the Clinic contracted with Texas A&M University ($50,000/year for two years) to provide all assessments for students seeking assistants through the office of disabilities for a learning disability. Because of the large number of students seeking services for learning disabilities, I supervised psychological assessments conducted by Clinical Psychology students (part of their assessment practicum) and Counseling Psychology and School Psychology students. Further, I provided oversight and

3 supervision of doctoral students in Counseling and School Psychology who provided counseling services for a Texas Department of Health and Human Services/Child Protective Services contract (approximately $25,100/year) for abused children and their families. Activities included counseling, expert testimony, and staffings with CPS staff, district attorney, and judges. The Clinic was typically given two full-time graduate assistants from the department and then through grants and contracts, I was able to fund from two to five additional GA s. Department of Counseling and Special Education Stephen F. Austin State University ( ). Established and directed the departments community based Counseling Clinic for training masters level counseling students. My activities revolved largely around starting up the clinic. This involved obtaining support for converting existing building rooms into a clinic with microphones, recording equipment, and observation windows. I also began the process of recruiting clients and after the first year, a new clinic director. Associate Professor of Counseling (Tenured), Marriage and Family Therapy program (AAMFT accredited). Had primary responsibility for oversight of staff (fulltime receptionist and two graduate assistants) and clinic operations. The clinic served a diverse greater Monroe area community and was a training clinic affiliated with the masters program in Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT accredited) Assistant Professor of Counseling and Coordinator, Counseling Program, Sul Ross State University, Alpine, TX, ( ). 4 Teacher/Counselor, Longview Academy. Taught English, Biology, and Psychology, ( ). 4 Teacher, Foster Jr. High, Longview Texas. Taught English, ( ). Recent Major Research Projects Project Director, Treatment Outcome Study for Abused Women and their Children: An Integrated Trauma-Based Treatment Model of Intervention (2005 to present). An on-going research project working with women who are abused by their partners and their children who were exposed to the parental violence and/or maltreated. The intervention model includes Trauma-Focused CBT/Brief Time-Limited Dynamic psychotherapy for the women and TF-CBT/Parent-Child Interactional Therapy to enhance parent-child attachment and to teach effective parenting skills based on social cognitive theory. The project is funded by the Stephen F. Austin State University Office of Research and Sponsored Programs ($31,340.00). An off-shoot of the above program is an ongoing research project comparing women who have histories of childhood abuse (sexual and physical) across treatment with women in treatment for anxiety and/or depression who do not have histories of abuse. I am examining attachment patterns, interpersonal problems, trauma symptoms, the therapeutic alliance, and general symptoms distress at three points across the treatment process. Migrant Clinicians Network Domestic Violence Program ( ). I was contracted to development assessment and survey materials for examining the frequency of domestic violence among Mexican migrant farm workers (n = 298). Further, I assisted in developing a domestic violence prevention program and methodology for assessing pre to post-treatment change (n = 82). Finally, I had the primary responsibility for analysis of data. I am a co-author on an article based on this project, Familias con Voz: Community Survey Results from an Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) Prevention Project with Migrant Workers. This project was funded by the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families, Office of Community Services. Project Director, Service Contract with Brazos County Parole Office (1995 to 2004). Provided psychological assessments and weekly group treatment for men and women on probation for domestic violence (men and women) provided by counseling psychology doctoral students. Provide child and family therapy when appropriate. In addition, the project was an ongoing research endeavor that included between 5 and 8 students at any given time. I supervised students on the team who provided assessments and counseling. Further, we collected data on abuser profiles, intervention effectiveness, treatment model development, and treatment comparison studies. We employed a combination of CBT, Solution Focused Therapy, and brief dynamic therapy. Much of this data resulted in published articles, presentations at state, regional, and national conventions, and dissertations (see sections in vita on publications, presentations, and chaired

5 dissertations). The contract funded two graduate assistants as well as costs for MMPI-2 and MCMI-III materials and scoring. The contract generated $165, over a 9-year period. Co-Project Director, School Families Project ( ). This project involved working with a local middle school in Bryan, Texas to establish support and prevention groups with students. The groups were conducted during student advisory periods and led by teachers, school counselors, and Texas A&M University students. Between 200 and 300 children participated each fall and spring semester. Along with two graduate students and another faculty member, we conducted training for group leaders, organized the meeting schedules, and conducted research on the programs effectiveness. The project resulted in numerous presentations and one publication. The project was funded by the Hogg Foundation (University of Texas) from 1993 to 1998 ($275,000.00). Although I had no involvement in writing the original grant, I assisted in writing grant renewals. Family of Origin Experiences of Counselors-in-Training ( ). This line of research focused on family of origin experiences of university students, counselors and psychologists in-training, and male and female perpetrators of intimacy violence. This research resulted in a number of published papers and presentations at state, regional and national conferences. The project was funded by the Stephen F. Austin State University Office of Research and Sponsored Programs ($22,000) and Texas A&M University of Research Projects ($7,500).
