2 Enterprise Risk Management Organisations are faced with various types of risks every day. The aim of this short course is to provide you with the right skills to manage risk within your organisation. The study material discusses the concept of 'enterprise-wide risk management', which proposes that there should be one consistent approach to dealing with risk. You will work with a valid risk model for the various ways of risk thinking, such as pure risk, financial risk, risk-taking, and corporate governance. Whether you are involved in general management, financial management, insurance management or security management, you will need to identify the risks in your organisation and strategically plan for them. Whatever your field, Enterprise Risk Management will ensure that you are prepared. Entrance Requirements Grade 12 (Std 10) or an equivalent Course Duration You should be able to complete the theory component of this short course within 1 year and the project report within 6 months. Programme Type The Enterprise Risk Management programme is a Provider Programme. INTEC offers three types of programmes, namely National Qualifications, Provider Programmes, and Agent Programmes: National Qualifications are credit bearing qualifications registered on the NQF and accredited by a Quality Assurance Body. Provider Programmes are unique to INTEC and are designed to increase and enhance your skills and knowledge within your chosen field. Agent Programmes are programmes and qualifications for which INTEC offers tuition, but where INTEC does not issue the final certificate (the agent body issues the final certificate). 3 Course Content This course includes the following topics: A rough guide to risk management Explanation of risk-management terms The enterprise-wide risk-management revolution Risk management schools of thought The DNA of risk Putting the new model of risk in practice Comparing the old with the new Implications of the universal model of risk Enterprise-wide risk management Management of risk-taking Key principles of enterprise-wide risk management Assessment You are required to hand in assignments and a project report, and to write 1 formal exam. The project report is a practical exercise that shows that you can apply the principles that you learnt in your work environment. Please note that there are exam sittings in July and November of each year. Once you have passed all of your assignments and your project report, you will need to submit an examination entry form, together with the prescribed examination fee, to the College before the closing date for the next examination. 4 Strategic Fraud Prevention Fraud is one of the most serious risks facing companies in South Africa's current business environment. Recent surveys have confirmed that between 70% and 80% of all companies in South Africa fall victim to fraud in one form or another every year. This short course is aimed at giving you the right skills to strategically manage fraud prevention within your organisation. The course material has been developed by subject matter experts in forensics, fraud investigation and fraud management.
