The term 'supply chain' refers to the entire network of companies that work together to design, produce, deliver and service a product. In the past, companies focused primarily on the manufacturing of a product, but recently they ve realised the importance of looking at the bigger picture and their focus now includes all aspects of the supply chain. Whether this is your first step towards becoming a supply chain manager, or whether you already have some experience in the field, you are sure to find an INTEC Course that will suit your needs. Programme Type INTEC offers three types of programmes, namely National Qualifications, Provider Programmes, and Agent Programmes: National Qualifications are credit bearing qualifications registered on the NQF and accredited by a Quality Assurance Body. Provider Programmes are unique to INTEC and are designed to increase and enhance your skills and knowledge within your chosen field. Agent Programmes are programmes and qualifications for which INTEC offers tuition, but where INTEC does not issue the final certificate (the agent body issues the final certificate). START HERE IF YOU ARE NEW TO THE INDUSTRY Introduction to Supply Chain Management Short Course Introduction: Production: Operations Management SAQA I.D. No Materials & Supervision Supervision & Manufacturing Production Management Storekeeping & Stock Control Please Note: The subjects in the Introductory course are also covered in the other levels of Supply Chain courses. Please note that you will be exempted from these subjects if you choose to do both levels. In other words, you won't have to study or be assessed on these subjects twice. 2

4 Introduction to Supply Chain Management Short Course If you are just starting out in the supply chain field, this carefully designed course will give you the opportunity to advance in your career. It will teach you the Principles of Supply Chain Management and Elementary Supervisory Skills. Programme Type The Introduction to Supply Chain Short Course is a Provider Programme. Entrance Requirements Grade 10 ( Std. 8 ) or an equivalent. Course Duration It should take you 12 months to complete this course. Course Content Supply Chain Management Supervision Assessment You are required to hand in written assignments and write 2 formal exams. Please note that exams are written in June and October of each year. You should complete an examination entry form and submit it to the College, together with the prescribed examination fee before the closing date for the next examination. 3

5 Award On successful completion you will receive your INTEC Short Course in Introduction to Supply Chain Management. ADD ON OPTION SAVE up to 20% when you enrol on more than one course Save up to 20% by combining the Short Course in Introduction to Supply Chain Management with any of the other Supply Chain Management courses when you enrol. 4

6 Introduction: Production: Operations Management Materials and Supervision This course is designed to enhance management skills and provide the tools for effective communication, learn motivation and the planning of systems and procedures required to deal with all aspects of the production line process. The learner will be well positioned to enter the supply chain management field at this level. Programme Type The Introduction: Production: Operations Management Materials and Supervision is a Provider Programme. Entrance Requirements Grade 10 ( Std. 8 ) or an equivalent or Introduction to Supply Chain Management Short Course. Course Duration It should take you 18 months to complete this course. Course Content Supervision Supply Chain Management Stores and Stock Control Inventory Management Purchasing Productivity and Work Study Assessment You are required to hand in written assignments and write 6 formal exams. Course Content Supply Chain Management Supervision Manufacturing Maintenance Management Productivity and Work Study Quality Control Course Duration It should take you 18 months to complete this course.
