2 Mission To develop professionals with a strong base in economics and finance empowered with an integrated knowledge of both disciplines. Objective of Program The main objective of the program is to develop knowledge and skills of the participants. This program has been designed for students who, after completing high school, are looking for some knowledge based, career oriented, and market driven educational program that would lead to lucrative careers. The program allows students to pursue advanced study in their individual areas of interest like economics and finance. The extensive quantitative part of the program intends to develop strong quantitative, analytical, and research skills the hallmark of decision sciences. Rationale In the wake of globalization, economic integration and competition, only those individuals can hold positions of responsibility who have the capacity to analyze complex problems and make intelligent decisions. The BS Economics and Finance program helps students to think logically and improve their ability to use economic and financial concepts to analyze real world problems and opportunities. This is a unique program that emphasizes qualitative and quantitative approach to dealing with economic and financial problems in both the public and private sectors.

3 Career Opportunities Graduates with a BS degree in economics and finance are prepared for a wide variety of entrylevel positions in management and quantitative analysis. BS Economics and Finance is a comprehensive professional program that can offer rewarding careers in the public and private sector corporations, banks, investment companies, insurance companies, leasing companies, education and research organizations, etc. After acquiring a BS Economics and Finance qualification, one can join any specialized master program like MBA, MCom, ICMA, MS Economics, MS Banking, MS Finance, MS Financial Engineering. Fitness to Existing Programs At this point in time, SBE is not offering any other program encompassing similar objectives. Curriculum Structure Duration: 4-years Semesters: 8 Courses: 44 (3credit hours each) Internship: 2 credit hours Total Credit Hours: 134 Exemption Policy As per UMT policy Admission Criteria All applications are evaluated on the basis of merit as determined by the applicant's previous academic record and performance in the admission test according to the following weightage criteria: Matriculation marks 20% Intermediate marks 30% UMT admission test 50% Admission Test In order to prepare for the UMT Admission Test (English and Math) that comprises of qualitative and quantitative sections, the candidates may practice exercises from SAT-I books. The test will be of two and half-hours duration. Entrance Requirements Recognized high school/intermediate or equivalent in any discipline, with mathematics and at least second division. Provisional certificate from the head of the institution in case result is awaited. A copy of Roll No. Slip and Provisional Certificate from a Gazetted Officer in case of a private candidate. Equivalence certificate from Higher Education Commission of Pakistan in case of foreign applicants. Valid student visa in case the applicant is a foreign national.

5 Why UMT UMT... ahead of the class UMT is an autonomous, not-for-profit, chartered university. Guided by the noble mission of helping others in actualizing their limitless potential to its finest shape, UMT seeks to produce leaders for tomorrow. It is not a surprise, therefore, that growth-oriented organizations prefer UMT graduates for strategic roles. A Purpose-Built Campus A new 20 acres purpose-built campus has been constructed on prime land in Johar Town, Lahore, and is within a few minutes approach from the western suburbs and other housing societies. The first phase of the campus has been completed, and became operational in mid Classes commenced for the Fall 2007 semester from October of the same year. When fully completed, the campus will cater to 6,000 students. Hostel Separate boarding and lodging facilities are available for both male and female students. The hostels are currently located at Wahdat Road, Lahore. Pick / drop facility is also provided to these students. However, on completing the second phase of construction of the new campus, hostel facilities would be made available on-campus to house 300 female students and 600 male students, which would be doubled on the final completion of the project. Library The Library houses over books and bound periodicals, over 1000 project reports, over 1500 CDs/DVDs/audio-video materials and more than 1000 stock listed company reports and profiles. Almost 3000 new works related to teaching and research needs are added each year. Over e- journals are accessible throughout campus-wide network. The library also has print subscriptions to over 60 international journals/magazines. Computer Facilities UMT's computer network consists of more than 1300 nodes with a bandwidth of 14 MB. Wireless connectivity is also available. UMT has fully equipped telecom labs for the use of its students. Financial Assistance Merit based awards are automatically granted to the participant seeking admission in Bachelors programs at the time of admission on submission of proof of marks/grades obtained in the intermediate/alevel examination. Those interested in need-based assistance must fill the Application for Financial Assistance and submit it to the Office of Admissions. 7 HOW TO APPLY! Get the Admission Kit that is available with the Office of Admissions for Rs 500/-! Outstation candidates can receive the Admission Kit by sending a bank draft/money order of Rs 600/- in favor of UMT.! Fill the Application Form provided with the Kit.! Submit the Form on or before the deadline.! All documents should be attested by the gazetted officer.! Enclose the following material with the Form: 1. Three photographs of size 1" x 1. From amongst these three: a. Affix one photograph on the UMT Admit Card b. Attach the remaining two photographs with the Application Form. 2. Photocopy of National Identity Card or domicile. 3. Copies of academic records including mark sheets, degrees, certificates, diplomas, etc., duly attested by a gazetted officer or equivalent. 4. Provisional Certificate from the head of the institution, in case result is awaited. 5. Copy of the Roll No. Slip and a Provisional Certificate from a gazetted officer, in case of a private candidate. 6. Equivalence certificate from the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan in case of applicants with foreign qualifications. 7. Experience Certificate (if applicable).
