1 The UP Academy Holland School UP Academy - Holland School at a Glance 85 Olney Street, Dorchester Principal Jeichael Henderson The UP Academy Holland School envisions a rich educational environment that prepares the students to be lifelong learners and productive, responsible members of the global community. Enrollment: 742 Built in 1932 The school provides music, art, swimming, physical education, a school-based therapy program, and a full time social worker. All students receive technology instruction once a week. The VolunteerBPS team and the UP Academy Holland s school leaders reviewed a wide variety of facilities and volunteer-related project needs for improving the school s learning environment and academic achievement. This document provides an overview of the school s most urgent volunteer project needs.

2 Theater Classroom The instructional team at the UP Academy Holland School has introduced theater/ performing arts as a method of sensory learning, exercise, and fine arts into their curriculum. In order to construct a high-quality facility that is accessible to all students. 3 Computer Lab Technology and computer skills are essential in this 21st century, and UP Academy Holland faculties are preparing students to be successful citizens. Without a computer lab, the instructional team cannot teach students those essential skills. In order to construct a high-quality facility that is accessible to all students. 4 College Readiness At UP Academy Holland, faculties and teachers are preparing students to be successful in college and career. To create a college-readiness atmosphere, the instructional team made every class a college/university theme. 5 Paint the Hallway The hallways at UP Academy Holland need to be repainted. The original paint has started to peel off, or there was drawings on the wall. 6 Paint Common Spaces The common spaces at the Holland School the walls, the cafeteria, and classrooms need to be repainted. Most of these spaces are either blank or the original paint is peeling off.
