1 Davallia Primary School Business Plan Growing With Respect Since 1974

2 Davallia Primary School est. 1974: Grow With Respect Davallia Primary School is situated in the established northern suburb of Duncraig and is well regarded as a school of quality by the community it serves. Built in 1974, the school now boasts a student enrolment of over 470 students. Our focus is for each student to develop their academic, social and emotional potential. We recognise all students are differently able and as such our school caters well for academically strong students and equally for students who have specific learning needs. Staff are highly motivated and well skilled. Their collective and collaborative efforts are focussed on the individual child providing learning opportunities to access and engage with an appropriately challenging curriculum. With demonstrated high expectations being the norm for staff and students, we at Davallia Primary School are committed to the notion of continuous improvement. Staff routinely access quality professional learning opportunities to keep abreast of contemporary educational developments and to further develop their extensive educational knowledge and skills. Our Vision Davallia Primary School is committed to creating an engaging and stimulating learning community where individual difference is acknowledged and celebrated. Leadership At Davallia Primary School we endeavour to realise: A culture that is shared in nature, affirmative in action and focused on empowering others to lead. Educational Excellence Contemporary teaching practice which targets individual need and provides for rigorous academic engagement. Collaboration Collaboration that fosters respectful and harmonious relationships at all levels. Our Values At Davallia Primary School we value: Respect - for self - for others - for the school and - for the environment Success for every student Continuous academic, physical and social growth Value Adding Student performance data continues to indicate strong academic performance in national assessment points. Comparable achievement with like schools and the exceeding of national and state means confirms student achievement is consistent and appropriate. Our commitment to the notion of continuous improvements and value adding is reflected in data collection thus ensuring our students are well skilled for the transition to secondary school. Data Analysis One significant aspect of our data collection is NAPLAN (National Assessment Programme Literacy and Numeracy) which assesses student performance in Numeracy, Reading, Writing and Language Conventions. This annual assessment is undertaken by all children in Year 3, 5 and 7 across Australia. Numeracy NAPLAN analysis over time The 2007 Year 3 students performance in Western Australian Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (WALNA) Numeracy produced a concentration of results above the WA Mean with a normal spread of students in the top 25%. In % of the same cohort was in the top 20%. This was a result well above (6.8%) the WA Schools Mean. Reading NAPLAN analysis over time The 2007 Year 3 students performance in WALNA Reading was exceptional. 34% of the cohort was in the top 25% of WA students. This was maintained through to 2011 with 33% in the top 20%. Students identified as at risk made significant gains. Science WAMSE relative assessment In 2011, our Year 5 and 7 students participated in the Western Australian Monitoring Standards in Education (WAMSE) assessment. 32% of Year 5 students and 29% of Year 7 students achieved in the top 20% of the state in Science. Society and Environment WAMSE relative assessment In 2011, 50% of Year 5 students and 33% of Year 7 students achieved in the top 20% of the state in Society and Environment (Investigation, Communication and Participation).
