Apologies for Absence Apologies from 115 members were received. 2. Adoption of Minutes of the Annual General Meeting held on 10 December 2009 (App A) There was a proposed amendment to the last minutes (page 6) by Bernard HUI on Date of Next Meeting. 23. Date of the First Quarterly General Meeting would be confirmed in due course. The minutes of the Annual General Meeting held on 10 December 2009 were proposed for adoption by Martin TAM and seconded by Franky CHOI. The minutes were confirmed as a true record. 3. Matters Arising from Minutes of Annual General Meeting held on 10 December 2009 There were no matters arising from the Annual General Meeting held on 10 December Report from the Honorary Secretary (AppB) The Honorary Secretary updated members on the recent developments in the 6 Boards in the first quarter of 2010 with a power-point presentation covering HKIA Annual Awards 2009, Quality Building Award 2010, Young Architects Award 2010, Ideas Competition for Bruce Lee s Residence, Architectural Exhibition in China, Venice Biennale, etc. The Hong Kong Institute of Architects The First Quarterly General Meeting 2010_26 March
3 Members were encouraged to read the details from the full report which was uploaded onto the front page of on 26 March Report from the President (AppC) The President thanked Honorary Secretary for the quarterly report. The President Report with highlights of key issues in the first quarter of 2010 was uploaded onto on 25 May Members were encouraged to read the details from the above link. 6. A Speech by Ms. Eva CHENG, JP, Secretary for Transport and Housing, HKSAR Vice President, KS Wong welcomed and introduced Ms. Eva CHENG as the speaker of the first QGM. The topic of her speech was Transport and Housing Development. Ms. Cheng mentioned about the 2 cross-boundary infrastructure projects. One of the cross-boundary projects was the International Design Ideas Competition of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge construction in collaboration with the Hong Kong Institute of Architects. She highlighted that 105 entries were received from 20 countries. A slogan of the competition was A New Journey Begins Here. The bridge will serve not only as a regional strategic route but also help enhance the economic development and competitiveness of the Pearl River Delta region. She also introduced the Revitalization Scheme to rejuvenate old flats.
