3 A. Name and Objectives of the Proposed 37 th Executive Committees Name Name Description Objectives Believe Magic has long been perceived as camouflage. Many people don t believe in magic because they have lost their innocence. By holding various magic events, we hope that our audience can reignite their enthusiasm and believe in magic again. Through believing in magic, it is hoped that everyone can live a more happy life. Believe also represents the unity of the proposed 37 th executive committees, it is hoped that every committee member can believe in each other while working together in the coming year. 1. To increase the popularity of the Magic Club, HKUSU 2. To increase the number of participants in each functions held by the Magic Club, HKUSU 3. CONTENT: JUMT is a magic tour held jointly by 6 universities this year. {The University of Hong Kong (HKU), The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), City University of Hong Kong (CityU), Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU)} There will be one station in each university except PolyU and each university has to find one or more magicians representing their own university to perform magic. (Stage: HKUST, CityU, CUHK, HKU; Close-Up/Parlor: HKUST, CityU, CUHK, HKBU) This year, the theme for the JUMT is Greek mythology and each university represents one Greek god. The representative character of HKU this year is Poseidon and HKU magicians will be acting magic related to water. For the station in HKU, only stage magic will be performed. 15

CONTENT: A booth of the size 1.8m x 1.8m x 1.8m will be set up and there will be four executive committee members at the booth in each timeslot. One of them will be playing tricks while the others will be introducing our activities to freshmen and handling with the membership form and the fee concerned. Two executive committee members will be in the society room in each timeslot, helping to update information of the member list and transferring extra materials needed to the booth from the society room. 17

REFUND SYSTEM % of the total payment should be returned to the applicants eligible for refund in the following conditions: The Orientation Camp is cancelled by the Society in any conditions The application is not successful All applications of refund made at or before 23:59 of the application date will be accepted, and no late application will be entertained. 100% of the total payment should be returned to the applicant eligible for refund. The applicant is not required to provide any reason for refund All applications of refund made prior to 48 hours before the event will be accepted. 75% of the total payment should be returned to the applicant eligible for refund. Aim: 1.1 To find the potential 38 th proposed executive committee for The Magic Club, HKUSU. 1.2 To provide an extra opportunity for reunion after the Orientation Camp and activities. 1.3 To establish and maintain a consistent audience for our session. 1.4 To allow members to develop and have a better understanding of The Magic Club, HKUSU. 2. CONTENT: In this Christmas workshop, it will first begin with a close-up magic performance of a professional magician Din Ng then followed by a tutorial of a few easy-to-learn magic tricks. 2-3 magic tricks with Christmas elements will be taught to the participants The magic tricks to be taught in the workshop will be learned by several Magic Club executive committees beforehand. In the workshop, participants will be divided into groups. Each group will have an assigned executive committee of The Magic Club to teach them the magic tricks. Number of people in each group will be determined by the number of participants on that day. The objective of putting participants into smaller group is to ensure a better understanding of the tutorial. 24
25 Function 11: Magic Performance 1. Aim 1.1. To provide a precious opportunity for the 38 th proposed executive committee members of The Magic Club, HKUSU to cooperate with one another to organize an activity 1.2. To provide the 38 th proposed executive committee members, whether they have learnt magic tricks before, with an invaluable chance to deliver magic performance on stage 1.3. To assess the leadership ability of 38 th proposed executive committee members 1.4. To promote the Annual Performance, which will be held soon after the Magic Performance 2. General details 2.1. Preparation in advance: The 37 th executive committee To write a proposal to apply for the booking of Happy Park with reference to the proposal written by the 36 th executive committee (in previous year) To make all the bookings of equipment and venues necessary for the Magic Performance To give a briefing to the chairman, internal vice-chairman and external vice-chairman of the proposed 38 th executive committee as to the details of the Magic performance This includes (1) the rundown of the performance, (2) preparations they need to make, (3) their roles in the function and (4) our roles (the 37 th executive committee) To make any additional bookings of equipment requested by the proposed 38 th executive committee members To monitor their progress and assist them if needed PIC should have known respective roles of proposed 38 th executive committee members BEFORE the Magic Performance To promote the activity through Facebook page and mass s using the publication materials made by the proposed 38 th executive committee To prepare leaflets as to the Annual Performance which will be 25
26 distributed in the Magic Performance The proposed 38 th executive committee To design the rundown of the performance, such as the order of performance, whom they will invite to be the guest performer(s), what equipment they need to book and material list To assign themselves responsibilities in the Magic Performance, such as the person-in-charge, MCs, backstage coordinator, technical coordinator and so on To constantly report the progress of the preparations to the 37 th executive committee To design publications materials for promoting Magic Performance, such as posters, leaflets and mass s To make publications ranging from sticking posters to distributing leaflets to promote the activity To run several rounds of rehearsals of the Magic Performance which they will invite the 37 th executive committee members to watch 3.2.
