1 Immediate Release Huge success in the inaugural International Design Furniture Fair Hong Kong 24, August 2015 Hong Kong The inaugural IDFFHK International Design Furniture Fair Hong Kong was staged at the Hall 3FG, Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre today between August (Friday Sunday). IDFFHK is the first Asia s premier luxury design, furniture and lifestyle fair. Over 5000sqm exhibition space with more than 40 of the world s most prestigious brands under 24 exhibitors showcased some of their latest collections in specially designed exhibition spaces at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. A Dialogue Speakers Series with some of the most influential names in design and architecture complemented the fair throughout the three days. IDFFHK was delighted to have invited Ms Florence Hui, Under Secretary for Home Affairs HKSAR Government and Dr Peter Lam Kin-Ngok, Chairman of the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), as the officiating guests of the opening ceremony. Together with honourable guests from Head of Culture from China Liaison Office Mr Zhu Tien, CEO of Chinachem Group Mr Sunny Yueng, Italian Trade Commissioner Ms Paola Guida, VP of HK Institute of Architects Mr W. Tseng, Chairman of HK Interior Design Association Mr A. Chan and General Manager of HK Convention Centre Ms M. Lee, IDFFHK was proudly inaugurated by Ms Florence Hui and Dr Peter Lam with grand toasting followed by festive lion dance eye-dotting ceremony. Best Showcase Award to Inspire Creativity Another highlight of IDFFHK is the Best Showcase Award where the top three showcases have been chosen based on their design creativity, materials and spatial quality by our esteemed speakers, panelists together with Mr. William Tseng, the Vice President of The Hong Kong Institute of Architects, and Mr. Antony Chan, Chairman of Hong Kong Interior Design Association. Ms Florence Hui, Under Secretary for Home Affairs HKSAR Government presented the prizes to winning exhibitors Baccarat, Design Commune and Zaha Hadid at the opening ceremony. Prestigious exhibitors from Europe and local desigs, including renowned Italian brands Poltrona Frau, Cassina and Magis, innovative German brands like Alno and Dedon, exquisite French crystal houses of Lalique, Saint Louis and Baccarat, the renowned architect Zaha Hadid Collections (UK) as well as local brand Tang Tang Tang Tang and

2 many many more. Hong Kong s own master designer Mr Alan Chan showcased his debut furniture design SILKROAD Collection in IDFFHK across Asia. IDFFHK held a silent auction for Children s Cancer Foundation with 4 top designers creation of a seat for Paul Zimmerman s Missing Seats Campaign, including Mr. Norman Chan, founder of BTR Workshop, Mr. Steve Leung, founder of Steve Leung Designers, Mr. Frank Leung, founder of via., Mr. William Lim, founder of CL3. The chairs were displayed in a bus stop backdrop in the fair. Shared by Renowned Designer on Design Insights Chairman of the Hong Kong Tourism Board, Dr. Peter Lam together with CEO of Chinachem Group, Mr. Sunny Yeung presented souvenirs to all keynote speakers whom with influential places in design and architecture at the opening ceremony. In the first day, talks were given by Mr. Alan Chan, the renowned local designer; Mr. Andre Fu, Principle of AFSO and Mr. Pinky Lai, former Chief Designer of Porsche Germany. Other luminary keynote speakers including Mr. Fred Clarke, Senior Principle, Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects who designed many international landmark including IFC (HK) and Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur; Mr. Michael Ng, Partner, Foster + Partners; Mr. Lyndon Neri, Founding Partner, Neri & Hu Design and Research Office; Mr. Cotter Christian, Professor of Interior Design, SCAD Hong Kong and Mr. Vincent Pang, winner of the competition to design the West Kowloon Cultural District Arts Pavilion were sharing their extraordinary insight in design to publics on Aug (Saturday and Sunday). The first day of the fair (21, August) was a pre-show VIP exhibition and reception attended by leading architects, designers, retailers, buyers, developers, celebrities and media. A Private VIP event was held on Aug 21 evening with guests from UBS, Citbank and all supporting partners. Members of the public from Hong Kong and other parts of Asia and the world were welcomed to attend on Saturday 22 August and Sunday 23 August, where they could purchase beautiful pieces at the fair to enhance their home.
