Güven Apt. 73/1 Teşvikiye İstanbul GSM: PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE Director General at ÇEKÜL VAKFI / ÇEKÜL FOUNDATION to date Foundation for the Protection and Promotion of the Environment and Cultural Heritage As one of the leading heritage NGOs in Turkey, the Foundation strives to foster and build a nationwide awareness and network for the preservation of the urban and rural, built and natural environment working in collaboration with more than 300 historic localities and 110 regional representatives throughout Turkey. ÇEKÜL ACADEMY Head of Heritage & Creativity Development Programs 2011 to date ÇEKÜL ACADEMY is founded by the ÇEKÜL Foundation to deliver a series of training programs aiming creativity, designed to upgrade and sustain the urban and cultural heritage and projects run by local governments of historic towns in Anatolia. (Ex: Turkish Union of Historic, Towns Heritage Development and Training Programs for Member Local Authorities) It also offers tailor-made programs for individuals and corporate clients. (Ex: Istanbul Moda Academy (IMA) Urban Heritage & Identity: Road Map for Creativity Development Program) I was responsible for the following tasks; - Content development of workshops and tools for leading creative change for professionals in heritage conservation - Course leading and training in the field of urban identity, site management and cultural heritage politics. - Designing training activities for improving creativity and supporting self-expression in groups and teams - Content development of tailor-made programs in accordance with the academy s education programs - Facilitating and moderating group work with professionals in thematic workshops, to improve the creative thinking ability of group members - Designing tailor made workshops in urban heritage as a principal source of inspiration and creativity - Developing basic artistic tools to stimulate imaginative and creativity activity for the preparation of fashion portfolios and design - Training students to gain insight for self-development and awareness of creative and innovative techniques for expressing individuality - Delivering training programs International Projects Coordinator 2010 to date In addition to my responsibility above, as the International Projects Coordinator, I was responsible for the whole stages of the development of project proposals from the concept design to the application stage. - Coordinating international projects and the application procedures 1
2 - Recruiting the project teams, coordinating the project activities and the project teams - Implementation, follow up and monitoring - Preparing awareness raising and promotion activities - Dissemination of the project results and reporting to CFCU and the National Authority - Representative of the Foundation in the international community UNESCO- Education Committee Member XXV. Session January 2010 to 2014 Represented ÇEKUL in the UNESCO Turkish National Committee under the NGO category - Contributed to the UNESCO education strategy and annual planning - Led the strategic planning and development of the working program of the Committee ENCATC-ÇEKÜL ACADEMY Representative 2012 ENCATC is an international non-governmental organisation and a European network of higher educational institutions and training organisations dealing with cultural management education and training. I represented the Foundation in the international community. Ex:change, Istanbul-Marseille: Industrial Architectural Heritage, Developing Awareness and Visibility ( ) Istanbul - Marseille: Visibility and Awareness of Industrial Heritage The project is initiated by the ÇEKÜL Foundation under Civil Society Dialogue-Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture Grant Scheme Program (Budget Euro). - Implementing main activities of the project: light installation, university workshops, public art exhibition, research and visual documentation, awareness raising and heritage education activities - Preparation of the Istanbul Industrial Heritage Education Kit and map, implementation of the related program in more than 30 schools, formulation and design of the teachers training workshops - Sinop International Urban Academy Forum 2011 Collecting the Future project supported by the Promotion of the Civil Society Dialogue II Grant Program between EU and Turkey is the extension of the 3 rd Sinop International Biennial(2011) coordinated by the European Culture Association in cooperation with ÇEKÜL. - Moderating the Urban Academy Forum, coordinating panels and discussions - Managing discussions and seminars, and organizing collected information in workshops throughout the activities of the Artist s Academy,conceptualizing and implementing art installations - Development Cultural Heritage Training Facility in Kosovo October 2010-October 2012 An EU-funded project on Cultural Heritage (Prizren, the Cultural Capital), comprising of the establishment and management of the Cultural Heritage Training Facility in Prizren (CHTF) implemented by a consortium led by PEM (DE) with partners GDSI (IE), ÇEKÜL (TR) and CHwB (KS). - Responsible for the coordination and communication as the partner organization - Overseeing the application procedure and implementation of the activities in Kosovo - Recruiting the Turkish experts for the project team in Kosovo Head of Education Department 2009 to
3 Starting from 2008, in 2009, I initiated rich education tools and thematic programs designed specifically for the Foundation s education activities in Anatolia. Museums education curriculums, thematic education programs, tailor-made programs, seminars, workshops and cultural events are also designed and implemented. Special attention is given to Corporate Social Responsibility projects (CSR) that function as built-in, self-regulating mechanisms to reach ethical standards and international norms. I was responsible for designing and implementing heritage education projects. CSR Projects - Preparation of program schedules - Development of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects for businesses such as UPS, The Body Shop, ETİ Gıda - Coordination and implementation of CRM Projects - Setting up trainers training courses for the CRM project implementations - Monitoring and periodic reporting Tailor-made Education Programs These programs are based on the collection of individual city museums such as that of the Bursa City Museum which presently is in practise. Training programs for teachers are also designed and implemented for private schools such as Hisar Schools and Ayşe Abla Private School. Seminars and Lectures Invited as quest speaker to present lectures and seminars for undergraduates of architecture, cultural management and archaeology in universities such as Bilgi, Koç, Bahçeşehir. Heritage Education Coordinator & Cultural Envoys Project Coordinator 2006 to 2009 I was responsible for the following tasks; - Establishment of education department, a core team of 6 members and more than 100 trainers - Annual planning of the program implementation in cities - Sustaining academic maintenance of the program with an advisory committee - Implementing the trainers training course annually and expanding the program to young graduates - Establishment of town-based networks of local actors, ÇEKÜL representatives, teachersschools, local administrations-municipalities, governors and children. First enacted with the support of UNESCO and supported by the Turkish Union of Historic Towns, the Cultural Envoys project aimed to raise awareness among children through on-site heritage training programs. In 2008 ÇEKÜL and ETI Food Industry initiated the program, implemented in 77 historical cities and reaching up to 5000 children in As the Project Coordinator, I was responsible for: - Coordinating and implementing the project activities - Conducting the budget ( Euro ) - Coordination of Anatolian Street Games Project in cooperation with Okan Bayülgen in 7 cities BRANDENBURG TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY Chair Assistant UNESCO Chair of Intercultural Studies, Cottbus,DE Follow up of department projects, events and meetings April 2004-September 3
