1 SANDAL PRIMARY SCHOOL JOB DESCRIPTION Post Title Teacher Standard National Scale For Upper pay Spine status refer to Performance Threshold Standards below. The following information is provided to assist teaching staff to understand and appreciate the work content of their post and the role they are to play in the school. However, the following points should be noted: The postholder is required to carry out the professional duties of a schoolteacher within the conditions of service, as set out in the current School teachers Pay and Conditions Document, from which the following bullet points have been identified. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES To teach children within the Primary age range, either in the role of a classteacher or as a support teacher, as may be directed by the Head. To work within the policies of the school. To be responsible to the Headteacher through the school management structure. To maintain an appropriate educational ethos, including the overview of storage, display and use of teaching materials/resources/books relating to the class and/or curriculum responsibilities. To carry out recording and monitoring of pupils achievement and the maintenance of records as required. To be responsible for the safety and well-being of pupils at all times. To supervise the work of ancillary/support staff as required. To carry out other duties as the Headteacher may reasonably direct from time to time. To co-ordinate a curriculum area(s) across the whole school.

2 ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES supporting, advising and encouraging colleagues managing and developing resources, as appropriate monitoring curriculum delivery and content Performance Threshold Standard In accordance with STPCD and Threshold documentation, teachers at UPS1 and UPS2 should demonstrate: Standard 1 Knowledge and Understanding that they have a thorough and up-to-date knowledge of the teaching of their subject and take account of wider curriculum developments which are relevant to their work. Standard 2 Teaching and Assessment that they consistently and effectively plan lessons and sequences of lessons to meet pupils individual learning needs. that they consistently and effectively use a range of appropriate strategies for teaching and classroom management. that they consistently and effectively use information about prior attainment to set well-grounded expectations for pupils and monitor progress to give clear and constructive feedback. Standard 3 Pupil Progress that, as a result of their teaching, their pupils achieve well relative to the pupils prior attainment, making progress as good or better than similar pupils nationally. This should be shown in marks or grades in any relevant national tests, or school-based assessment for pupils where national tests are not taken. Standard 4 Wider Professional Effectiveness that they take responsibility for their professional development and use the outcomes to improve their teaching and pupils learning. that they make an active contribution to the policies and aspirations of the school.

3 Teachers should also demonstrate that they are effective professionals who challenge and support all pupils to do their best through: inspiring trust and confidence building team commitment engaging and motivating pupils analytical thinking positive action to improve the quality of pupils learning UPS3 In accordance with DfES/0420/2004 Annex A, and in agreement with the School Teachers Review Body (STRB) and the Rewards and Incentives Group (RIG), teachers achieving UPS3 status: play a critical role in the life of the school. They provide a role model for teaching and learning, make a distinctive contribution to the raising of pupil standards and contribute effectively to the work of the wider team. They take advantage of appropriate opportunities for professional development and use the outcomes effectively to improve pupils learning. In achieving UPS3 status teachers will need to continue to meet threshold standards and prove that they have grown professionally by developing their teaching expertise post threshold Signed..(Teacher) Signed.(Headteacher) Date..
