1 Study Guide: Quiz 1: Verbs On this quiz you must identify the person, number, tense, and voice of 15 verbs. You must score at least 50 out of 60 possible points to pass. All the questions come from the following eight verbs. Word Bank: Verbs Used 1 st Conjugation 2 nd Conjugation 3 rd and 3 rd -io 4 th Conjugation amō, -āre,-āvī,-ātus habeō, -ēre,-uī,-itus agō, agere, ēgī, actus veniō, -īre, vēnī, ventus portō, -āre,-āvī,-ātus augeō, -ēre, auxī, auctus faciō, facere, fēcī, factus audiō, -īre,-īvī, -ītus Skills needed: 1. Identify person and number. A verb ending shows person and number. That is why it is called a personal ending! Complete these charts of the active personal endings you need to recognize. In step 3 below you will complete the chart of the passive personal endings. Present Personal Endings (used on present, imperfect, and future tense active verbs) Perfect Personal Endings (used only on perfect tense active verbs) Number 1 st person 2 nd person 3 rd person 2. Identify tense. Tense is shown by two parts of the verb: Its stem (a present or perfect stem) and any tense signs added between the stem and the personal ending. Complete these charts of the stems and tense signs. Tense Stem Tense sign (if any) Present Present Stem (2 nd principal part; drop the re) none Imperfect Future Perfect Perfect Stem (3 rd principal part; drop the i) none 3. Identify voice. Voice is either active or passive. You can tell a present, imperfect, or future tense passive verb by the following endings. (Complete the chart from TB p. 188.) You must score at least 25 out of 29 possible points to pass. All the questions come from the following eight nouns.
