3 Introduction Background Information The City of Fremont has established and wishes to promote the Warm Springs/ Baylands area as a unique Innovation District, chosen because of the existing concentration of innovative businesses located in the area such as Tesla Motors, Delta Products, Redwood Systems, ThermoFisher, and Bruker Biospin and others. The Fremont Innovation District logo was designed to help build awareness and recognition in order to brand the area as a hotbed of technological and economic development. Concept In the logo, the light bulb creating the letter o in Innovation is a universal icon that instantly communicates the concept of innovation. Its simplicity allows instant recognition and legibility, as well as stylistic longevity. Creating Brand Identity Consistent use of the logo in all new productions and printings of promotions, public relations and marketing materials will help to enhance its recognition and create a brand identity. These guidelines outline rules for correct and consistent presentation of the Fremont Innovation logo in a variety of applications and media. 1
4 Orange Pantone: 144C or 144U Process: 0C, 45M, 100Y, 0K RGB: 249R, 157G, 28B Hex: F99D1C Dark Gray Pantone: Cool Gray 11C or Cool Gray 11U Process: 0C, 2M, 0Y, 68K RGB: 112R, 111G, 115B Hex: 706F73 Official Color Palette Color use is one of the most effective elements for ensuring a clear and consistent presentation of the Fremont Innovation District identity and is essential to maintaining a strong brand. The official color palette consists of Orange and Dark Gray. Shown to the left are specific color formulas for both print and onscreen applications. Consistent use of the official color palette is essential. 2
5 Clear space is equal to the cap height of Innovation X X Clear Space The Fremont Innovation District logo should never compete visually with other graphic elements. Use established minimum clear-space guidelines at all times. X Minimum clear space [x] is equal to the cap height of the word Innovation in the logo. That distance should be used to set off the logo both horizontally and vertically from other elements. Never use less than the minimum clear space. See clear space defined by x in the example at left. Note that clear space is a relative distance, based on the cap height of Innovation in the logo. 3
6 Print Minimum Size Minimum Size 29.5 mm 1.16 in The Fremont Innovation District logo should always be large enough to ensure legibility. To ensure that the logo is prominent and readable at reduced sizes, please observe the minimum-size requirements in all media. The minimum size is measured by the width of the word Innovation. In printed materials, the logo must be a minimum of 29.5 mm in width. When displayed onscreen, the logo must be a minimum of 120 pixels in width. Screen Minimum Size 120 pixels 4
7 Color Logo White Background Color Versions and Digital Artwork One-Color Logos Black-and-White on a White Background Reverse on a Black Background Color Versions The Fremont Innovation District logo is designed with Pantone 144 and Pantone Cool Gray 11. There are also one-color (black-and-white and reverse) versions of the logo for specific applications such as newspaper advertising. The logo should be primarily displayed in color on a white background. Please see the examples at left for approved logo usage on white and black backgrounds for both color and black-and-white deliverables. Digital Artwork The logo is available in the approved color versions in a variety of electronic file formats (EPS, PNG, etc.) and color formulas (Pantone, CMYK and RGB) for different media requirements. Please consult with vendors to ensure the correct file formats are provided for optimum reproduction of the logo. Acceptable, but Not Preferred Reverse on an Orange Background Reverse on a Dark Gray Background 5
8 Unacceptable Usage Do not change the color of the logo. Do not place the logo at an angle. Design and usage standards ensure that the Fremont Innovation District logo identity is instantly recognizable however and wherever it is used. You must follow logo guidelines carefully and avoid unauthorized variations such as those displayed at left. Do not alter placement or size relationships of objects within the logo. Do not make a pattern out of the logo. Do not choose background colors that clash with the logo or offer low contrast. Do not distort the logo or place it inside a form or object. Do not place the logo on photography or a pattern that impacts legibility. Do not add a drop or cast shadow. 6
