2 FEES REFUND OF FEES Students who wish to withdraw from the courses they have matriculated for may apply for a refund. Students should submit application for refund to the where they have matriculated for the course. The schedule of provision for refund is: In addition to the one-time registration fee, full-time students will have to pay tuition, supplementary and examination fees twice a year. All Singapore Citizen students with MOE Post- Secondary Education Account (PSEA) are required to use their PSEA for payment of fees. Singapore Citizen students without PSEA, Permanent Resident students and International students may pay their first term fees via NETs/ Credit Cards at Customer & Visitor Centre of the s. Applicant must apply for refund, before will process the request and it is subject to approval. INSURANCE All full-time students are insured under the Group Personal Accident Insurance Scheme. International students are required to purchase Group Hospitalisation and Surgical Insurance (GHSI). GHSI rates are advised separately. Students are required to submit Application Form for InterBank GIRO for payment of fees from the second term onwards (for students who do not have PSEA or their PSEA account balance is insufficient for all terms in the course of study). Each term (one semester) duration is about 6 months. Students are required to pay their term fees for all terms in order to remain in their course of study. Fees are due upon term commencement. No invoice will be sent. Students can access the online Student Portal at with the User ID and Password issued by during application to view the fees payable. The breakdown of the fees payable by Technical Diploma, Higher Nitec and Nitec levels are listed in Tables 10. Under the cohort-based fee structure, a student s tuition fees will remain unchanged for the entire duration of the course. 36

However, for students who inform officially of their Citizenship change to Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident after the term commencement, their fees will be adjusted to the Singapore Citizen / Permanent Resident rate only with effect from the next term. 37

4 AWARDS & SCHOLARSHIPS offers attractive scholarships and awards for students who have excelled academically, achieved outstanding performance in their co-curricular activities (CCAs) and demonstrated strong leadership potential or artistic and sporting talent. Certificate of Merit Certificate of Merit (COM) is generally awarded to the top 5% of the graduates from a course. Graduates must have passed all core, specialisation and life skills modules at the first attempt within normal course duration and have achieved outstanding performance in their course of study, with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above, at the point of graduation. Course Medal The Course Medals are awarded to the outstanding COM holders in each course. The number of Course Medals awarded for each course is based on the number of graduates of the course, subject to a maximum of 3 medals. Graduates will be awarded Gold, Silver or Bronze Course Medal based on their overall performance in their course of study, CCA achievements and other contributions. Top Graduate Awards Gold Course Medalists with outstanding performance and have contributed to the well-being of the s through active participation in college and social activities will be eligible for the following awards: Lee Kuan Yew Gold Medal Tay Eng Soon Gold Medal Sng Yew Chong Gold Medal Medal and cash prize of $600 are awarded to each recipient of the top graduate awards. Lee Hsien Loong Award For Outstanding All-Round Achievement Gold Course Medalists, who have done well academically and actively involved in CCA, particularly those who have made outstanding contributions to the community and demonstrated the spirit of Innovation and Enterprise, will be eligible for the Lee Hsien Loong Award for Outstanding All-round Achievement. Cash prize of $600 is awarded to the recipient of this award. Lee Kuan Yew Model Student/Trainee Award The Lee Kuan Yew Model Student/Trainee Award is presented to full-time Higher Nitec and Nitec students and trainees who have performed consistently well in their course and have displayed outstanding conduct and attitude worthy of emulation by their peers. The award serves to inspire students and trainees to display exemplary behaviour in training and develop high moral values as well as show care and concern for others. The award comprises a cash quantum of $400, a trophy and a certificate. Lee Kuan Yew Technology Award The Lee Kuan Yew Technology Award is presented to fulltime Higher Nitec and Nitec students who have developed excellent projects that embody quality, technical innovation and creativity. The award serves to inspire students to develop a zeal for challenges, creativity and competition. A maximum of 10 awards will be presented each year. The award comprises a cash quantum of $400 and a trophy. Each member of the project team also receives a replica trophy and a certificate. Lee Kuan Yew CCA Award The Lee Kuan Yew CCA Award is a recognition of excellence in CCA accorded to the most deserving full-time Higher Nitec and Nitec students who have distinguished themselves among the CCA Medallists. The award comprises a cash quantum of $400, a trophy and a certificate. 38

5 FEES & FINANCIAL SERVICES Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Book Prize The Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Book Prize provides further recognition to outstanding graduates, and encourages them to work hard and excel in their studies at the polytechnics. Each Book Prize is worth $500. The awardees will be selected from among the recipients of the Lee Kuan Yew to Encourage Upgrading (LKY-STEP). Arts Excellence Award The objective of the Arts Excellence Award is to recognise quality contributions by students to the arts scene and to motivate on-going students to excel in music and the arts. full-time Higher Nitec and Nitec students who have a good record of CCA, exemplary conduct, positive attitude and outstanding arts and/or music achievements/performance in will be nominated for the award. To qualify for the Good Progress Award, students must have passed all accountable modules in the examinations and must not be a recipient of the Edusave Merit Bursary or CDC & CCC-. No application for the award is required as the students who have shown progress in their studies will be identified. Edusave Awards For Achievement, Good Leadership and Service (EAGLES) EAGLES is a scheme that gives recognition to full-time students for their leadership qualities, service to community or excellence in the non-academic areas, i.e. Sports & Games, Arts & Cultural Activities, Clubs & Societies and Community Service. Up to 10% of full-time Higher Nitec and Nitec students who are Singapore Citizens will be selected for the award yearly. No application for the award is required. The cash quantum of each award is $500. CCA Medal The CCA Medal is awarded to full-time Higher Nitec and Nitec students who have brought honours to through their achievements in music and arts, sports and games or have contributed significantly to the enhancement of life and demonstrated outstanding leadership in their chosen CCA. The awardees will be selected from among the recipients of EAGLES. Recipients of an equivalent incentive award will also be considered on a case-by-case basis. Each awardee will receive a Certificate and a Medal. Edusave Character Award Edusave Character Award (ECHA) is given to students who demonstrate exemplary character and outstanding personal qualities through their behavior and actions. Up to 2% of full-time Higher Nitec and Nitec Singaporean students will be selected for the award yearly. Each award is values at $

6 Community Development Council & Citizens Consultative Committee - Institute of Technical Education (CDC & CCC-) The CDC & CCC- is open to Singaporean school leavers who have completed their secondary education and have registered for s full-time Higher Nitec and Nitec courses. Company-sponsored students admitted to s fulltime or traineeship courses are also eligible for the. Lee Kuan Yew To Encourage Upgrading (LKY - STEP) The objective of the LKY-STEP is to motivate students to excel in their training and encourage life-long learning. The scholarship is awarded to outstanding graduates pursuing full-time diploma courses at the local polytechnics and. It comprises a one-off cash quantum of $3,500 plus waiver of tuition fees for the duration of the polytechnic or diploma course. Singapore Olympic Foundation - Peter Lim Sports The Singapore Olympic Foundation Peter Lim Sports is offered to full-time students. Howe Yoon Chong - Port of Singapore Authority (PSA) The Howe Yoon Chong-PSA provides financial assistance to Singaporeans from lower income families to upgrade themselves through formal qualifications and/or technical skills. This is open to Singapore citizens aged 25 years and below who are admitted to a full-time Higher Nitec or Nitec course and whose gross monthly household per capita is $750 and below. For applicants with GCE O qualification, the aggregate score for English Language, Mathematics and best 3 subjects must not exceed 26 points. For applicants with GCE N qualification, the aggregate score for Mathematics and best 3 subjects must not exceed 9 points. More information on SISS and SAF MDES Study Award can be obtained from the SAF Careers Centre on Tel (Army), Tel (Navy) or Tel (Air Force). Sponsorship for Nitec in Nursing Course Sponsorship awards are offered to selected students who have successfully enrolled in the Nitec in Nursing course. Upon successful completion of training, recipients will join the sponsoring hospital where they will perform direct nursing care and activities to patients. 10 FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE SCHEMES is fully committed to helping students cope with their educational expenses through various financial assistance schemes. These are funded, in part, by the generous donations from individual organisations and foundations. Community Development Council & Citizens Consultative Committee - Institute of Technical Education (CDC & CCC-) Bursary The CDC & CCC- Bursary is a financial assistance scheme available for application by Singaporean school leavers seeking admission to full-time courses. To be eligible, the applicant s gross monthly household per capital income (PCI) does not exceed $950. The bursary quantum is given in Table 12. An full-time student undergoing training in a 2-year course will need to apply for the Bursary at the start of the second year. Applicants for the Bursary must not be in receipt of the CDC & CCC- or any other scholarship/bursary award (excluding Edusave Merit Bursary). Company sponsored students and trainees are not eligible for the CDC & CCC- Bursary. Monthly Financial Assistance Scheme (MFAS) and Special Student Assistance Scheme (SSAS) The MFAS scheme aims to provide monthly allowance for a period to needy full-time Singaporean students who face special hardship circumstances and require regular financial assistance to help them with daily expenses. The SSAS scheme aims to provide financial assistance to Singaporean full-time students who require financial support after the application period for the CDC & CCC- Bursary. In a way, the SSAS is an exigency scheme to provide support to needy students, so that they can continue with their study. To apply for the financial assistance, an applicant is required to submit an on-line application form, followed submitting the supporting income documents to the where he/she is studying. 44
