1 Scholarships THE GATES MILLENNIUM SCHOLARS PROGRAM The Gates Millennium Scholars (GMS) Program selects 1,000 talented students each year to receive a good-through-graduation scholarship to use at any college or university of their choice. The 2015 GMS Online Application is open until the Wednesday, January 14, :59 pm EST deadline. Who ís Eligible? Students are eligible to be considered for a GMS scholarship if they meet all of the following criteria: Are African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian & Pacific Islander American or Hispanic American. Are a citizen, national or legal permanent resident of the United States Have attained a cumulative high school GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale or have earned a GED. Will enroll for the first time at a U.S. located, accredited college or university (with the exception of students concurrently pursuing a high school diploma) in the fall of 2014 as a full-time, degree-seeking, first-year student. First-time college enrollees can also be GED recipients. Have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service, extracurricular or other activities. The scholarship application can be accessed via the following link: DANIELS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM The Daniels Scholarship is an exciting and challenging program that provides the opportunity to obtain a four-year college education at any accredited nonprofit college or university in the United States, complete with financial and personal support throughout the journey. The Daniels Scholarship Program offers resources, encouragement, and inspiration far beyond the financial assistance needed to earn a college degree. Our goal is not only to help Daniels Scholars succeed in college, but to ensure that they thrive beyond their years in college. Every year, Daniels Scholars are selected from our four-state region of Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming. Daniels Scholars currently attend more than 200 colleges and universities in 44 states. Applications and recommendations must be submitted online through the application website between September 15 and November 17, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. MST. As part of the application, students are required to submit documents that will be used to verify their eligibility, such as official ACT/SAT scores; citizenship and residency documentation; and financial documents. To be eligible for the Daniels Scholarship Program, students must satisfy the following requirements at the time of application: Be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States, Be a resident of Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, or Wyoming, Be a high school senior graduating from a school in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, or Wyoming, Earn an ACT composite score of 17 or higher with no component score (math, English, reading, science) lower than 17; or earn an SAT combined math and critical reading score of 830 or higher, with math score no lower than 400 and critical reading no lower than 440. All test scores must come from a single test, and must be submitted by the application deadline. Superscoring is not allowed. Demonstrate financial need The scholarship application can be accessed via the following link: SOFTWAREPROVIDERS.COM SCHOLARSHIP This scholarship is for high school and home schooled students who graduated or earned a GED between August 1, 2013, and June 1, 2014, or who will enroll as freshmen at a two- or four-year college or university in the fall of Also eligible are students enrolled full-time at an accredited two- or four-year college or university or accredited graduate program during the academic year who are in good academic standing and will continue full-time enrollment through the academic year. Applicants must be US citizens or permanent legal US residents. To apply, applicants must submit an essay on one of two given topics related to software. 2 This scholarship is for high school seniors whose parent, guardian, grandparent, or great-grandparent meet one of the following criteria: 1. A Retired, Active Duty, National Guard, and Reserve Officer, or a Former Officer of the US Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force. To qualify, applicants must have a 3.0 GPA and a minimum score of 21 on the ACT or 1500 on the SAT. See website for complete details. Generous donors have raised the top scholarships to $12,000 with others ranging from $2,000 to $8,000. Significant legacy gifts have permitted the corporation to increase the total grants to sixteen. The scholarship application can be accessed via the following link: ANGEL DONOR GRANT Angel Donor Grant, a new grant made possible by the donations of individuals and foundations committed to improving the quality of education for Special Needs Students. The program is targeted towards Special Education Programs. In some regions, the funding may also be used to support the general student body. This grant money covers the full cost of Acellus Media Servers, Online Teacher & Administrator Training, Support and Set-Up costs for the Acellus program, as well as 50 percent of the cost of Acellus Student Licenses for 3 years. Licenses allow students to access unlimited content in all core areas including special education curriculum. The grant application can be accessed via the following link: MARY KNOLL ESSAY CONTEST ASSIGNMENT: Write a letter to Pope Francis telling him how you or young people you know have courage, go forward and make noise to build a better world. RULES: Students in grades 6 8 (Division I) and grades 9 12 (Division II) qualify. Entries must be written in English, only one entry per student. Please specify the division to which the entry is being submitted. Children of Maryknoll employees, Associates and Affiliates are not eligible. LENGTH: words. The grant application can be accessed via the following link: maryknoll-essay-contest-rules WENDY S HIGH SCHOOL HEISMAN For the past twenty years, Wendy's Restaurants have teamed up with the Heisman Memorial Trophy Committee to create the Wendy's High School Heisman Award. The award honors both male and female high school students who excel in academics, athletics and student leadership. We want applications from both male and female student athletes who exhibit excellence in the classroom, on the playing field, and within their communities. Eligibility for application is limited exclusively to men and women whose senior year of high school is the academic year, who have at least a B grade average, and participate in at least one of 27 sports. We want to hear from all student athletes who work hard, are dedicated, and have become role models for underclassmen. A student begins the application process by selecting Apply Now! An account must be created with name, address, and information. It is here that students establish their own User name and password, which will be required to log in, as often as needed prior to the deadline, to complete the application. Once the account is created, the student can launch the online application. At the initial launch, the student must answer eligibility questions. Eligible students will then proceed to the remaining sections of the application. They will describe their school involvement, athletic participation and leadership, and relate experiences from community involvement activities. In addition, the student must provide an accurate address of a school official who will log in to review the application and its contents, and confirm its accuracy. 3 Scholarships of up to $5,000 will be awarded to qualified applicants. Limited to one per family per semester. Applications for the 2015 spring semester are now being accepted. The deadline to apply for the 2015 spring semester is November 15. ELKS-MOST VALUABLE STUDENT Scholarship Value: $50,000 Awards Available: 500 Award Deadline: December 5, 2014 The Elks National Foundation will award 500 four-year scholarships to the highest-rated applicants in the 2015 competition. 1. Any high school senior who is a citizen of the United States is eligible to apply. 2. Applicants need not be related to a member of the Elks. 3. College students are not eligible to apply. 4. Applicants must be citizens of the United States on the date their applications are signed; permanent legal resident status does not qualify. 5. Male and female students compete separatelythe scholarship can be accessed via the following link: mpetition_scholarship.php AYN RAND ESSAY CONTESTS AMERICAN LEGION HIGH SCHOOL ORATORICAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM The American Legion High School Oratorical Scholarship Program is open to any High School Student public, parochial, military, private or state accredited home school, who is a citizen or lawful resident of the United States. Further, all contestants must be bona fide students under the age of 20 years on the date of the National Contest and must be enrolled in a high school or junior high school in which the curriculum is considered to be of high school level, commencing with grade 9 and terminating with grade 12. The top prize in the National Contest is a $18, scholarship, 2nd place $16,000.00, 3rd place - $14, Each Department winner who is certified into and participates in the first round of the National Contest will receive a $1, scholarship. Scholarships are sponsored by businesses and individuals through the National FFA Foundation and are given for a wide variety of experiences, career goals and higher education plans. The selection process takes into account the whole student - FFA involvement, work experience, Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE), community service, leadership skills and academics. More than 1,500 scholarships are available with just one application to complete for eligibility! 2015 National FFA Scholarship Program dates: Nov. 15, 2014: Scholarship application opens. THE AMERICAN LEGION LEGACY SCHOLARSHIP Those eligible to apply for the scholarship shall be the child/children or legally adopted child/children or a child of a spouse by a prior marriage or dependent child as defined by the United States Armed Services of active duty United States military and National Guard, and military reservists who were federalized and die on active duty on or after September 11, The applicant must be a high school senior or high school graduate to apply for the scholarship. RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE CHARITIES U.S. SCHOLARSHIPS Students across the country work hard to earn top marks, dreaming of the college they'll attend and the education they'll receive. Unfortunately, many of these students won t be able to afford it. We want these students to reach their full potential. To help them accomplish this, our network of U.S. Chapters, along with the global office of RMHC, offer scholarships to students in financial need who have demonstrated academic achievement, leadership and community involvement. Since 1985, more than $52 million in scholarships have been awarded. Scholarships are for students in the United States living in areas where there are participating local RMHC Chapters. Please note that not all Chapters offer all four scholarships below. HOW TO APPLY: Beginning October 1, 2014, students may apply online. Graduating high school seniors may only apply for one of the four scholarships.
