The fact is- seniors in our surrounding schools gave us data that shows more than half of you will graduate school NEVER having used any illegal substance. So don t let anyone make you feel like EVERYONE s doing it because not everyone is Thank you

5 One more fact for today- The Tobacco industry spends $400 on each customer buying their product to keep current users addicted. Tobacco companies spent over 200 MILLION dollars to flirt your government into letting them advertise and keep customersso save your money and your lungs- just don t

6 ATTENTION, JUNIORS! THE SENIORS MAY HAVE WON THE HOMECOMING HALL CONTEST, BUT WE WON T LET THEM WIN THE FOOD DRIVE! BRING IN YOUR NON-PERISHABLE CANNED GOOD TO THE MIXING BOWL EVERY DAY FROM NOW UNTIL OCTOBER 30 TH! IT S NOT JUST ABOUT BEATING THE SENIORS, IT S FOR A GOOD CAUSE! SO REMEMBER, JUNIORS BRING YOUR CANNED GOOD TO THE THE MIXING BOWL BETWEEN NOW AND OCTOBER 30 TH!

7 There will be MANDATORY debate meetings during STEP tomorrow and Wednesday. If you are debating this week, you MUST attend both meetings. The meetings will begin at exactly 11:00 AM. They will only last 15 minutes, but I need all debaters there. If you do not attend, you will be scratched from the debate. Again, mandatory debate meetings during STEP Tuesday and Wednesday in Ms. Young s room starting at 11:00 AM.

8 Attention all juniors!!! There will be a junior class meeting in the auditorium on Thursday, October 30 th during STEP. We will finalize the theme for prom, discuss the class of 2016 senior banquet, and discuss fundraising. All juniors should be in attendance. Again, there will be a junior class meeting on Thursday, October 30 th in the auditorium. It will begin promptly at 11:00 AM. It will not last longer than 20 minutes. All juniors should be in attendance. Remember if you don t attend and you don t vote-you cannot complain.

9 Teachers: Due to the PSAT s there was a change with Mr. Johnson s 3 rd period theater class Poetry Presentations! Instead of last Wednesday and Thursday October 15 th & 16 th, it will now be this Wednesday & Thursday, Oct. 22nd and 23rd in the auditorium. Again, the theater class poetry presentations will now be presented on Wednesday & Thursday Oct. 22 nd & 23rd, during period 3 in the auditorium. Sign-ups are in the mailroom. Listen to heart-felt original poems on topics like love, tragedy, social consciousness and the environment. See these works presented on the main stage with instrumental music, dance and slide show presentations!! Don t meet us there!!!beat us there!!!

Any Seniors who have not had their senior picture taken needs to plan to take it on the picture make up days this month October. Contact Mr. Wu if you have any Questions. Seniors, don t forget that you and your friends or loved ones can purchase a page just for yourselves to be featured in the yearbook. Contact Mr. Wu in C009 for details.

11 Attention all Drama Club members: There will be tech crew today after school at 2:30pm in the auditorium. We need you there the play is fast approaching!

12 Attention all students: The LFI students are running a canned food drive in the mixing bowl. Please place canned food in your class s box before Oct 30. The class who collects the most can attend a Halloween party Oct. 30! Thank you.

13 Calling all drum, bass, and piano players! We need some talented musicians to join us in the pit orchestra of our fall musical, Schoolhouse Rock, Live! Auditions will be held on Monday, October 20th beginning at 2:30pm in the band room. Auditioning pieces can be picked up at the drama call board located on the top floor next to the staircase in the B hallway, or see Mr. Tarzwell in room B200. Faculty members are also welcome to join in on the fun. And now for some career center news

14 There will be a college fair for Latino Juniors and Seniors on October 29 at the Bohrer Park Center in Gaithersburg. Watkins Mill will take one bus of students to the fair from 9:30 am to 11:30 am. Fifty colleges and universities will be present. The cost is free. Students need a signed permission slip to attend. Please stop by the College/Career Center to pick up a permission slip and to see the list of colleges that will attend. Signed forms will be accepted until Friday or until the bus is filled up whichever comes first.

15 There will be a parent night on October 28 for all Latino high school students and their parents at Gaithersburg HS beginning at 7 pm to talk about college readiness and financial aid for college. This event is on October 28, the night before the Latino College Fair. The event will be held in both English and Spanish. Stop by the College/Career Center for more info.

16 Remember students Watkins Mill High School will be partnering with the MVA to offer the Learner s Permit test here at Watkins Mill High School. If you are eligible to obtain your learner s permit and would like to take the test here at school, stop by the main office to pick up the application. The completed application must be returned to the main office no later than Friday, October 24 th. The test date will be Saturday, November 1 st at 1:00pm in the media center. 17 Attention: All girls interested in playing basketball; there will be a meeting on Weds at 11 am in room B118. The meeting will be brief. All participants must have a valid physical and must be eligible to play. Thanks. Have a good day.

18 We have girls Varsity Field Hockey today. Games beginning at 3pm. Also we have coed varsity Golf. The match begins at 3:30 at the Rattlewood golf course The boys and girls varsity soccer game begins at 5pm at here at the mill. Don t forget to support the varsity volleyball against Rockville HS see you there with your colors.
