4 A historical province First finding from the stone age 7000 bc. The biggest bronze age grave in Finland is built in Panelia, Eura 36 m x 30 m, height 4 m bc. 7 20 municipalities Eura A municipality of commerce and industry. One of Finland s most important municipalities in terms of prehistoric sites. Its more than 40 lakes are a true treasure, and the Ruukinpuisto ironworks park in Kauttua is a perfect summer destination. Eurajoki Energetic living all around. Tellingly, the Finnish word for electricity sähkö was invented here. Known for its nuclear power plant, Olkiluoto, the municipality is also home to the stately Vuojoki Manor. Harjavalta This town is renowned for its powerful industry and major corporations. The Emil Cedercreutz Museum and Harjula Artists Home are two of the town s main attractions. Honkajoki The Karvianjoki River flows through this township, which is blessed with a bucolic valley landscape. The municipality is known for its enterprise in machinery, greenhouses and food production. Huittinen This bustling bus traffic hub offers a charming river landscape. Municipal services combined with a thriving business environment and numerous educational opportunities form a functional whole. Jämijärvi Jämi paradise for people on the move: gliding, skiing in the summer and golf in the winter. Good living in the middle of spectacular countryside.

8 20 municipalities Kankaanpää The regional marketplace and a town of the arts, education and military surrounded by forest. This town of 12,300 is modern and unique, with plenty of room for creativity. Karvia Agriculture, services and small-scale industry provide employment for the residents of this small, but vibrant municipality. Karvia s main attractions are its full-coverage fibre optic network, unparalleled recreational activities and beautiful nature. Kokemäki The Kokemäenjoki River cuts through a region where graphics, metals and transport are keywords. The Kokemäki region is the berry basket of Satakunta, located right in the heart of the region. Köyliö This historically important municipality is also known as the only Catholic pilgrimage site in the Nordic countries: Kirkkokari as well as one of Satakunta s oldest summer stock theatres. Lavia This municipality s population doubles in the summer, when the cottage folk return after all, Lavia boasts an astounding 60 lakes. The Velhonvuori waterfall is also a sight worth seeing in the winter, as a magnificent icefall forms on the rock face.

9 20 municipalities Luvia A seaside municipality in beautiful countryside. The ketch Ihana and island of Laitakari draw in visitors every summer. This is the destination for cottage folk and nature lovers alike. Merikarvia A fishing paradise a maritime milieu and a splendid river with countless rapids. An ideal place to live close to nature. The population centre offers all basic services, daycare, a comprehensive school, an upper secondary school and a swimming pool. Local delicacies, such as Sanna s smoked fish and sea buckthorn treats are not to be missed. Nakkila Lampreys are the pride of Nakkila, representing Satakunta delicacies at their very finest. The television and film production centre, Villilä Studios, can be seen in such productions as the film Sibelius. Pomarkku An idyllic village milieu that is beautiful all year round. Short distances and beautiful nature make Pomarkku a lovely place to visit and live. Pori Pori Jazz, Yyteri, SuomiAreena, Kirjurinluoto, Villa Mairea. Pori is a place for work and play. The future is forged with a vibrant cultural scene, sports and student activity. The cityscape is dominated by the sea and river.

10 20 municipalities Rauma This maritime and port town, rich in tradition, is home to two UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Old Rauma, Sammallahdenmäki, magnificent boutiques, Lace Week, boating opportunities and Rauma s wonderful local dialect rauman giäl. Siikainen A traditional parish municipality among dozens of sparkling lakes. Living close to nature. The glass verandas of Siikainen are veritable masterpieces of woodwork. Säkylä This municipality is known for its well-stocked Lake Pyhäjärvi, the growing garrison at Huovinrinne and specialised food production. Säkylä s safe living environment and vital business sector make it an outstanding place to live and enjoy life. Ulvila The old Friitala leatherworks and Leineperi ironworks express the beauty of Ulvila. The town has a rich history as it was founded in 1365 as the third town in Finland.

15 World Heritage Sites Two of Finland s seven Unesco World Heritage Sites are located in Rauma. Old Rauma is the largest, most unite and living wood town area in the Nordic countries deriving from the middle ages. Täällä muinoin töin ja toimin raatoi rauhan mies, luonnon voitti loitsuvoimin, synnyt syvät ties. Kasvun kotipelto kantoi, raatajalle onnen antoi lämmin kotilies. Koska Suomen viljelystä uhkaa sorron yö, häätämään käy hävitystä täällä kansan työ. Nousee Satakunnan kansa, entisellä voimallansa karhun kämmen lyö.
