3 Introduction Overview Aerospace Software and Data Services (ASDS), the redesigned version of current Aerospace Database Service (ADS) website, provides customers the ease and efficiency to download data and software through a simpler, faster and intuitive design. This user guide describes the various features available on the new website and provides instructions on how to download the Navigation Databases (NavDB) and EGPWS Databases. 4 Getting Started Starting ASDS Logging on to ASDS Type < in your browser and click ENTER to open the ASDS home page as shown below: The following sections are available on the ASDS Homepage screen that unfolds in-front of you: 1 Our Software/Services 2 ASDS Login 3 OneNav+ 4 Now pay using your Credit Card 5 Customer Support 6 MyGDC.COM 7 FLY WHATS NEXT 8 Integrated Navigation Data Service 9 Smart Runway Smart landing Next 4

5 Our Software/Services The Our Software/Services section displays the database services that are provided by Honeywell. The section displays NavDB and EGPWS databases related links and other details. The subheads under NavDB will have the below shown details: Table 1 NavDB Tabs Tab Name Updates Links Product Specific Info Tools Flight Info Documents Description This section offers you the latest database related information across different market segments. For example, click NavDB -> Updates -> Market News -Honeywell Latest FMS Newsletter to view the FMS newsletter. The Links section provides you with links associated to database services. The various link available are: 1. NavDB Production Schedule 2. INDS Website 3. Service Information Letter For example, click NavDB -> Links -> Nav DB Production Schedule to view the schedule planned for the current year. The Product Specific Info section provides you information on the Navigation Database service for the different platforms. For example, click NavDB -> Product Specific Info -> Primus EPIC to view the database service available for Primus EPIC platform. The Download Tools section facilitates to download a tool/document required for database services. For example, click NavDB -> Download Tools -> OneNav+ to download the OneNav installer in the system. For flight information such as alerts/notices, Content/Procedures and so on, you can refer to this section. For example, click NavDB -> Flight Info -> Alerts/Notices to view Honeywell s general notices, flight safety alerts and so on. The tools and documents associated with NavDB are made available to you here. For example, click NavDB -> Documents -> NavDB Production Schedule to view cycle wise calendar of Navigation data base production schedule. P.S.: Every 28 days the database is updated and uploaded to the site. Hence you must login and download the latest database for efficient flight operations. The subheads under EGPWS will have the below shown details: Tab Name Table 2 EGPWS Tabs Description Updates This section offers you the latest EGPWS database related information and news. and. Links The Links section provides you with links associated to database services. The various link available are: 1. EGPWS Search 2. EGPWS Technical Information For example, click EGPWS -> Links -> EGPWS Search to search for a specific airport or runway in a particular EGPWS database Flight Info For flight information such as alerts/notices, Content/Procedures and so on, you can refer to this section. For example, click EGPWS -> Flight Info -> Alerts/Notices to view Honeywell s general notices, flight safety alerts and so on. Tools The Download Tools section facilitates to download a tool/document required for database services. For example, click EGPWS -> Download Tools -> OneNav+ to download the OneNav installer in the system. Previous Return to Contents Page 5

6 Getting Started Starting ASDS Logging on to ASDS As an authorized user, you need to log in to ASDS website to download databases, subscribe, and purchase softwares. To log on to ASDS: On the ASDS Home page, in the Login section: 1. Type your Honeywell ID. 2. Type your Password. 3. Click Sign In. 4. Click Continue on the pop-up that appears (shown below) On successful log on, the ASDS Dashboard page appears, as shown below 4 NOTE If you do not have a Honeywell ID, click Register to create a Honeywell ID. If you forget your Honeywell ID, click the Forgot your ID? link and follow the on-screen instructions to retrieve your ID. If you forget your password, click the Forgot your Password? and follow the on-screen instructions to reset the password. To remember your ID on the computer, select the Remember my ID check box. However, selecting this checkbox is not recommended for shared systems. User ID Management helps to manage the user profile such as changing the current password, retrieving forgotten password, retrieving User ID, viewing/ editing account details, testing the account status. 7 DOWNLOADING Navigation Database (NavDB) DATABASE(S) NavDB Downloads Downloading NavDB Downloading & ing NavDB Associated Documents As an authorized user, you can download NavDB from the ASDS site. 1. Post login, on the ASDS dashboard, you can view the number of new databases that are available for download. 2. Under My Downloads, click Go To My Downloads The License Agreement dialog box appears. Click Accept 3 Next 7

The NavDB Downloads page appears On the NavDB download page, you can: Download current and previous cycle databases View documents and additional information associated with a NavDB Send the documents to your preferred address. The following indicators are available on the NavDB Downloads page: 1. The CYCLE represents the current database cycle in YYYYMM format 2. The Effective Date represents the date on which the database must be put into use. Every 28 days the database is updated and uploaded to the site. Hence you must login and download the latest database for efficient flight operations. 3. The Database ID (for example, 6N5) indicates the unique ID of the subscribed database. 4. The (USB), (CD) and (Floppy disk) icons indicate the media type supported by the database. Previous Return to Contents Page 8

9 DOWNLOADING Navigation Database (NavDB) DATABASE(S) NavDB Downloads Downloading NavDB Downloading & ing NavDB Associated Documents On the NavDB Downloads page, the NavDBs are listed in the descending order of the posted date, with the most recent ones preceding the later ones: 1. Choose the database you wish to download. Or 2. Search for a database ident from the list. 3. Note: We also give you the option of Viewing Previous Cycle Databases: Click View Previous Cycle Database Cycle: <database cycle>. The database and its documents are displayed. 4. Click against the database you wish to download. The media type supported by each NavDB is displayed against the NavDB ident through an icon. Files which are successfully downloaded can be identified with the green tick mark against the media icon. 5. Click Save on the pop-up to download and save the file to a directory of your choice. Note: This pop-up would appear if the website is accessed through IE browser. For other browsers like Chrome, Safari, Firefox the file would be saved in your default downloads folder. 6. Browse and select the directory where you would like to download the file. Click Save Next 9

10 7. On successful download, you can find the file on your computer as an icon or as a file in a directory. 8. Double click on the file (Whichever way it is visible to you) and follow the instructions depending on the media type supported. Previous Return to Contents Page 10

Or Search for the database ident from the list. In the section, click. The document links are displayed as Click Content to download data contents of the associated document. Click Detailed Report to download the full associated document. Now to this document, Click on ( all documents) A dialog box asking to verify your address appears Click on Continue if you want to receive the documents on the registered address. OR To change your address and receive the documents at a different address, click on Update. A dialogue box (as shown below) will appear on screen. Enter the new address and click OK. A confirmation box will be displayed and the documents will be sent to your new address. Please note: The updated address will not be saved to your Honeywell profile. To update your Honeywell profile with new id go to Profile Management. Return to Contents Page 11

Under My Downloads, click Go To My Downloads 2. The License Agreement dialog box appears. Click Accept 2 3. The NavDB download page appears for users with both NavDB and EGPWS role. Next 12

Click on EGPWS tab to go to the EGPWS Downloads page On the EGPWS download page, you can: Download databases View documents and additional information associated with an EGPWS download Send the documents to your preferred address. Choose the database you wish to download. Or 2. Search for a database ident from the list. 3. Click against the database you wish to download. The media type supported by each EGPWS database is displayed against the EGPWS database ident through an icon e.g:. Files which are successfully downloaded can be identified with the green tick mark against the media icon Click Save on the pop-up to download and save the file to a directory of your choice. 17 LOGGING OFF FROM ASDS After successfully downloading the subscribed databases, scroll to the top right corner of the NavDB or EGPWS Download page and click on Logout. The logout process is initiated and the Home Page appears, with an empty login space. Return to Contents Page 17

18 Appendix Creating NavDB Loadable A. FROM WEB LINK TO FLOPPY DISK (Using Windows Explorer) 1. Download and save the NavDB file in the directory of your choice, as described in Download NavDB section. Double click on the file (Whichever way it is visible to you). 2. Once the compressed file is clicked the opening menu looks like this. Fill out as indicated and click on ok. 3. The application will ask permission to execute step 2. Click Yes. Next 18

19 4.The application is saying the unzip process is complete. Now ready to make floppies. Click OK. 5. Do you want to run the program to make the floppies? Click on Yes. (Due to the Check box in step 2) 6. Type in the right drive letter, click OK Previous Next 19

20 7. Reminder to put a floppy disk in the drive, Click Yes 8. Once the process starts you will see this message. You will see the Copying message twice on Disk Once Disk 1 is complete, the screens from step 7 repeat. Click Yes again Previous Next 20

21 10. You are done. Click OK. Go load and fly. B. FROM WEB LINK TO USB DRIVE 1. Download and save the NavDB file in the directory of your choice, as described in Download NavDB section. Double click on the file (Whichever way it is visible to you). 2. Change the Extract To destination using the Browse button to your USB Drive (F:\ or G:\ usually, but may vary depending on your PC). Click on OK to continue and extract directly to the USB Drive. Previous Next 21

22 3. You are done. Click OK. Go load and fly. C. FROM WEB LINK TO CD DRIVE 1. Download and save the NavDB file in the directory of your choice, as described in the Download NavDB section. Double click on the file (Whichever way it is visible to you). Previous Next 22

23 2. Right click on the zip file and extract the contents to the folder where you want the files to be saved (for this example we re using WinZip). 3. Insert the CD into the drive. After inserting you get this message. Select the With a CD/DVD player option. Click Next Previous Next 23

24 4. Find the unzipped file folder on your computer and open it. Select the complete content of the unzipped file folder (you can use the combination of the [Ctrl] + [A] Keys) and Copy it to the DVD Drive Important Note: This tutorial will guide you to create a CD using Windows 7 default burning tool. Please make sure you have a CD-R media type disc and NOT a CD-RW (Re-Writable CD) as the media will not work with this format. Previous Next 24

25 5. Right click and select the Burn to disc option from the menu. 6. Enter the title for your CD on the next screen. Click Next Previous Next 25

26 7. The progress of data getting copied to the CD can be seen. Click Next once done. 8. Click Finish and CD is ready to go.
