1 Secure Share (Novell Filr) Remote Teacher Video Sharing Process School Year UTHealth Secure Share (Novell Filr) is a Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) compliant online system which allows safe transfer and storage of student level data. The following steps outline how Texas School Ready! (TSR) Remote Teachers will send and receive videos to and from their TSR Remote Coach through Secure Share folders. Step 1: Registration and Confirmation In order to access your Secure Share Remote Folder created by your TSR coach, you must register with Secure Share. If you have already registered with Secure Share for another TSR process, such as Roster Collection, skip to Step 2. It is strongly recommended that you use Google Chrome as your browser for this process. 1. Click on the link in the from your TSR coach with the subject <CoachName> has invited you to access an item (< Your Name> - Remote Folder ) Your coach s address will end If you do not see the in your inbox, check your Spam or Junk folder for the . In the example below, Alice Watkins is the coach and Tilly Green is the teacher: 2. Complete all fields on the Novell Filr Registration window and click the Register button: The User ID must be the address that the original Secure Share was sent to. This field should already be prepopulated for you. Enter a password that is secure but easy to remember. 3. Once complete, click the Register button. You will receive the following confirmation: 1 P a g e

2 4. Next, return to your inbox. You will receive a second with the subject Your access to the item is confirmed from the address filr-admin@uthouston.edu. Click on the Sign in and access shared item link in the Enter your User ID ( address used for registration) and self-created password and click the Sign In button. Once you have registered with Secure Share (Novell Filr) in the future you can login to the website through this link: Login with your and self-created password. Click on the Shared with Me button at the top of your screen to see your Remote Teacher Folder: Step 2: Downloading Coach Videos You have two options to review your coach video: Option 1: Stream the video through a web browser. o In your Secure Share Remote Teacher Folder, click once on your coach s video file. The video will automatically begin playing in a new browser tab. You can pause the video, adjust the sound of the video, and make the video full screen through this player. 2 P a g e

3 Option 1 is only recommended for quick review of coach videos. It is best to use Option 2 for safe storage and review of coach videos: Option 2: Download the coach file and play it from your computer. 1. In your Secure Share Remote Teacher Folder, click on the drop down arrow next to the file. 2. Select Download as Zip. 3. Your Downloads folder will open with the zipped video file. Select Extract all files at the top left corner of the window. 3 P a g e

4 4. In the Extract Compressed (Zipped) Folders pop-up window, select Extract. o Make sure the Show extracted files when complete option is checked. 5. Move the extracted video file to your Remote Coaching Videos folder on your desktop by right clicking on the video file and select Cut. 6. Minimize the Video Camera folder and locate your Remote Coaching Videos folder on your desktop. Double click to open the folder. 7. Right click in your Remote Coaching Videos folder and select Paste. If you have difficulty streaming the video through the website, then it is recommended you download the video to your computer. Your Secure Share (Novell Filr) Remote folder has a size limit. Video files are quite large so this folder will become full very quickly if older files are not removed. Your coach will remove old video files as new ones need to be added. Saving a copy of your coach s video files to your computer will allow you to review them at any time. 4 P a g e

5 Step 3: Uploading Remote Teacher Videos 1. In your Secure Share Remote Teacher Folder, click the Add Files button. 2. Either drag and drop the video file(s) from your computer s folder into the blue box area or click the Browse button to search your computer for the file(s). It is recommended that you only attempt to upload 1 video file at a time. The video file will automatically upload to the folder. Contact your Remote TSR Coach to let them know you have uploaded a Remote Video file to your Secure Share folder. 6 Additional Information How to Reset your Secure Share (Novell Filr) Password If you misplace your Secure Share password you can reset your password by 1. Click on the link in the from your TSR coach with the subject: <CoachName> has invited you to access an item (< Your Name> - Remote Folder). Alternatively copy and paste the following link into your browser to go directly to the Secure Share login page: 2. On the Secure Share login page, click on the Forgot your password? link. 3. In the Forgot Your Password? box, type in your address and click the OK button. 4. When you receive the pop-up message An has been sent. Please follow the instructions in the to reset your password. click the OK button and return to your Inbox. 5. Open the from it_storage@uth.tmc.edu with the subject Forgotten Password Notification. Click on the Forgotten Password Notification link in the Type in a new password into the Password and Re-enter password boxes and then click the Reset password button. 7. When you receive the message below, return to your Inbox. 8. Open the from it_storage@uth.tmc.edu with the subject Password Reset Verification Required.
