1 OTTAWA ONLINE MAT College Geometry Course Description College Geometry gradually introduces the student of mathematics to formal proof using geometric properties. The course explores problem solving strategies using geometry, formal synthetic Euclidean geometry, and informal non-euclidean geometries. This is a fully online, eight-week course. We will not meet face-to-face at any time. Course Prerequisites None. Course Objectives Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to: Apply problem-solving skills to geometric applications. Identify, interpret and apply fundamental properties of two- and threedimensional geometric shapes. Write, read and comprehend mathematical proof of geometric relationships. Identify, interpret and apply established geometric relationships to applied problems. Write, read and comprehend axiomatic properties of synthetic Euclidean geometry at level presented. Identify, interpret and apply other non-euclidean geometries to geometric problems. Required Text Musser, G, Trimpe, L, & Maurer, V.
