1 We Support Putting a Price on Carbon Seventy-four countries, 23 subnational jurisdictions, and more than 1,000 companies and investors expressed support for a price on carbon ahead of the UN Secretary-General s Climate Summit. In the private sector, over 1,000 businesses and investors aligned with the Put a Price on Carbon Statement, the Carbon Price Communiqué, the Caring for Climate Initiative, or the 2014 Global Investor Statement on Climate Change. That includes 347 institutional investors who signed the investor statement, which includes a call for governments to Provide stable, reliable and economically meaningful carbon pricing that helps redirect investment commensurate with the scale of the climate change challenge, and 37 non-governmental organizations aligned with the Put a Price on Carbon Statement. Supporters include the European Union and ICLEI, a network of over 1,000 cities. To date nearly 400 companies from 60 countries have called for "the urgent creation, in close consultation with the business community and civil society, of comprehensive, long-term and effective legislative and fiscal frameworks designed to make markets work for the climate, in particular policies and mechanisms intended to create a stable price for carbon."
