1 Dear Participants, As you already know, unlike previous years, the 2011 ICABR Annual Conference will take place in a charming town, Frascati, located 20 km south-east of Rome. The venue will be Villa Mondragone ( ) an ancient Villa from the 1600s that belongs to the University of Rome Tor Vergata. Frascati is a charming town in the heart of the territory called Castelli Romani. From the beautiful terraces of Frascati you can enjoy a wonderful panoramic view of the city of Rome and its surroundings. We will need to arrange transportation as the Villa Mondragone is located just outside of the community of Frascati. We hope that the special ambiance of the Villa, the scientific and the social program, will compensate for your efforts. All the logistics for accommodation and transportation will be organized by Mrs. Laura Basilico (laura@daltours.it). You are invited to contact her. She will organize shuttle transportation from/to airports to the Hotels in Frascati at reasonable prices. Waiting time at the airport will not exceed 1 hour or so. The schedule of the shuttles will be available right before the conference starts, once all the itineraries will be confirmed. The tentative program is enclosed to this . The Conference will start on Sunday 26 th, 2011 at Villa Mondragone, early afternoon with a Pre-Conference Workshop on the Economics, the Technology, 1

2 and Sustainability of the Wine and Beer Industry. This will be followed by a welcome cocktail, and an Italian Wine, Beer, and Regional Gourmet Tasting. The ICABR Conference will take place in Villa Mondragone on the 27 th and 28 th, However, the 29 th we will move to the Campus of the Faculty of Tor Vergata to have the joint sessions with the EAERE. Transportation will be provided from Frascati. As Villa Mondragone is located right outside Frascati, and on the top of a hill surrounded by olive trees, we are also organizing shuttle transportation from the main hotels to the venue. That is the reason why we have restricted the conference hotels to two. The hotels that will guarantee the agreed rate until the end of June are: Grand Hotel Villa Tuscolana ( ), and Villa Vecchia ( ) From Villa Tuscolana to Villa Mondragone, there will be a shuttle in the morning, one in the afternoon, and transportation for special hours can be arranged upon request. Villa Vecchia is minutes walking distance from Villa Mondragone... but those who wish to walk will have to face a steep uphill. Shuttles will be available also there. The rate in Villa Tuscolana Single room: 100 Euro/night Standard Double (single use): 145 Euro/night Standard Double: 182 Euro/night Rates are per room per night including breakfast. Please note that the Single rooms are small rooms (even tough very beautiful and with panoramic view) and with no air conditioning. Air conditioning will not be a problem, Villa Tuscolana is an historical building and the temperature in Frascati does not require it. The rate in Villa Vecchia Single room: 90 Euro/night Standard Double (single use): 120 Euro/night Standard Double: 155 Euro/night Rates are per room per night including breakfast. If you are looking for different options, you can contact Mrs. Basilico, and she will help you finding the best solution. Please, if you book by yourself, hotels in Frascati may not all provide transportation to Villa Mondragone, and public transportation is very limited. 3 For those who prefer own arrangement, directions to reach Frascati can be found below. GETTING TO ROME Rome has two main airports: - Leonardo da Vinci (Fiumicino) and - Ciampino. Leonardo da Vinci (Fiumicino) is the main airport of Rome and it is about 32 kilometers from the city centre and 40 kilometers from Frascati. Ciampino is the second airport of Rome, which is mainly dedicated to low cost airlines. It is about 15 kilometers from both Rome city centre and Frascati. GETTING TO FRASCATI If you arrive at Leonardo da Vinci (Fiumicino) Airport You have three options to get to Frascati: A) Public Transportation (Train) From the railway station located at the upper floor of the airport arrival terminals, take the Leonardo express train directly to Roma-Termini station (Rome s central station). The train leaves every 30 minutes from 6.36 a.m. until p.m. (see the time table) and it takes 31 minutes to reach Termini station. The price of the ticket is 14 euro and it can be bought whether online (Trenitalia website) or at ticket offices, self-service ticket machines, travel agencies, authorized tobacco/newspapers shops or at Trenitalia desk located close to the train at the price of 15 euro. The Leonardo express leaves from/arrives at platforms 27 and 28 in Roma Termini Station. Once arrived at Termini station, take the regional train to Frascati. From the platform where Leonardo express arrives, you will need 5/10 minutes walking to reach the platform from where the regional train to Frascati leaves. Regional trains to Frascati leave almost every hour from 06:32 a.m. to 9.54 p.m. and take 29 minutes to reach Frascati central station. The price of the ticket is 1,90 euro and it can be bought at ticket offices at Termini station (open every day from a.m. to p.m.), self-service ticket machines, travel agencies, and tobacco/newspapers shops inside Termini station. 4 B) Taxi Official taxi service to Rome is available in correspondence of Terminals 1, 2, 3 and 5 of the airport. The price for a taxi from Fiumicino Airport to Roma-Termini station is about 45 euro. Once arrived at Termini station, you can take the regional train to Frascati (see the above indications). If you prefer to take a taxi from Fiumicino Airport directly to Frascati, consider that the price will be about 60/80 euro. Do not trust unofficial taxi, they will charge you with higher fees! C) Rent a car The desks of several car rental companies are located just outside the arrivals hall at Fiumicino Airport: Telephone Web site Avis Europcar Herz Italy by car Maggiore Auto Europa Targa Rent Sixt If you arrive at Ciampino Airport You have three options to get to Frascati: A) Public Transportation (Bus + Train) From the area just outside the arrivals hall at Ciampino Airport (Gate 2), take the Atral bus to Ciampino train station (line Aeroporto di Ciampino - Stazione FS Ciampino). The bus takes only 5 minutes to get to Ciampino station and it leaves almost every 20 minutes according to the following time table: Aeroporto di Ciampino - Stazione FS Ciampino Working Days and Holidays: * * * *** *** * * * * *On holidays only ***Except on Saturday an on holidays 4

5 The price of the ticket is 1,20 euro. It is possible to buy it online (Atral website), at the information desk inside the arrivals hall or directly on board. Once arrived at Ciampino station, take the regional train to Frascati. Regional trains to Frascati leave almost every hour from 06:03 a.m. to p.m. and take 13 minutes to reach Frascati central station. The price of the ticket is 1 euro and it can be bought at ticket offices at Ciampino station, self-service ticket machines, and tobacco/newspapers shops inside Ciampino station. Remember to validate the ticket at the yellow machines located at the front of each platform before going on board.
