5 Sendai (public) The first Finnish Wellbeing Center in Japan. Planning started in 2001 Facilities opened in 2005 The center provides long-term care for 100 clients, short-term stay for 20 clients and a day service unit for 15 clients. Finpro picked 16 Finnish companies which delivered their technologies to Sendai. Most are small companies. The building was designed by Finnish architect company Paatela-Paatela & Co. Designing the Wellbeing Center was funded by Finpro, TEKES, STAKES and city of Oulu. Investment costs were financed by the Japanese. The building site has also a R&D center. The construction work was worth approximately EUR 33 million. 8 STARTS collaboration (private) A large Japanese real estate company STARTS has cooperated with FWBC Finland since April The cooperation can lead to building of 1-5 new wellbeing centers every year for the next 10 years. During 2010, STARTS had a plan of building a Finnish Wellbeing Center to Tokyo. As of 2010, STARTS already had a total of 450 different wellbeing centers for the elder in Japan.
