3 Dear College Bound AZ Supporters: We really want to extend a special and heartfelt thank you to the many of you that stepped up to support us this year. As many of you know, it was a sign of the times when we took a 90% budget cut from the previous year. The Board met to discuss our contingency plan which was to cut the middle school program to ensure the continuation of the high school program. It came as a surprise when the Board instead opted to roll up its sleeve and implement a fundraising campaign with some great ideas. We are still in the midst of that fundraising plan. It began with a sponsorship campaign at the beginning of the school year with our 8 th graders and families finding program sponsors based on essays the students wrote about their dreams and aspirations. The First-to-Go campaign was a success, and it allowed College Bound to tell its story to more people. That effort was followed by a collaboration with Organ Stop Pizza in October. Since then we have been planning our participation in the annual AZ Gives Day which is April 7, 2015, all in the hopes of raising $10,000 through corporate and community donations by June 1, That is the amount that will let us provide at least a minimum of services to students in poverty and help provide them a shot at continuing their education after high school. Thanks to your generosity, we are going to make it. We will be able to continue our laptop scholarships to those who need them, facilitate the Individual Development Account scholarships for students who find that they will be working while in college, and continue the $1,000 Jo Wilson scholarship for leadership and community service. A special thank you to our mentors who are community volunteers giving their time to promote our youth toward college success. Thank you all so very much! Dr. Jerry Lee Board Chair Elizabeth Paulus Executive Director
