2 2 Diversity Blueprint Goal 2: Recruitment & Retention - Undergraduate Students Recruitment Direct outreach Astronomy Department, Pre-MAP program introduces underrepresented first-year college students at UW to astronomy research; students learn astronomical research techniques and apply them to research projects conducted in small groups. College of Engineering, The Genomics Outreach for Minorities (GenOM) Project - provides educational and research opportunities for underrepresented minority students interested in genomics. These programs target pre-college and undergraduate students. Involving undergraduates in outreach and mentoring Washington State Early Outreach Partnership compiles and shares best practices in outreach The Pipeline Project A K-12 outreach program that connects undergraduate students with educational and service opportunities in local and regional schools and community organizations through tutoring and mentoring Adelante - An event that is geared toward the recruitment and outreach of prospective Latino students applying to UW. The goal of this conference is not only to promote higher education, but also provide empowerment and leadership skills catered toward Latino(a)/Chicano(a) issues. The Dream Project - a student-initiated high school outreach program that operates as a University of Washington course, partnering UW students with first-generation and low-income high school students to help them achieve the dream of attending college.
