1 OK PROMISE Parents of 8 th -10 th graders need to make sure their student is signed up for OK Promise. This is the program that offers FREE college tuition for qualifying Oklahoma students. Come by the school or have your student come by my office to pick up a form. Everything is done online. Once your student is registered with OK Promise, they remain registered unless there is a change is school. In that case, you must notify them of the change so that they can connect you with the new school. SCHEDULES Schedule changes are now complete. Even if you don t have a senior, be sure and scan the scholarship list. Many times things are available to underclassmen and first year college students. Students may pick up copies of these in the zebra folder pockets on my outside door. Please encourage them to apply for any and all scholarships. You never know what they re going to get and every little bit helps when it comes to money for college. I ve included a list below with links to follow. 2 graduating class of high school students. The waiver amounts are based on the student's composite score on the national ACT. Students who score a 21 are eligible for a 3 hour credit tuition waiver. Scores of receive a 6 hour credit tuition waiver, scores of will receive a 9 hour credit tuition waiver, and scores of will receive a 12 hour credit tuition waiver. Students with exceptional scores a 31 or higher will receive a 15 hour credit tuition waiver. All waivers are per semester; freshman year only. Website: Folds of Honor Foundation Deadline: Accepted Year Round Provides post-secondary educational scholarships for children and spouses of military service men and women killed or disabled while serving our great nation. Website: McNair Scholars Program Deadline: Year Round Scholarship program is designed to prepare students for careers as graduate students, professors or professional researchers. Must be full time student, with 42 hours or more completed, 3.0 GPA & first generation college student or student from an underrepresented ethnic group. Website: Oklahoma City Community Foundation If you're looking for scholarships, don't forget to visit OCCF.org. There you'll find an abundance of scholarship opportunities for students right here in Oklahoma. The Oklahoma City Community Foundation is home to more than 120 scholarship funds established by individuals, organizations and companies. These funds share the common goal of helping to make a difference in the lives of others. The foundation is now able to receive your transcripts electronically if your high school participates in this free service. Please see website for details on the list of scholarships. Website: SMART Part of the National Defense Education Program, science, math, and research for transformation. Open to undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Website: Varsity Tutors Scholarship Deadline: Monthly Varsity Tutors holds a monthly $1,000 college scholarship contest where students must write an essay in response to a monthly prompt. Visitors to the Varsity Tutors scholarship webpage are able to vote via social media for submitted entries. The top five entries with the most votes are reviewed by Varsity

3 Tutors at the end of the month and one winner is subsequently chosen to receive the $1,000 college scholarship. Website: Concussion Awareness Scholarship Deadline: Monthly Cash Scholarships for 2015 (Every 7 th of the month) Up to twelve $1,000 cash scholarships for The cash scholarship may be used for any documented related expenses incurred during 2015 while pursuing your education or for any documented expenses you will incur for the 2015 college year. Any graduate or undergraduate student (future or current) that has been accepted or attends a community college, technical/trade college, or university may apply. This "Concussion Awareness Scholarship" is available to all students not just student athletes. Website: SEPTEMBER SCHOLARSHIPS Walmart Associate Scholarship Deadline: September 3, 2015 A college scholarship is available to Walmart and Sam's Club associates who are based in the U.S.Awards are based on demonstrated financial need and community involvement. The Foundation has modified its Walmart Associate Scholarship program (formerly Wal-Mart Higher Reach Scholarship), so associates pursuing associate and bachelor degrees through accredited 2-year and 4-year institutions and associates participating in the Lifelong Learning Program through American Public University are eligible to receive support. The Foundation is accepting applications and awarding Walmart Associate Scholarships multiple times throughout the year. Eligibility: Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Legal Resident of the United States. Must be employed part-time or full-time with any division of Walmart for at least six consecutive months prior to the appropriate application due date. Must have graduated high school/home school or obtained a GED before applying or be a graduating high school senior who intends to enroll in a college or university upon graduation. If applying as a graduating high school senior, must wait to apply until you are within 6 months of starting your college courses. Must have financial need and be able to demonstrate the need with required documents. (Note: Students with other funds that pay entirely for tuition, books, fees, and on-campus room and board are ineligible.) Website: Siemens Competition in Math, Science, and Technology Deadline: September 22, 2015 The Siemens Foundation established the Siemens Competition in Math, Science & Technology in The Competition is the nation's premiere science research competition for high school students and seeks to promote excellence by encouraging students to undertake individual or team research projects. It fosters intensive research that improves students' understanding of the value of scientific study and informs their consideration of future careers in these disciplines. You can compete as an individual or as a member of a two or three-person team. Scholarships for winning projects range from $1,000 to

Website: Oklahoma Hall of Fame Scholarship Deadline: September 25, 2015 Begun in 2010, the Oklahoma Hall of Fame and Gaylord-Pickens Museum award one Oklahoma high school senior the Oklahoma Hall of Fame Scholarship annually. The $5,000 scholarship, which is dispersed to the winning student over four years, is based on the student's leadership roles, civic/community involvement, academic achievement and knowledge and pride of our great state. To be considered for this award, students must commit to attend an Oklahoma college or university and must be nominated by a teacher, administrator, mentor, coach or community leader not related to the student. Website: QuestBridge National College Matching Program Deadline: September 28, 2015 The QuestBridge National College Match is a college and scholarship application process that helps outstanding low-income high school seniors gain admission and full four-year scholarships to the nation's most selective colleges. If you are a student who has achieved academic excellence in the face of economic challenges, we encourage you to apply to the National College Match. QuestBridge's partner colleges offer generous financial aid packages that cover 100% of demonstrated financial need, making them very affordable for low-income students. Eligibility: In order to be eligible to apply for the National College Match in the fall of 2015, applicants must graduate from high school during or before the summer of 2016 and plan to enroll as a freshman in college in the fall of 2016.The QuestBridge National College Match is open to all: U.S. citizens and permanent residents & students, regardless of citizenship, currently attending high school in the United States Website: Vic Jackson Memorial Aviation Scholarship Deadline: September 30, 2015 Each year the Oklahoma Pilot's Association awards an aviation scholarship for a minimum amount of $2000. Any private pilot meeting the eligibility requirements listed below may apply for this scholarship. Eligibility Requirements: State of Oklahoma resident for at least six months prior to postmarked date of application. (If your parents claim you as a dependent for income tax purposes and they reside in a state other than Oklahoma, you are a resident of that state, not Oklahoma.) Proof of U.S. Citizenship. Financial Need. Two letters of recommendation, one which must be signed by a local person actively working in or directly involved with aviation education. Private Pilot at least 18 years of age with a current medical certificate.
