2 2016 Miss Watermelon of Pageland Pageant Competition Information All divisions will compete in evening wear and photogenic. Teen and Miss Divisions will compete in casual/summer wear in addition to beauty and photogenic. No swimsuits please. Sunday dresses or pageant dresses are allowed in Baby Petite divisions. Divisions Junior Miss must compete in a pageant dress. Dresses need to be age appropriate. This is NOT a glitz pageant, make up is allowed as well as spray tan as long as you look natural. Contestants will need to bring one photo. A 5x7 or 8x10, color or black and white is acceptable. Names need to be on the back of photos please. Photos do NOT have to be professional or a headshot. ***Please note: Both the Teen and Miss divisions have the option to use their Watermelon titles to compete at the Miss South Carolina pageant. If you choose this option, please notify the directors for more information. Winners will incur all the expenses to compete however we will help in securing sponsorships if needed Miss Watermelon Spirit of Pageland This year we have added a new category. The Miss Watermelon Spirit of Pageland title will be given to the one (1) contestant who collects the most votes. Included in the application is a signature sheet that you may duplicate if necessary. There will also be a voting table set up during the pageant to collect more votes. Votes will be $1.00 each. No loose change please. The Watermelon Spirit of Pageland will not be announced until the end of the pageant. The winner will receive a special crown, embroidered sash, trophy and title of 2016 Miss Watermelon Spirit of Pageland. ***The Miss Watermelon Spirit of Pageland is a special award. This year, we will honor Ms. Janet Mangum who is an outstanding leader in the Pageland Community and has directed the Miss Watermelon of Pageland pageant for many years. Several weeks ago, Janet had an arteriovenous malformation (AVM) in her brain that ruptured. The resulting pressure has caused symptoms similar to aneurysm and stroke. All the money collected from The Watermelon Spirit of Pageland will go to her family for her care.

3 ~Judges will have prior experience in the pageantry field. They will be told that this is a natural pageant. They will be looking for natural beauty, grace, poise, confidence and personality. ~At no time will anyone be allowed to approach the judges or auditor. If you would like a copy of scoresheets please provide a self- addressed stamped envelope the day of the pageant when you register. ~Admission: $5.00 per person CASH ONLY (ages 4 and under free) Each contestant will be allowed two chaperones backstage however only one chaperone will be admitted free of charge. No males will be allowed backstage. We will have an area set up for family/friends to take photos of contestants. ~Each division will have pictures taken on stage after crowning. All division queens are expected to stay for the pageant duration and a group picture of all queens will be taken for publication. ~The 2016 Miss Watermelon queens are asked to attend the Pageland Watermelon Festival on July 16. A queen s parade float will be provided for current reigning queens. We ask that you appear at some of the festivities and promote your appearances on your personal Facebook pages. ~Our Teen and Miss Watermelon of Pageland will be expected to make other appearances at Pageland Chamber of Commerce events throughout the year. The pageant directors will keep in touch to schedule these events. ~If you would like to attend any other event promoting the Watermelon of Pageland title you are welcome to do so with prior approval from the pageant directors. If you attend any event representing your Watermelon of Pageland title you will not be allowed to attend if you are appearing with any other pageant system or organization. ~You are allowed to compete in other pageants and pageant systems. You may also hold other pageant titles as well. However you are expected to appear at the Pageland Watermelon Festival representing your Watermelon of Pageland title for the duration of the festival. This also applies to any festival within the Chesterfield County community that you attend as a titleholder.

Checks should be made payable to Pageland Chamber of Commerce. There will be a $35.00 charge on return checks. ***Entry Fee $50.00 by June 11, There will be a $20.00 late fee after this date. 5 2016 Miss Watermelon of Pageland Pageant Consent Form I have read and understand all the rules and regulations outlined in the Miss Watermelon of Pageland pageant. I agree not to hold the Pageland Chamber of Commerce, pageant directors, volunteers or venue liable for injury, loss or theft. I am aware that any photos taken at the pageant may be used for advertisement online and in printed publication and I give permission for that use. I understand that if I win a Miss Watermelon of Pageland title that I am not allowed to use that title to represent any other pageant system or organization in any way. I also understand as a titleholder I may be asked to make appearances representing the Miss Watermelon of Pageland pageant which are not limited to Pageland Watermelon festival events. I agree that I will contact the pageant directors if I wish to seek my own appearances using my title. I understand that as a contestant poor sportsmanship will not be tolerated. I agree if I show poor sportsmanship the pageant directors reserve the right to remove me from competition without a refund and I will be asked to leave.
