2 This mission is organised by the UK Science and Innovation Network (SIN) The Department for Business Innovation and Skills (BIS) and the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) jointly fund a Network of Science and Innovation (SIN) officers around the world. SIN officers identify areas of excellence in their own countries and promote complementary UK expertise as well as alert the UK to international best practice. They support the government to government engagement that opens the door for researchers and innovators to form exciting and productive partnerships and build a network of positive relationships that provides a platform for engagement on a range of important issues for the future. The Science and Innovation Network comprises of 90 staff, based in 28 countries and 47 British Embassies and Consulates around the world. More information on SIN can be found here Expo Milano 2015 will talk about the problems of nutrition and the resources of our planet. The idea is to open up a dialogue between international players to exchange views on these major challenges which are relevant to everyone. Is it possible to guarantee water and food for the entire world population? Is it possible to increase food security? Is it possible to have new solutions that take into account the planet s biodiversity? The aim is not to provide only one-way solutions but to pose questions and offer visitors the tools for finding their own answers. This dialogue between visitors and participants will take place on a daily basis through events, shows, conferences and meetings that explore the themes of Expo 2015 Milano. Objective: our mission aims at providing UK participants with a unique opportunity to meet Italian colleagues at the centre of the preparations for the initiatives and events which will take place at Expo Milano Through a programme of focused meetings and discussions, UK scientists and researchers will have the possibility to create new links and start exploring areas of common interest in which to set up collaboration that will continue during Expo and beyond.

6 PRACTICAL INFORMATION Carlyle Brera Hotel C.so Garibaldi, Milano Tel Fax HOW TO GET THERE The Carlyle Brera Hotel is near to Moscova metro station of the green line MM2, just 50 meters from the hotel entrance. By train From central station take the subway MM2 green line ( direction Famagosta) and get off at Moscova. The hotel is about 20 meters from the metro station, in Corso Garibaldi 84. Alternatively, take a taxi. From Garibaldi Station, take the metro (direction Famagosta), only one stop and get off at Moscova. By plane From Malpensa Airport, take the Malpensa Express train to Cadorna Station. From there, take the metro( green line MM2 direction Gessate or Gobba) and get off at Moscova. The hotel is at about 20 meters distance, in Corso Garibaldi 84. From Linate Airport, take the shuttle bus to central station. From there, see "By train". -- We will finish our programme in Piazza della Scala. The nearest metro station is Piazza Duomo. From there to the airports, see the following information: LINATE AIRPORT Linate airport is 12 km far away from Duomo station. Public taxi (about 25 ) Bus nr. 73 Departure from Piazza San Babila. You can walk from Duomo station or take the red line and do just one stop.
