1 Bell, Damon Community College Leadership Ed.D. Students Cohort Cohort 3 Job Title: Vice President, Student Services for Worksite: San Bernardino Valley College Summary of Experience: Damon received his Master s degree in Student Personnel in Higher Education from the University of Georgia, Athens and his Bachelor s degree from the University of California, San Diego. He is a product of the community college system having received his Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts from Los Angeles Harbor College. He began his career working in university housing at UGA, San Francisco State University, CSU Monterey Bay and CSU San Marcos. Almost nine years ago, he moved to the community college system and worked for Long Beach City College (LBCC) as a Manager of Student Life. After leaving LBCC, he worked at San Diego Mesa College as Interim Dean of Student Affairs and Interim Vice President of Student Services. He currently serves as the Vice President of Student Services at San Bernardino Valley College. He was a member of the Association of Community College Administrators (ACCCA) Mentor Class of He also attended Admin 101 also sponsored by ACCCA. Comeaux Mark Russell Job Title: Vice President of Student Affairs Work Site: Hope International University Summary of Experience: I began my career in 1978 at Crossroads College in Rochester, Minnesota. In 1980 I became the director of Athletics. I attended Winona State University in Winona Minnesota and received a Master s of Science in Educational Administration. In 1986 I as given the Dean of Students position which developed into the Vice President of Student Develop. Curriculum development was part of our expansion as we developed a sports ministry degree. I served as lead professors in that major. Twenty six years and eight months later I was asked to take the Vice President of Student Affairs position at Hope International University in Fullerton, California.

2 Cunningham, April Job Title: Library Instruction Coordinator Work Site Saddleback College (South Orange County Community College District) Summary of Experience: I have been a librarian since 2003, and I am starting my fifth year at Saddleback College. My primary responsibility in the library is coordinating the supplemental instruction that we offer in support of courses across the curriculum and maintaining our credit bearing courses. For two years, I served as the Academic Senate Secretary. Now I am the Information Competency discipline expert for the Basic Skills Initiative, and I am active in efforts to assess SLOs for the General Education Information Competency requirement. I am the 2009 chair person for the Southern California Instruction Librarians, an interest group of the California chapter of the Association of College and Research Libraries. I am also beginning a term as an advisory board member for a national clearinghouse on library instruction called the Library Orientation Exchange Davis, Maria Job Title: Instructor Career Technical Education Apparel Merchandising and Design Work Site: Mt. San Antonio College Summary of Experience: Employed at Mt SAC since Previous experience includes instructing at Los Angeles Trade Technical College.

3 Duffy, Michelle Job Title: Lecturer Work Site: CSUF\Saddleback Community College Summary of Experience: She Received B.A. in Liberal Studies, Human Development Concentration from Long Beach State in 1991; Completed teaching credential at Fresno State and worked as an elementary teacher for 12 years- 5 yrs in Clovis Unified and 7 yrs in Tustin Unified; Earned M.S. in Education with an Emphasis in Reading and Reading Specialist Credential from CSU, Fullerton in 2005 and has taught for the past six years in the Reading Departments at CSU, Fullerton and Saddleback Community College. Job Title: Director, EOPS and CARE English, Herbert Work Site: San Bernardino Valley College Summary of Experience: Herbert is currently the Director of EOP&S/CARE and Coordinator of the Valley-Bound Commitment (First-Year Experience) program at San Bernardino Valley College (SBVC). Herbert joined SBVC after 2 years at California State University San Bernardino as an Academic advisor and p/t faculty. Herbert has also worked as a social worker for Riverside County Child Protective Services and Director of the Boys & Girls Club of San Bernardino. He loves working with young people and inspiring them to purse a college education. Herbert holds a Bachelor s of Arts degree in Sociology from California State University San Bernardino; a Master s of Arts degree in Education from the University of Redlands. A proponent of youth development, community service and education, Herbert currently serves as the Treasurer of the Board of Directors for the Boys & Girls Club of San Bernardino and President of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. San Bernardino Alumni Chapter.

While at FSU I also worked for the Center for Academic Retention and Enhancement (C.A.R.E) as a Counselor during the summer of 2003 and 2005.After receiving my BA in English Literature at FSU, I continued my education at the University of Hawaii at Manoa where I continued my work in Residential Life as a Resident Assistant, and later graduated during the Spring of 2007 semester with a Masters in Higher Ed. Administration. Currently the administrator for associate degree nursing program working with students and faculty. Advocate for students and their success, faculty supervision and evaluation, scheduling clinical facility rotations, hire and evaluate adjunct faculty, chair nursing tenure review committees, write and manage grants to increase nursing graduates, prepare class schedules, and staff assignments. Work experience includes teaching team leader as professor of nursing, advisor to student nursing association, two terms as assistant director of RN program. Julian, Nessa Job Title: Assistant Director Leadership, Experience, and Programs Work Site: Whittier College Brief Summary of Experience: I received my BA in Communication from Cal State San Marcos and my M.Ed in College Student Affairs from Azusa Pacific University. My experience in higher education includes working in multicultural affairs and student activities. I ve worked at Azusa Pacific University, Southern Methodist University and currently serve as the Assistant Director of Leadership, Experience, and Programs at Whittier College.

Job Title: Director, SAGE Scholars Program Lipiz Gonzalez, Elaine Work Site: UC Irvine Center for Educational Partnerships Brief Summary of Experience: As the Director of the SAGE (Student Achievement Guided by Experience) Scholars Program at the University of California, Irvine, I have the privilege to help talented students prepare for graduate school and the workplace through specialized leadership and professional skills training. Over the last 5 years at UCI, I have worked on a variety of programs including serving as a sponsor for the SAGE Theme House through Undergraduate Housing and working with many campus clubs through the Student Initiated Academic Preparation program. 6 Montagne, Lisa Job Title: Professor of English Work Site: Saddleback College and Long Beach City College Brief Summary of Experience: Lisa has a Bachelor of Arts in English, a secondary English teaching credential, and a Master of Arts in English. She has been an English teacher for seventeen years, including eight years of high school and twelve years of community college teaching. She enjoys curriculum development, and has extremely strong classroom management, lecturing, presentation and student/teacher collaboration skills. Lisa has taught a broad spectrum of English courses, but she specializes in advanced academic composition. Advanced composition courses teach students to write for college, and include the following skills: documentation, advanced grammar concepts, writing in the rhetorical modes, argument structures, organization, logic, and critical thinking. In addition to teaching on-campus courses, Lisa has taught online since 2001 usually two out of five sections that she teaches each semester are online courses. Lisa has learned a lot about how to communicate with precision by teaching online, which requires clearly writing out all instructions and lectures. San Antonio College Summary of Experience: After graduating from California State University, Long Beach with a M.S. in Counseling, Student Development Higher Education I knew my passion was working with underprivileged and disenfranchised students at the Community College system. At the time I was employed at Fullerton College in the EOPS program as a Student Services Specialist, and also worked part-time as a counselor and instructor. These experiences were invaluable as worked with at-risk students who were most in need of academic and personal support. In 2005, I was hired at Mt. San Antonio College as a counselor in the general Counseling department. In the past 6 years, I was afforded many opportunities in working with basic skills students, first generation college students and at-risk populations.
