Students will be introduced to Windows file management, Internet and concepts and techniques including professionalism and etiquette, word processing, spreadsheet software, and presentation graphics skills in a hands-on setting. Required Materials: **Textbook bundle ISBN X which includes the textbooks listed below: Go! With Microsoft Windows 7 Comprehensive, Gaskin & Ferret. Pearson/Prentice-Hall. Go! With Microsoft Office 2010 Getting Started, Gaskin, Ferrett, Vargas, & McLellan. Pearson/Prentice-Hall. Access code for MyItLab (comes bundled with the above textbooks). **A minimum 2GB USB drive **Earphones for the computer (optional) Learner Outcomes: Students will be able to analyze the relationship between hardware and software for personal as well as business use; utilize computer operating systems to efficiently manage electronic files and folders in an organized manner; manage an operating system environment including firewalls, fraud protection, backup systems, etc.; create and edit documents using word processing software; create and edit spreadsheets and charting using spreadsheet data; and create and edit effective presentations using presentations software. Homework: Thoroughly reading, studying, and practicing each chapter is highly recommended. There is a great deal of support material for each chapter--take advantage of this material. The Course Schedule identifies specific homework deadlines. Late homework will not be accepted, no exceptions. Many students use their personal computer equipment to complete homework assignments if they have the appropriate hardware & software (be sure to check with your instructor about the hardware and software required). 2 1. A quarter point will be deducted for every spelling, capitalization, or grammatical error up to 20% of the assignment s value. 2. All homework is due at the start of class unless otherwise directed. 3. If you are going to be absent, please phone the instructor at least one hour prior to class time. 4. Each student is responsible for his/her own work. Copying is not permitted and will result in a grade of zero for that assignment, quiz, test, etc. and will be reported to the Dean of Students. 5.
