2 2 GENERAL INFORMATION: The Nasser Civic Center Ice Rink has an exciting skating season ready for you and the whole family. We anticipate being open from November 9th to March 15th for your skating pleasure. We will offer extended public skating hours over holiday periods. Rental skates are available in children s size 6 through adult size 14 Rental skates are available in both hockey and figure skate styles. The Nasser Civic Center has a variety of programs to suit the needs of all skaters. In addition to open public sessions, we offer special family sessions, hockey for all ages, and ice skating lessons. ADMISSION FEES FOR PUBLIC SKATING: Tot (5 & Under)...$1.50 Youth...$3.25 Adult (18 & Older)...$4.00 Senior Citizen (60+)...$3.50 Rental Skates...$2.75 Group Skating Lesson...$8.50 For 1 Lesson/$75.00 For 10 Lesson Pass Private Skating Lesson...$20.00 Per Person Per Lesson Drop-In Hockey...$10.00 Stick Practice...$ Punch Pass Prices (Good For 20 Visits, Any Public Or Family Session) Stick Practice Pass...$50.00 Youth Pass...$50.00 Adult Pass...$65.00 Senior Pass...$50.00 Skate Sharpening Service: Sharpening is available overnight for Mon.-Fri., 2 day for Sat., Sun. & holidays for...$8.00. Skates left over 10 days - $20.00 TYPES OF PUBLIC SKATING: OPEN PUBLIC: Sessions are open to all ages. FAMILY & ADULT SKATING: Children MUST be accompanied by an adult. These sessions tend to be quieter than busy public sessions on weekends and are highly recommended for families with small children. We also recommend weekday daytime sessions for parent-tot skating. STICK PRACTICE SESSION AND DROP-IN HOCKEY: Helmet with face mask, hockey gloves, mouth guards, shin guards, elbow pads and stick are required. Stick practice open to all ages. Adult Drop-In hockey open to ages 15 and older.
3 ICE SKATING LESSONS: We offer ice skating lessons for all ages & ability levels. Each lesson period is one hour, divided into a 15 minute warm-up period, 30 minutes of instruction, and a 15 minute practice period. A fee of $8.50 is charged for each lesson. The fee includes rental skates if needed. Students are placed in classes according to skill level. Progress is charted on skill cards kept at the rink so you can attend lessons for your level as often as you like. Lessons begin November 28th. No lessons are offered during holiday periods (see page 5). Group lessons end March 1st. Private lessons will be available thru March 8th. ICE TOT PROGRAM: This program is designed for children ages 4-7 years old. Our focus is on fun and games to learn to skate. Parents: please note that we encourage children to progress at their own pace. 3 year olds are accepted on Wednesdays 4:30-5:00pm ONLY! WE OFFER TWO LEVELS OF ICE TOTS: BEGINNER BEARS: is for children who have never skated and those needing to work on basic skills. When the child has completed the skills required, he/she receives a stuffed bear and moves on to TIGER TOTS. TIGER TOTS: cover more challenging skills, but still focus on fun and games to learn. A stuffed tiger is awarded for Ice Tot graduation. Ice tot graduates move on to the Medals Program, regardless of age. TOT HOCKEY: see page 6. MEDALS PROGRAM: The Medals program offers lessons of varying difficulty, designed to meet all skill & interest levels. Medals are awarded at the completion of each level. The medals program is open to Ice Tot graduates and anyone 8 years old and older. LEVELS ARE AS FOLLOWS: BRONZE MEDAL LEVEL: This level is for beginning and novice skaters and covers balance and form, gliding, sculling, forward stroking and snowplow stops. SILVER MEDAL LEVEL: Features intermediate skills, including forward crossovers, basic backwards skating and turning, edge use, hockey stops. GOLD MEDAL LEVEL: Covers advanced skating skills. Students have a choice to focus on advanced hockey or figure skating skills. There are 2 levels, progressing in difficulty. PRIVATE LESSONS: These can be accommodated during any Monday - Thursday non-holiday public session, but we require 24 hours notice to arrange an instructor for you. Call for your lesson! $20 per/person per/lesson includes admission, rental skates and 30 minutes of instruction. NOVEMBER 28TH - MARCH 1ST. NO LESSONS: DECEMBER 26TH - JANUARY 2ND OR FEBRUARY 20TH MONDAYS: (both sessions - 4 & older) 3:30-4:30 & 4:30-5:30pm TUESDAYS: (4 & older) 3:45-4:45pm WEDNESDAYS: (4 & older) 3:30-4:30 pm and (3 year olds only) 4:30-5:00pm 3

Glow-in-the-dark items will be available for purchase or bring your own. Regular admission. 8:00-10:00pm MARCH 15TH: LAST DAY SKATING SPECIAL: Skate 10:00am - 5:00pm $1 admission, $1 rental skates. Skating Bring An Ornament From Home (Please No Glass) and Help Decorate Our Christmas Tree. 4:30pm...Christmas On Ice Show 6:00pm - 8:00pm...Skate With Santa, Mrs. Claus, Rudolph, Frosty And The Elves Families With Children Under 10 Years Old Can Skate With Santa, Mrs. Claus, Rudolph, Frosty And The Elves. Santa Will Hear Last Minute Christmas Wishes And Mrs. Claus Will Hand Out Candy Canes! Elves Will Help Children Make A Holiday Decoration To Hang On Our Tree Or Take Home! 6 6 YOUTH HOCKEY PROGRAMS: Our Youth Hockey Program focuses on skating, skill development and FUN! We use trained coaches and skating instructors to work with the children. The purpose of the program is to introduce youngsters to the thrilling sport of ice hockey! We teach skating, game fundamentals, and hockey skills such as stick handling, passing, and shooting. Our programs cover boys and girls ages 4-14 years old. All groups are no-check. REGISTRATION INFORMATION: Registration is first come, first serve until the program fills, so pre-registration is advised. Late entries can be accommodated only if space is available. If you need assistance choosing a level or have program questions, please call us! AGE GROUP DIVISIONS: TOT HOCKEY I: AGES Wednesdays 5:00-5:45pm This is a learn-to-skate program, with a hockey theme. No sticks will be used until February. Focus is on basic skills and fun. Required equipment includes helmet with face mask, hockey shin guards & elbow pads. Kids must be 4 by December 2nd. Fee is $110 per child (includes jersey); Begins November 30th. TOT HOCKEY II: AGES Tuesdays 5:00-5:45pm This program is for graduates of Tot Hockey I or our Bears skating program. Kids will start using hockey sticks after the first two weeks. Focus is on basic skills and fun. Required equipment includes helmet with face mask, hockey shin guards, gloves & elbow pads. Kids must be 5 by December 1st. Fee is $110 per child (includes jersey); Begins November 29th. SHARKS DIVISION: AGES Mondays 5:30-6:30pm This program combines basic hockey instruction with fun. Children must be tot hockey or Tigers graduates or able to skate on their own to enter this program. Occasional half-ice scrimmages. Required equipment includes helmet with face mask, elbow pads, hockey shin guards and hockey gloves. Fee is $135 per child (includes jersey); Begins November 28th. RANGERS DIVISION: AGES Saturdays 8:00-10:00am Focus is on skating and hockey skill development. Kids are divided into 2 teams and play fun scrimmage games. Required equipment includes helmet with face mask, mouth guard, elbow pads, hockey shin guards, neck guard & pants, stick and hockey gloves. Fee is $160 per child (includes a jersey). Begins November 12th. SABRES DIVISION: AGES Thursdays 5:30-6:30pm...and Saturdays 10:30-12:30am This program focuses on learning teamwork and offers skill building and recreational games. Full hockey equipment is required. Fee is $210 (includes jersey for new players); Begins November 12th.
7 PRIVATE GROUP OR PARTY RINK RENTAL: 7 The rink is available to rent for private use for hockey, broomball, skating parties for birthdays, school & church group skating, etc. Different slots are available for rent each week and must be booked and paid at least one week in advance. Skates are included in all rink rentals. Times and rates are as follows: Sundays 9:30-11:00pm...$125 Sundays 11:30am - 12:30pm...$100 Saturdays 6:30-8:30pm...$225 Fridays 10:30 - Midnight...$125 Friday, November 11th, 3:30-5:00pm...$125 Friday, November 18th, 3:30-5:00pm...$125 Monday, February 20th, 4:30-6:30pm...$200 Monday, March 13th, 3:30-6:30pm...$75/hr Monday, March 14th, 3:30-8:30pm...$75/hr FIGURE SKATING CLUB: Figure skaters who can skate forwards and backwards with steady stroking or have passed the Silver Medal level are invited to join. Figure skaters will have the opportunity to practice skills that they are working on in our Learn to skate program. A significant amount of time will be spent preparing for the Christmas and season finale skating shows. Both shows are optional, but skaters are encouraged to participate. Information & Registration Open House: (We will be skating) November13th...6:30-8:30pm Sundays: start 11/20...Club Level 1 6:30-7:30pm $125...Club Level II 7:45-8:45pm $125 Mondays: start 11/14 (no instruction, practice only - must be a Sunday Club member) 6:45-7:45pm $75 JUNIOR RINK GUARD EXPERIENCE: Area youth ages years old have an opportunity to be a part of the Nasser Civic Center Ice Rink winter program. Youth will participate in staff training and in the daily operations of the skating facility. This is on a volunteer basis and gives youth the opportunity to develop leadership qualities, be a part of a team and improve their ice skating skills. Participant who successfully complete the training, will have an exciting opportunity to be part of our Junior Rink Gaurd Experience. Pre-registration is required. All candidates must complete all of the following trainings: November 5th 10:00am- 2:00pm...November 9th 4:00-5:30pm Fee:...$10 GROUP DISCOUNTS & SPECIALS: THURSDAY IS YOUTH GROUP DAY...10:00am - 3:00pm or 3:30-5:00pm Thursdays during non-holiday periods we offer a special for youth groups of any size! this is for scout, school, and church youth groups and offers free admission & skate rentals for adult supervisors. Admission is $2.00 and skate rental is $1.00 for all youth group members. Groups must book at least 1 week in advance to qualify for the discount. * SEE SPECIAL EVENTS FOR MORE SPECIAL PRICES!*
