1 JEPTA Meeting Minutes Pleasant Avenue Library February 3, :00pm Present: Beth Connelie, Trisha Bobowski, Stacy Laird, Tom Casale, Kristina Sepanara, Kristin Meashaw, Bobbi Jo Haverly, Jamie Tallon, Abbey North, Nicole Lent, Jackie Papa, Noelle Smrtic, Nancy Ackerbauer, Michelle Gabree Huba, Olivia Barnett, Nancy Lisicki President (Jamie Tallon for Meghan Heroth): The meeting was called to order at 4:05pm, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Treasurer's Report (Kristina Sepanara): A motion was made to approve the treasurer's report by Abbey North, seconded by Trisha Bobowski. All in favor. Motion carried. Noelle Smrtic will price out JEPTA banners and present ideas Secretary s Report: (Beth Connelie): A motion was made to approve January s meeting minutes by Abbey North, seconded by Trisha Bobowski. All in favor. Motion carried. Correspondence, Membership and Fundraising Chair (Bobbi Jo Haverly for April Buboltz): C&H Fundraiser will be going home in the next couple of days. Appreciation Chair Report (Bobbi Jo Haverly): The baskets are at the Johnstown Public Library. The 3 basket themes are Art, Music, Physical Education. Warren Street s Principal s Report (Nicole Lent): Character Education Strive for Five Students have started earning incentives. January s Student of the Month trait was Self Control. AR Assembly monthly December s class winners had a movie party. January s class winners will have a sledding and hot cocoa party. Winners will be announced this week. Monthly Madness! Monthly incentives for classrooms with the most points, individual incentives for top students in classes and grade levels Bike giveaway at end of the year to top boy and top girl Enrichment Clubs are going on. Some will start up again in Spring. 6th grade ski trip is coming up at the end of February. Any students who have difficulty paying the $12 for lessons will be covered by Enrichment funds.

2 Odyssey of the Mind Teams are working hard and getting ready for their competition on March 12th. There is a Spontaneous Practice Night on Thursday, 2/4 Climate Committee We are looking into programs to address bullying and positive behaviors more consistently to begin to institute next year Spelling Bee Our 4 6 Spelling Bee is Tuesday February 9th at 9:30 in Johnstown HS Auditorium. Winners will advance to the Regional Spelling Bee on March 7th at 6:30 at Gloversville Middle School. Safety: We will be having a Lockdown drill sometime during the week of 2/8. This drill will be unannounced. Spring Concert Format Due to the incredible growth of our music program, some changes are going to be tried for our Spring Concert. We are going to try and have 2 "concerts" in the Spring one 4th grade and one 5th and 6th. They will be held the same date but with staggered times as follows: 4th grade 6:00 start time (students arrive at 5:30). 4th grade band and choir students will sit on the sides of the aud. 5th and 6th grade 7:30 start time (students arrive at 7:00). band students will sit in side of audience and 5th and 6th grade choir students split in two holding rooms with supervision. Possible concessions between shows however this should probably not be right in the main "lobby" area to avoid congestion between guests leaving and coming. We will be looking for volunteers to help supervise groups of students during performances Warren Street Important Dates & Events: February 9th Spelling Bee 9:30am at JHS March 3rd Day of Music Activities Glebe Principal s Report (Abbey North): Character Education: Our February Morning program will be at 10:00 a.m. February 9th. Students of the Month will be announced. The committee will meet again on April 11th and May 9th. PARP kick off assembly March 4th. PARP runs March 7th 23rd. Racing theme with game board. RAAD will be celebrated with Seuss stations, assembly, guest readers, and dress Seuss on March 4th. If you are interested in volunteering contact Mrs. Ammann or Mrs. North. Enrichment:

3 SDM: We just finished January enrichment clubs offered to over 90 students. Thank you to our volunteers! February 11th and 12th Tang Museum visit (Traveling from Saratoga, NY) WEDO Lego Robotics Club Pilot Program this spring grade 3 only. SDM will meet next on March 7th at 3:30. SDM presents, Authors Night on March 21st from 5:30 7 p.m. Other: Box Tops February is a competition month teachers will hold all box tops sheets until collection on March 1st. Read to Succeed forms are due 2/23! Valentine s Day and 100th Day celebrations on 2/12 Field trips: the district has allotted a stipend to assist with transportation. March 7 23 PARP March 7th SDM, 3:30pm March 8th 9:30 Morning Program March 8th AR Night 6 7 p.m. May 2nd 6th Glebe Spring Book Fair Pleasant Avenue Principal s Report (Michelle Gabree Huba): Character Education: Our program is going well. Students are excited when their class earns an award for a special area. They really like bringing the trophy back to their classroom. We awarded our first class AR recognition at morning program on Monday. The kindergarten and first grade class with the most AR points won a stuffed minion to take to their classroom for the next two weeks. We will see which class points increase the most approximately every 2 weeks and award the minion. These are called Minion Mondays and students are encouraged to wear minion gear or yellow and purple on these days. The dates were sent home in a notice before break. Enrichment: STEM Night was a big success. We also enjoyed the Bridge Arts concert and workshops. The presenters worked well with the students. SDM: aka Building Planning Team (BPT) will tentatively meet Thursday, Feb. 25th at 8:15. Parents interested in attending the meeting can

4 Special Person Dance and Pre K Night are upcoming topics for discussion. Important Dates and Events: February 8th Minion Monday February 26th Someone Special Dance February 29th Minion Monday March 2nd RAAD Notes and Reminders: Please do not drop of students without seeing an adult present to supervise them. The doors are unlocked at 8:00. It is too cold out for students to be left outside prior to this time. School Closings and Delays will be upon us before we know it. They will be announce on channels 6, 8, 10, and 13. One hour delay, school begins at 10:00 (breakfast at 9:30). Two hour delay, school begins at 11:00 (no breakfast). Discussion Topics: Founder s Day Winner s Circle, March 14th. Begins at 5:30pm. Dinner is 6pm. Cost is $24 per person. Signups are in each main office. Nomination forms are going home tomorrow. Committee if you are interested in sitting on the committee, contact Meghan Heroth or your building principal. Baskets Money will be spent from Community Events budget for 3 baskets, which will be the similar themes as the library baskets. Color Run If you are interested in serving on a Color Run Committee, please contact April. Fundraising Ideas Please brainstorm for fundraising ideas for next year. High Rollers High Rollers is not happening for us this Spring. We will revisit next year. Yearbooks We will revisit next month. Volunteer Opportunities: Glebe: Read Across America Day on March 4th. The community has been wonderful in supporting the school s plans and endeavours, the union feels it will be a great way to give back!
