County Counselor Meeting September 2 nd - School Begins for students 5 th PBIS Pep Rally (Focus on new incentives & positive praise) 2 nd 5 th Coordinate/Organize students arrival/dismissal (first impressions!, peer mentors & counselor assist anxious students and parents acclimate to a new school year) 2 nd 5 th Peer mentors continue assisting all students with arrival & acclimation 8 th - Bi-monthly Guidance lessons begin o K Counseling Introduction. Differences in Home & School o 1st - 5th grade Introduction & Needs Assessment o K-1 st Active Listening o 2 nd - 5th grade Expect Respect Upstander vs Bystander 18 th - School-wide bullying awareness & staff development (Counselor provides yearly staff presentation and student instruction during first guidance lessons) 8 th - Mentors begin job assignments (5 th grade peer mentors work with younger students in classrooms to assist with academics and emotional connection.) Consult with all classroom teachers on any prior year s at risk students in their respective classrooms (encourage teachers to reach out early and create positive relationships with at risk students) Additional data disaggregation on needs assessment, discipline data, attendance data, SOL data, crisis management (review goals, action plans, are there any adjustments needed?) SIP review & confirm school counseling goals align with SIP (again, adjustments needed?) Walk-A-Thon (PTA event, counselor volunteers & participates.
