Production Design: a. Sound Design b. Lighting Design c. Costume Design d. Set Design 2. Theatre Management: a. Stage Management b. Front of House Management This is the beginning course for students wishing to be a part of the theatre design and management pathway. Students learn about the skills needed in the production of a theatre piece. Learn to program lighting on an ION lighting board 2. Learn to program sound on a SOUNDCRAFT V-IV sound board. 3. Learn and assist in building sets 4. Learn and assist in measuring actors accurately, selecting wardrobe, and building costumes 5. Learn to create a stage manager s script and call a show 6. Learn how to maintain a ticketing website 7. Learn how to publicize a production and targeting the correct audience 8. Learn how to stock and manage concessions for productions Students get hands-on training with Programming Lighting Boards, programming Sound Boards, Building Sets, Building Costumes. Additionally, They demonstrate learned skills in stage managing and calling a show. Students also deal with ticketing, publicity and managing concessions for and during productions. Students learn to design and program the lights for a production 2. Students learn to design and program the sound for a production utilizing wireless body packs, overheard choral microphones and a live orchestra in the pit 3. Students learn to design and build and find existing costumes for a production 4. Students learn to design and build a set for a production 5. Students manage ticketing, publicity (with all needed artwork), and concessions for a production Students choose one of the areas of study and focus on designing and building for a production. This course emphasizes the function of stage managers in professional theater productions. Attention is given to the understanding of the career of a stage manager s responsibilities, duties, obligations, and production coordination. 7

The student receives instruction in advanced methods, physical techniques, and crew responsibilities of the theatre technician in all the specialty areas. The process will include emphasis on practical solutions and leadership in crew and equipment management. Use of stateof-the-art stage equipment and show operation forms to execute a production in multiple entertainment medias is covered. Production work will consist of collaborative synthesis of multiple departments in the creation of a theatrical performance and the techniques necessary in the management of resources towards an entertainment event. 8

Students will work in a hands on shop environment developing skills to understand and practice the basic methods, techniques, and work habits of the scenic artist.
