1 REGIONAL TRIAL DAY 2 INFORMATION TO: 1. The Principal 2. The Sportsmaster FROM: Regional School Sport Officer - Sunshine Coast Region TOPIC: Regional Sport Trial Day 2 Tuesday 18 March (Alt. Tuesday 25 March, 2014). 1. Please be mindful of the following guidelines: a) Schools should not send more students than make up the number in the Regional Team. b) Schools should attempt to ensure that only students with a realistic chance of making the Regional Team attend the Trials. (eg It is unlikely that 13 year old students would be selected in an open age team. However, there may be exceptions). c) If possible, it would be extremely helpful if teachers other than the Regional Convenor, Coach and Manager could also be released to assist at the trials. d) In some cases, to avoid problems associated with large numbers of students attending Trials, District Teams will be selected prior to the Regional Trials. Where this occurs, only students selected in the District Team should attend. It is strongly recommended that Districts send a Teacher with each Team. e) Any questions regarding the Trials should be directed either to the Regional Sports Officer or the Regional Convenor. f) If for any reason the Trials have to be deferred to the alternate date, schools will be notified by by no later than 7.00am on the day of the trial. Information will also be posted on the school sport website: g) The Regional Convenor must receive written approval from the school for each student before the student can participate in the Regional Trial. This approval may be posted / faxed to the Convenor prior to the Trial or handed to the Convenor at the Trial. This policy also applies to District Convenors for District Trials. A PCF for each student must have been completed. The individual or the group permission forms may be used. Students who attend Trials without written permission may be asked to return to their school as no supervision is available for students who are not involved in the Trials. NB NB NB The only possible exemption to this may be in the case of 13 year old Primary School students who are attending Secondary School Trials for the first time. Students selected in District Teams to attend the Regional Trial do not need to provide written permission to the Regional Convenor as long as the District Team is accompanied / supervised by a teacher from that District. If there is no Teacher Official with the team, then written permission is required. Regional Teams, NOT SQUADS, will be selected at the Regional Trials. Shadow players may be announced and invited to attend training sessions but it must be explained that attendance at training sessions is strictly voluntary.
