Education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world. - Nelson Mandela A s a step to change the world, we are educating the students with more excellence by our most ef cient faculties. The second part of the academic year was abuzz with numerous activities such as Faculty development programme, Personality development programme, Blood donation camp, AIDS awareness programme, Alumni meet, Science Expo and the list goes on! Our students won laurels for our institution by grapping several medals and trophies both in academic and co-curricular activities; especially by sports personalities whose energetic performance led our college to win 'Overall Championship' for the second time in IPAA Divisional level Tournament (Tirunelveli, Tuticorin, Kanyakumari and Virudhunagar) which was organized by Arulmigu Kalasalingam Polytechnic College, Srivilliputhur. Particularly our college individually had won championship both in sports and games in the same tournament. If you want to be an achiever you have to be better or you have to be different. Here I like to remind you a quote of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam that makes you perfect. All birds nd a shelter during a rain. But eagles avoid rain by ying above the clouds. Problems are common, but attitude make the difference. I wish you all the best Destiny is in your hands! 3 FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME T he quality of education depends on the quali cation and competencies of faculties. ICTACT accompanied with DOTE organized three days (4/12/2014 6/12/2014) faculty development programme for the computer staff from various colleges at our college auditorium that focused on Information Storage Management. Mr. Saravanaraj Sridharan, (Sr. Technical Educationalist from CMC Corporation) bestowed interesting information on Information Storage Management. Our College conducted faculty development programme in our college campus for SCAD and FX Polytechnic staff members on 06/012/14 and 15/12/14. Mr. Anjesh (Director of Faculty Training, Bangaluru) presented a programme on Communication Skills and Mr. Jesaiah Selvam (CCO, SCAD Group) presented a programme on Quality Education and Quality Teaching. PARENTS METTING Process of Education actualizes the convergence of students effort, guidance of teachers and the support of parents. Hence parents-teachers meeting was conducted on Our students brought their parents to meet the Principal and the teachers and they had an active interaction among the parents and the teachers. PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME For the sake of students' development, the department of CE, ECE, Civil, EEE and Mechanical were conducted many personality development programme on the basis of Students' Leadership Quality on various occasion. Mr. K. Sriram, (HOD of MBA Dept. SCAD CET) impressed the audience with his encouraging thoughts and ideas. HRE Consultant Trainer Mr. L. Bernat skillfully invoked the students to achieve and develop their leadership and personality traits. Mr. V. Paul Sudhakar (Asst. Prof. of MBA Dept. SCAD CET) strengthened the quality of leadership among the students. 3

4 PLACEMENT O ur college has a Placement Cell that works tirelessly to produce an enviable track record in every year. To face the race of an interview, the Placement Cell organized a Mock Interview on 13/12/2014. The programme guided the students with different ideas and techniques of an interview. We are very keen in getting placement for our students. Placement's coordinators arranged many Campus Interviews on campus and off campus. Our students have been placed to the following companies. HYUDAI, CHENNAI GUEST LECTURE PROGRAMME G uest lectures are an integral part of the pedagogy of SCAD Institutions. The Department of Civil, Mech, EEE, ECE and Computer Engineering were organized Guest Lecture programme for the students to enrich their subject knowledge. Mr. Senthil Deepu (Prof. of SCAD EC) delivered his valuable thoughts on Structural Design. Mr. Anish Michel Vishnu shared his experience on Motivating Skills. Mr. Ibrahim Badhusha (Commissioning Engineer, Chennai) lectured on Power Plant 4

5 Commission. Mr. Ravi, Director of Apex Technology cheered the students on Hardware and Network. Mr. Karthi Ganesh (Asst. Prof. of CSE Dept., SCAD SCET) boosted the students on Concept of Operating System. Mr. Arunachala Raja (Project Manager, Tech Mahindra, Chennai) lectured on Personal Grooming in IT Industry Expectation. Mr. Siva (E-dot Technology, Tirunelveli) presented his latest ideas on Industrial Electronics. On the other hand, Mr. U. Lakshmi Narayanan (Programmer, HP Olympiya Tech Park, Chennai) addressed the students on SAP Basis. CELEBRATIONS T th he 18 Annual Day was celebrated with grandeur in our SCAD Campus on 07/03/2015. The Morning session was entertained by Madurai Maruthu and Gopi team. Our students also exposed their talents in various cultural programmes. The chief guest Mrs.P.Mariammal (GM, District Industries Centre, Tirunelveli) addressed the gathering. The special guest Dr. P. Golda G r e n a R a j a t h i ( P r i n c i p a l, D I E T, Munanjipatti) listed her speech to develop the character of the students. Mr.Thambi Durai (GM, [Admin], SCAD Group), Mr. A. Ignatius Xavier (GM, [Finance], SCAD Group) and Dr. Jesaiah Selvam (CCO, SCAD Group) were presented in the function. The SCAD campus witnessed a gala Christmas Celebration at our college auditorium. The staff members along with our Principal celebrated the function on 23/12/2014. The chief guest Mr. Joshuva Soloman (Rtd. HM of CMS Hr. Sec. School, Karisal) cheered the occasion with the words of Jesus Christ. Pongal Celebration was observed on 14/01/2015, our college teemed with beautiful decoration and rangoli. Plenty of competition and prizes rocked the students to observe the day. Women's day Celebration was observed on with splendor. LITERARY, FINE ARTS & SCIENCE FORUM SCIENCE EXPO T he rst year association conducted a Science Exhibition on 12/01/2015. All the department students actively participated in the exhibition 5

6 with their creative and innovative presentation. The topers of the exhibition awarded with medals and prizes. The rst year association celebrated its Valedictory function on 26/02/2015 at our college auditorium. The chief guest Dr. Ramar (HM, Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Padmaneri) gave his valuable speech on acquiring knowledge from various sources. ALUMNI FUNCTION Our college arranged an alumni function on 16/01/2015. The chief guest Mr. Ignatius Xavier (GM, [Finance] SCAD Group) addressed among the gathered alumni. The college felt a sense of pride in witnessing its alumni took a successful ight in various professions. PAPER PRESENTATION Ponmani Thiravium and Arul Selvam (CE) were presented their papers at FX Engineering College, Tirunelveli on 06/01/2015 and bagged the rst prize. S. Suresh Kumar & B. Seyad Ibrahim (Mech), Palani Shankar & Antony Jeyasingh (ECE) and P. Sivakumar & Rajagopal Chandrasekar (EEE) were presented their papers at Chandy Polytechnic College and each pair won the second prize. Deepak Subramanian &Amala Dinesh (ECE) and Naveen Kumar & Vivek (Civil) were presented their papers at FX Polytechnic College and got the second prize. S. Shirish Roshan and Ilkiah Daniel (Mech) were presented their paper at MSPVL Polytechnic College and won the second prize. AWARD CEREMONY Our college never forgot to honour the best performers. 20 staff members of our college secured 100% result in the Board Examination (October 2014). 39 staff members reached above 90% result in the same Examination. The students also shined in securing marks. 17 students secured centum in individual subjects from various departments. The respective staff and students honoured by our honourable Managing director Mr. C. Arun Babu (SCAD Group) with medals and momentum in the award ceremony on 07/01/

7 ACHIEVEMENTS IN SPORTS AND GAMES We take a step higher to achieve in sports and bring out sports personalities. Our college organized an IPAA Foot Ball Tournament in which 17 polytechnic colleges were participated. Our college won the runner-up with medals and shield. IPAA Divisional level Tournament was organized by Arulmigu Kalasalingam Polytechnic College, Sriviliputhur. Our college students participated and won the title of Overall Championship of The students carried 2 Gold Medals, 6 Silver Medals and 11 Bronze Medals. Consecutively our college got the Overall Championship in Sports & Games. In the history of polytechnic athletics, our student P. Jenkins got 2 gold medals in shot-put and discus throw in state level athletic and made a new record. 7

8 NSS ACTIVITES BLOOD DONATION CAMP S CAD Institution always aims To make out better citizens from good engineers. The NSS conducted a Blood Donation Camp in the campus in association with Dr. Poomani Samuel (Government Medical Blood Bank) on 04/12/2014. Nearly 222 units of blood were donated by 217 students and staffs. Our college NSS arranged a Human Rights Awareness programme in the department of EEE on 18/12/2014. The special guest Mr. Pitchai Mohideen (Lecturer, SCAD Teacher Training) listed out the important role of the people in the society and how to utilize their rights in their day-to-day life. AIDS/HIV Awareness programme was organized on 09/03/2015. Mr. Mariya Selvam, ICTC counselor, spoke on the preventive measures of the disease. Chief Editor : Er. J.
