Set amongst 28 hectares of lush eucalyptus and rainforest, visitors can see many of Australia s iconic species on display in their natural habitat. There are many interactive wildlife opportunities to cuddle a koala, feed a kangaroo or hold a baby crocodile or snake. Each afternoon at 3:30pm, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary & Jellurgal Aboriginal Cultural Centre join forces to present the Yugambeh Aboriginal Dancers. Celebrating the rich Aboriginal culture that is embedded in this Gold Coast region, visitors can experience a taste of the Yugambeh language, dance and stories. The traditional dancers share their connection to the land, in all its forms, past, present and future.

Combined with your chance to see over 1,000 native Australian animals, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary offers a truly Australian experience. On arrival at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, start the tour with an iconic Australian experience a cuddle with a friendly koala (souvenir photo included). Commencing at 3.30 pm, the Yugambeh Aboriginal Dance Show introduces the Yugambeh language, dance and stories and celebrates the rich local Aboriginal culture of the Gold Coast region. After the dance show, visitors have an opportunity to feed beautiful kangaroos in a 5 acre paddock. See both the local Eastern Grey and also the Red Kangaroo which is the largest mammal native to Australia. Feed the wild lorikeets which have been an institution at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary for the past 69 years before heading to the Sanctuary Café Deck for your traditional International Buffet. The tour finishes with an Aboriginal Ochre Ceremony and a farewell dance performance. Aboriginal communities have been painting their bodies for thousands of years. Painting is not just about visual artistic creativity; it relates to Aboriginal laws and religion and is a means of communication. In dance, designs are used to tell a story. Immerse yourself in Dreamtime stories, Aboriginal dance and didgeridoo performances, a guided walk and an opportunity to get close to over 1000 native Australian wildlife. The journey begins at Jellurgal with an introduction to the Yugambeh region followed by a visual presentation that shares some of the Aboriginal history of the Gold Coast. You will then take an Aboriginal guided tour of the Burleigh Heads National Park where countless culturally significant sites including an ancient midden have played an important role in the lives of Aboriginal people, both socially and environmentally. Next you will visit Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, home to one of the largest collections of Australian wildlife in the world offering many opportunities to interact with wildlife including cuddling a koala, feeding a kangaroo, and holding a baby crocodile or snake.
