5 since 1976 specialized in the construction of turnkey cement plants THE ORIGINS In 1976 Engineer Vincenzo Speziali, already active in Calabria since 1962 with a tile furnace, founded the CALME MERIDIONALE S.p.A (as an acronym CALME), constructing for the production of lime and by-products in the territory of Marcellinara (CZ), taking advantage of the limestone hills near the plant. CALME begins the activity in 1978 with the lime production and derivates (lime in sods, extra-ventilated lime hydrates, slaked lime and ready to use plaster) s In 1981 continuous search by the CALME laboratories, in collaboration with the Institute of Technology of Materials in the faculty of Engineering at the University of Calabria, brings about the development of a de-sulphurized mixture, that can be used in iron working, as well as in the production of dolomite lime (with a high magnesium content) used successfully in steel production by the most important national and international industries. In 1989 CALME, in response to market requirements, opens the first mill for the production of cement, near the Marcellinara plant s In 1992 CEMENTERIA PISANA S.r.l., already the property of the Speziali family, was incorporated into the group, extending the territorial influence to northern Italy from the plant at Orciano Pisano (Tuscany). In 1993 doubled the production of calcium oxide with the installation of a second lime kiln, an innovative system with heat recovery and lime produced with guaranteed 2.5% max CO2. 5

6 In 1997 the society decides to invest in a new plant for the production of cement and calcium carbonate, situated at Taranto, and which began to function as a centre for sacking during 1998 and, in the year 2000, after an important investment program, became a cement grinding production centre. FROM 2001 TO 2003 In 2001 an intense investment program began at the Marcellinara plant, consisting of the substitution of a lime furnace and the construction of a clinker kiln, to upgrade the grinding capacity, together with the acquisition of a quarry of inert material. In the 2002 started the expansion of the production and logistics at the Taranto plant, upgrading its grinding capacity by doubling the productive capacity and through the acquisition of limestone quarries, completing the work in th second semester FROM 2004 TO 2005 In 2004 the construction of the plant of Novi Ligure began, in province of Alessandria (AL), with the capacity to grind 700,000 nominal tons/year; its construction was completed in the course of In 2005 the General Contractor of the Speziali Group, was incorporated by a fusion; the company is specialized in the construction of turnkey cement plant. Through GEN.CO Italy S.r.l., between 2003 and 2006, CALME. has constructed three modern cement grinding plant: at Novi Ligure (AL), Montalto di Castro (VT) and Sorbolo (PR) with a total grinding capacity of over 1,5 mln tons/year of cement. On the 13th June 2005 the Marcellinara plant started production of a complete line for the production of tons/year of clinker, complete with a rotary furnace, an entirely automated pre-calcination tower, controlled from a single control room. FROM 2006 TO present day In the 2006 CALME started the expansion of production at the Orciano Pisano plant, upgrading its grinding capacity by means of a third line of grinding which commenced functioning in March 2007, doubling the production levels. In the 2007 CALME, in order to guarantee a service aimed at great infrastructural works, conceived CALME BETON S.r.l. which is specialized in the management of concrete production systems, directly at the most important construction sites. In the 2009 CALME, through its controlled SICICAL S.p.A, constructed a Turnkey plant in Sicily, in the municipality of Melilli (SR), with the capacity to produce over 700,000 tons/ cement year, and which today has one of the most technologically advanced grinding systems in Europe. In the same year founded the Business Unit CALME Green Power has been focused in the realization of turnkey systems of energy production powered from renewable sources (with a specific focus in the photovoltaic one). TODAY CALME Group after having developed its presence in the italian territory with its four plants of Marcellinara (CZ), Taranto, Orciano Pisano (PI) and Melilli (SR) - Sicical S.p.A. - is in a position to guarantee timely delivery throughout the italian territory, holding a 3.5% share of the italian cement market, (data: AITEC and CALME) and is the largest producer of lime in Southern Italy. Currently the production capacity of the CALME GROUP plants of is approximately: tons/year of cement, 300,000 tons/year of lime and 200,000 tons/year of calcium carbonate and in 2009 shipped over nd in cubic metres of concrete. 6

8 70 milion euro turnover (2012) CALME S.p.A. is the main company of the group, with assets in the production of cement, lime and calcium carbonate. CALME, with the CALME CEMENT brand, is present in Italy with three production units: the complete cycle cement factory and lime works at Marcellinara (CZ), in Calabria, cement and calcium carbonate grinding centre at Taranto, in Puglia, and the cement grinding centre at Orciano Pisano (PI), in Tuscany. SICICAL S.p.A. is born from the joint-venture between Calme Group and La Ferla Group, active in lime production in Sicily for more than a century. SICICAL has opened a technologically advanced plant at Melilli in the province of Siracuse, for the production of cement. In the course of 2010 Sicical has conquered a 10% market share for cement in Sicily (data: AITEC and CALME). CALME BETON S.r.l., was born from the thirty years of experience in the field of the cement of CAL- ME, in order to develop the production of premanifactured concrete. CALME BETON is specialized in the installation, service management full of concrete mixing systems and the consequent supply of concrete directly to the sites of the main construction enterprises. 8

9 CALME CONTRACTOR is a leader in Italy in the supply of turnkey systems for the cement production. CALME CONTRACTOR, between 2002 and 2009, has constructed one cement plant and four modern grinding plants for important cement groupes at Novi Ligure (Italcementi), Montalto di Castro (Cemex) and Sorbolo (Buzzi Unicem) with a total grinding capacity of over 3 Mln tons/year of cement. With the GREEN POWER division CALME decided to enter in the field of the General Contractor active in the construction of turnkey systems of energy production powered by renewable sources (with specific focus in the photovoltaic power). 9
