3 Completion of Entry Forms All entries close 3 March 2016 The Royal Easter Show Equestrian events are proudly supporting CatWalk and with every entry received a portion will be donated to the CatWalk Trust. Formats & Standards will be consistent with the Royal Easter Show Rules and Regulations EQUESTRIAN IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR COMPETITORS: ENTRIES CLOSE 3 March 2016 VENUE: Clevedon Park, Monument Road, Clevedon. Online entries at NOTE: The Society reserves the right to merge classes if there are insufficient entries, and to amend or alter the programme as it sees fit. Completed Entry Forms must be received at The Royal Easter Show office on the date above, not posted on the date above. Late entries refer to Completion of Entry Forms. See entry form at the back of this Schedule. Auckland A&P Association Equestrian Committee Shirley Watts Equestrian Chair Claude Avent Chief Steward Christine Barton Heather Edgecumbe Rae Flipp Jinny McNab Anne Watts Membership Subscriptions Annual Individual Membership of the Auckland A&P Association is $50 discounted to $30.00 if paid by 30 September 2015 or upon receipt of your competition entry for the 2016 Royal Easter Show. The membership year runs from 1 April 31 March. See application form in the back of this Schedule. Timetable Exhibitors must know their class numbers and times by checking the timetable included in the Catalogue in case of class time changes. They must be ready to enter the ring before their start time. A timetable will also be displayed at the Equestrian office. Classes missed are the exhibitor s responsibility. Late exhibitors will be excluded from the class. If the exhibitor is entered in multiple sections, the exhibitor must decide which class/section to compete in. No class or championship judging will be held up for delayed Exhibitors. Protective Headgear A hard hat is generally described as a hunting cap, a bowler, protective headwear, or a safety helmet. Wearing a hard hat is compulsory for anyone competing on, working in or schooling or riding for any reason a horse at an A&P Show or in any area considered to be for whatever reason a part of the Showground. It is strongly recommended that all riders particularly those jumping horses wear protective headgear conforming to the current NZ Safety Standard or an equivalent standard and that the headgear must be secured by a retention harness. All Pony Riders under 17 years must wear protective headgear which includes a retaining harness secured to the shell at three points. Such headgear must be worn with the chinstrap properly adjusted and fastened when in the rings, the warm up area, collecting rings or anywhere else within equestrian event areas. Confirmation of Entries E1 Confirmation of Entries - A receipt showing all details of your entries, subscription etc will be returned to you following data processing. Your entry form will NOT be returned to you. Responsibility - It will be your responsibility, the Exhibitor, to check the details on the confirmation of entries carefully and ensure that all details are correct. Any alterations to Classes must be made to the Secretary by 9 March 2016 in writing (by post, fax or ). NO EXCEPTIONS - except Novice upgrading changes - see E8. Competitor to supply number and holder. E2 Age of Horses and Ponies Age is determined from 1 August. Yearling born since 31 July year old born since 31 July year old born since 31 July year old born since 31 July 2012 E3 The Committee reserves the right to alter conditions, or the order of events, or cancel events, entirely at its own discretion. If too many entries are received in any Class the Committee may ballot or otherwise reduce the number. And likewise if there are insufficient entries in classes, they may be combined. E4 Late Entries. Late entries refer to Completion of Entry Forms at the front of this Schedule.

4 Refunds of Entry Fees E5 The Council of the Auckland A&P Association reserves the right to recognize the refund of entry fees at a rate of 75% upon submission of the refund/scratching form with a) a veterinary or doctors certificate, or b) a written explanation as to the reason for the request WITHIN FIVE DAYS following the completion of the competition (no refunds will be considered after this period). The Association s decision shall be final. A refund/scratching form is included in this schedule. No refunds will be available for Yarding, Stables, Admin Fee or Catalogues. All requests for scratching must be in written form i.e. , fax or postal post. No verbal scratching requests will be accepted. Newcomer, was Novice as at 1 August 2015 All wins in Novice Section within each division count and must be recorded. Should a Novice horse win an open conformation class including Ladies and Gents Classes, these wins must also be recorded. Once a horse has achieved 6 wins in either the conformation Classes or paced and mannered Classes, this horse is not eligible to return to Novice status should it change Sections at the beginning of a new Show season excludes Lead Rein and First Ridden. A Novice is a Horse or Pony which has not won 6 first in conformation Classes at any A&P Show, at the time of the Show. (Ladies and Gentlemen s Hack class wins count as an Open Conformation Class). A Novice in Paced and Mannered Classes is a Horse or Pony which has not won 6 firsts in Paced and/or Mannered Classes at an A&P Show at the time of the Show. Novice Champions are not eligible for Open Championships unless they have won their Open Class, nor are they eligible for Supreme Award. Championship award does not count as a win. Novices may enter Open Classes. Novice ponies may be ridden by riders of any age in Novice Classes only. In Open Section the stated age applies. Substitutions E6 Substitutions must be advised in writing by 12 noon 21st March A substitution form is included in this schedule. The substitution must be owned by the exhibitor. Electronic Devices E7 It is an offence for any electronic or audio equipment deemed possible to provide external assistance to an exhibitor to be carried on an exhibitor in the show ring. Penalties may include forfeiting all prize money, awards and qualification and elimination from any further Classes at that Show. E9 No distinguishing mark of ownership or stud name, with the exception of registered brands, may be attached to the animal exhibited or the handler. In Hand Horses & Ponies E10 In Led Classes breeding must be shown on the entry form. E11 Horse must be presented for judging in the required manner. E12 For In Hand Classes all stock to be led clockwise with the attendant on the near side. Attendants are requested to be suitably attired when parading horses in the ring. No-one under 16 can lead a large animal. Stallions E13 Stallions when led should be controlled by a colt bit with a single lead, or a chain over the nose attached to a single lead with the exception of miniatures. Stallions are not to be tied up unattended unless appropriately confined. It is recommended that stallions be kept in stables or approved suitable yards. At the time of entry, all stallion owners must either be in possession of, or apply for at time of entry, a stallion identification badge, which must be displayed at the stable and on the horse at all times while at the Show. Mares E14 Mares shown in Brood Mare Classes must have a foal at foot or present a veterinary certificate of pregnancy that includes a projected foaling date. Dry Mare is a mare not to foal during current Show season (1 August to 31 July). Saddle Horses & Ponies E15 No horse or pony under 3 years of age is permitted to be shown under saddle. E16 In no case may horses or ponies be ridden outside the designated area. E17 No change of rider will be allowed in any horse or pony Classes after once entering the ring for that class, except in exceptional cases when consent of the judge or Chief Horse Steward must be obtained. E24 A horse or pony being eligible for a Championship must be ridden by the same rider as in the Class or Classes in which it qualified unless the permission of the Chief Horse Steward has been obtained. In the case of a rider qualifying more than one pony, a second rider may be found. E25 The age of the rider is taken as at 1 August Riders on open ponies are to be under 17 years of age. E26 Judges are directed to award prizes only to Horses which they consider free from hereditary unsoundness. In all Classes LATECOMERS will not be accepted into the Ring for judging. Measuring E27 There will be no measuring during the Show. All stock to be measured must be measured prior to the event and class changes notified immediately. The onus is on the exhibitor to enter the correct class. E28 Youngstock Measures issued after 1 August are valid until 31 January of the following year. Measured issued after 1 January are valid till 31 July of the same year. Judging & Presentation of Exhibits E8 Exhibitors must have their entries ready for judging at the times stated, or they will be liable for disqualification.

5 Stabling E29 Parking is available on a daily basis for local exhibitors trucks and cars with floats, with horses able to be tied to floats in the designated area. Note: stabling is available. E30 Applications must be made at time of entry using stabling form in Schedule. E31 Application must be restricted to a stable for each horse exhibited. Stables are not to be used for storing gear, feed etc. If a horse/pony is scratched, the exhibitor must notify the stabling supervisor for the stable to be reallocated. E32 Preference for boxes is given to Stallions, Colts, Brood Mares with Foals, Young stock, and exhibitors from a Distance. Stallion boxes must have sign denoting STALLION on outside of box. E33 The Association does not guarantee to provide horse accommodation as the number of stables is limited on the grounds, however, there will additional stabling if needed close by. E34 All yards and stables must be mucked out and left clean upon vacating show. It is the Exhibitor s responsibility to keep the stable/yard and the area outside clean and tidy. Exhibitors are asked to notify the Secretary at the Equestrian Show Office if stable is not clean. Drainage grates must not be removed. Stabling allocations will be posted at the stables. There will be NO SMOKING. Unloading of Horses & Vehicle Parking E35 Horse floats are to park in designated parking areas. Toilets will be available in Stabling Complex. Award of Championships E36 Champion and Reserve Champion will be selected as follows: First Prize winners in all eligible Classes to be paraded before the Judge. Once the Champion has been selected, the animal with second prize from the same class as the Champion shall parade with the others for Reserve Champion. The Royal Easter Show, Supreme Champion Sashes Champion and Reserve Champion sashes will be awarded. Prize Money & Sponsorships All Class and Award Sponsorships are subject to confirmation. Prize Money as stated will be paid in full but is not payable in addition to sponsorship. All prize money will be paid by cheque after the Show. Any prize money cheques not presented by the end of September 2016 will be forfeited.
