First Aid will be in attendance. The organisers of the show have taken all reasonable precautions to ensure the HEALTH & SAFETY of everyone present. For these measures to be effective, everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring, and they must obey the instructions of the organisers and all officials and stewards. No responsibility will be accepted by the organisers for any loss, damage, illness or injury sustained by the exhibitors, riders, or their animals and entries are accepted on this basis. Anyone on a horse must wear a hard hat. Grooms must wear a hat when in the ring. 2 Classes 1, 2, 5, 6, 8-10, 15-18, 22 are qualifiers for Horse of the Year Show at NEC Birmingham (Wednesday 7th Sunday 11 th October 2015). The entry fees in these classes include a 11 Horse of the Year Show contribution. N.B. Additional Horse of the Year Show entry forms can be downloaded from or HUNTER CLASSES Classes and 22 are qualifying events for Horse of the Year Show 2015 and only horses registered with the British Show Horse Association ( ) are eligible to enter. In Horse of the Year Show qualifiers, Horse of the Year Show rules take precedence. Registration numbers must be quoted on the entry form, and owners and riders must be members of the British Show Horse Association. The highest placed unqualified horse in the first three in classes 15-18, 22 will qualify to enter at Horse of the Year Show. No horse lower than third in its class will qualify. AMATEUR STATUS: A person is an amateur for showing purposes when showing ridden hunters in an amateur class if he or she does not: a) Engage in, livery, buying, selling, dealing or hiring horses as a means of deriving a main source of income since 1 st January b) Accept remuneration whether it be monetary or goods in kind for employment in connection with horses in a racing, showing, livery stable or riding school. (Instruction at Pony Club or Riding Club excepted) since 1 st January c) Show a horse owned or sponsored by a company or commercial firm or a horse for which his or her immediate family accepts livery or training charges from a person outside the immediate concern since 1 st January d) Show a horse which a professional rider has ridden in any ridden hunter or sport horse class during the current year, unless the horse has subsequently registered under new ownership with the exception of Working Hunter & Ladies classes. e) Professional show persons must not enter the Amateur Ring whilst the classes are in progress. A professional show person is another term for a professional producer and as such a professional groom who works for a producer can enter the ring to groom. f) A professional rider must not ride or exercise an amateur s horse on the day it is competing in amateur classes. HACK, COB & RIDING HORSE CLASSES Held under the rules of the British Show Horse Association ( ). Horses must be registered with the Association and all owners, exhibitors and riders must be Association members. Riders must be 15 years of age or older. Registration numbers must be quoted on entry form. No entry will be accepted unless accompanied by the Registration Numbers. Classes 1, 2, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10 are qualifying classes for Horse of the Year Show In Horse of the Year Show qualifiers, Horse of the Year Show rules take precedence. The first prize winner will qualify to compete at the final. If already qualified, the second will qualify. If the first and second are already qualified then the third will go forward and so forth to fifth place. Qualification will be verified by the Horse of the Year Show office. In accordance with BSHA rules the annual BSHA Horse of the Year Show fee of 15 must have been paid to BSHA before the entry is made if the exhibitor wishes to qualify. The BSHA Horse of the Year Show fee cannot be paid in retrospect. This fee is not the Horse of the Year Show contribution, which goes to Grandstand Media Ltd. Non members may purchase up to a maximum of two Day Tickets per exhibitor, per horse, per season. A Day Ticket will allow entry into Novice, Amateur, Home Produced and Working Classes only but will not allow entry into Horse of the Year Show qualifying classes. Horses registered on a Day Ticket do not require a JMB Height certificate. Competitors can apply for a Day Ticket by downloading an application form from the BSHA website Horses competing at the Horse of the Year Show and qualifying shows in the Hunter sections of 2

3 the Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain classes at their affiliated shows cannot compete in Hack, Cob and Riding Horse classes at the same show, on the same day and vice versa. This does not apply to SHB (GB) Ridden Sport Horse classes. The three highest placed prize winners in all open affiliated classes will qualify to compete in the BSHA Classic Supreme Classes at the National Championship Show at Addington in September 2015 The BSHA offers a Novice, Young Rider and Amateur rosette in each open class and a Champion rosette for each section. Virbac Ltd, are committed to supporting horse owners through the innovative 3D Worming concept, will issue the HOYS qualified Cob in each class with a qualification rosette and card. This will not be presented in the ring but will be forwarded by post. Confirmation of qualification for HOYS will come as a separate letter by post. More information can be obtained from AMATEUR CLASSES AMATEUR STATUS: A person is an amateur for the purposes of classes run under Association Rules if he / she does not, during the current or previous season: (i)engage in breeding, livery, buying, selling, dealing or hiring horses in a commercial capacity. (ii)received remuneration for employment in connection with horses in racing, showing, livery stable or riding school (instruction at Pony Club or Riding Club excepted). This does not include the suppliers of ancillary services such as farriers and vets. (iii)own/part own an equestrian establishment including but not limited to riding schools, events centre, stud or livery yard in any capacity, or receive any form of remuneration for employment at an equestrian establishment. For the avoidance of doubt for the purpose of this rule, immediate family members of an owner or part owner of an equestrian establishment who work or are howsoever otherwise engaged or involved in any capacity, whether or not for remuneration at the equestrian establishment, will be treated as being an owner of that equestrian establishment. (iv) Show a horse owned or sponsored by a company or commercial firm, in any showing classes, BSHA or otherwise, or a horse for which his/her immediate family accepts livery or training charges from a person outside the immediate family concerned. (v)a competitor is not eligible to compete in amateur classes on an Exhibit which has been ridden by a Professional Rider in any Open classes, BSHA or otherwise, with the exception of Open Working Show Horse and Side Saddle classes, during the current year, unless the horse has subsequently been re registered under new Ownership. On the day when an Exhibit is competing in an Amateur class, Professionals are not allowed to ride or work in the relevant animal. No Professional Producers are allowed into the ring to groom/strip the Horse. This does not exclude amateur owner/home produced riders from having lessons at any time with an instructor, provided the horse remains stabled at home. No Professional Producers are allowed into the ring to groom/strip the Horse. Class 11 is a qualifiers for the BSHA Grass Roots Training Championship which will be held at the BSHA National Championship Show in September. The two highest placed Horses not already qualified in the top four which fulfil the criteria of the BSHA Grass Roots Training classes will qualify. JUDGES: Mr M Lawrence (R) Mrs A Leaver (C) Class 21: Novice Hunter, mare or gelding 4 years and over not having won a first prize value of 60 or a total of 200 (or equivalent values) in prize money in any SHB(GB) affiliated ridden hunter classes at home or abroad before 1 January 2015 excepting prize money awarded in Four Year old classes only. This does not apply to Novice Working Hunter Classes. Any horse that qualifies for Horse of the Year Show in a Ridden Hunter Class (not including Working Hunter Classes) will not be eligible to compete in novice classes from 1 st January 2015, but horses that qualified for Horse of the Year Show as a 4 year old are exempt. RING THREE CLASSES START AT 8AM AND WILL FOLLOW ON WORKING HUNTER CLASSES Course Builder: Amanda Routledge (nee Cole) There will be a change of course between the Open, Restricted, Novice and Amateur classes. Any horse which has qualified as a Grade A Showjumper or Advanced Event Horse as at 1 st January is not eligible to compete in Working Hunter Classes. THE MAXIMUM TOTAL POINTS AVAILABLE IS 100- THIS IS MADE UP OF: JUMPING POINTS = MAX 40 POINTS. STYLE & PRESENCE WHILST JUMPING = MAX 20 POINTS. RIDE = MAX 20 POINTS. CONFORMATION= 20 POINTS. Horses with minus scores may not be required for the second phase of the class at the discretion of the judge. Fences to be a minimum of eight and a maximum of twelve in number. Maximum height 3'9" mtrs (Novice class- min height mtrs max 3 3 ;1.00mtr Amateur and Restricted classes- max height mtrs) at the discretion of the judges. There must be a change of course between Novice, Restricted Open and Open Working Hunter classes. Working Hunters may compete hors concours in novice and restricted working hunter classes in the jumping phase only at the discretion of the show secretary but the horse cannot compete in any other working hunter classes for the duration of that show. All obstacles are numbered. Fences should have a natural presence and not be easily dislodged. The manner of going to be taken into account. No change of rider or tack will be allowed (unless a horse is ridden side saddle, in which cases in order to allow the judge to ride, the saddle may be changed for the riding phase only). No hind boots or bandages of any description are allowed in the collecting ring, warm up or in the actual class. 8

9 On completion of the jumping phase ALL CLEAR ROUNDS and any other horses the judges may require, should be asked to return to the ring. If a horse positively stops or turns its quarters to a fence or has a complete turnaround, these constitute refusals. If a horse jumps the incorrect fence out of a pen or lane it will be eliminated. Horses displaying continued disobedience or horses leaving the ring whether mounted or dismounted will be eliminated. In the event of a horse falling during a class that horse will be asked to leave the ring and will not be allowed to compete further in that class. Exhibitors will be allowed to compete two horses in a Working Hunter Class but following the jumping phase it will be up to the exhibitor to select ONLY ONE horse to take forward into the ridden and conformation section if required. Working Hunter courses are not to be walked by competitors until the judge has given permission. Whenever possible shows should announce the marks as they are awarded throughout the class. Competitors MUST wear a skull cap or hat and safety harness, according to the current BSI or European standard at all times in the Jumping phase of class Skull caps must have a navy blue or black cover. HORSE OF THE YEAR SHOW CUDDY WORKING HUNTER QUALIFIER CLASS JUDGES: Mr J Poole (R) Mr JC Gilliver (C) Class 22: Cuddy Working Hunter of the Year, mare, gelding or stallion (Competing stallions must wear a red, white or blue ribbon displayed in their tail) 4 years and over exceeding 148cms (14.2hh approx). Horses must not have won more than 25 BE points or 200 BSJA Show Jumping at home or equivalent abroad before 1 January THE BSPS RUTH LEARS CHALLENGE FOR NOVICE WORKING HUNTERS: the first three competitors will qualify for the final to be held at BSPS Summer Championship Show on 26th-29th August Qualifiers do not have to be BSPS members to compete. 10 WORKING SHOW HORSE CLASS JUDGE: Class 26: Mr J Poole Working Show Horse, Open to Hacks, Cobs/Maxi Cobs and Riding Horses, mare or gelding 4 years and over exceeding 148cms (14.2hh approx). This class is a qualifier for The SEIB Working Show Horse Final, to be held at the BSHA National Championship Show. The two highest placed horses in the top five, not already qualified in each Open Working Show Horse Class, will qualify for the Final; no Horse placed lower than fifth will qualify. Entries can be made on a BSHA Day Ticket -but to qualify for the Final; Owner and Rider must be registered with the Association. For further conditions of entry, please refer to Rule 2.(A)(iv) and Rule 9 in the 2015 BSHA Rule Book available on line, together with all Registration Forms at THE RoR/TBA (THOROUGHBRED BREEDERS ASSOCIATION) RETRAINED RACEHORSE CHALLENGE JUDGES: Mrs J Hubbard (R) Mr N Oliver (C) Class 27: The Retrained Racehorse Challenge Thoroughbred mare or gelding 4 years and over any height. Riders must be 15 years or over on 1 st January. The first three to qualify for the final at Royal Windsor Horses to be ridden in any suitable bridle and should be plaited. All entries MUST be registered with RoR ( ) and RACED in GB. There will be a prize for the highest placed veteran 15 years or over. Horses will NOT be ridden by the judge. Competitors must wear a safety/kite mark hard hat with a chinstrap. All those entering horses and/or participating in the show agree to be bound by the Retraining of Racehorse Rules and Regulations from time to time in force. Racing injuries and blemishes ARE IGNORED in this series. The class to be judged 50% jumping 15% Style while jumping and performance. 20% awarded for Individual show and 15% suitability to be retrained. PHASE 1- Jumping to be judged: 6 rustic jumps (2 9 ) with 2 optional bonus fences (3 3 ). The following points to be deducted at the end of each jumping round: 4 points to be deducted for a knock down. 4 points to be deducted for a refusal. 8 points for a second refusal. 3 refusals at any fence elimination. 50 marks maximum (5 each fence for 6 fences and 10 for each bonus fence if bonus fence jumped clear). 15 marks style and performance while jumping. PHASE 2 Class returns without boots and judged for an individual show/conformation. (In some classes, at the judge s discretion, horses might be asked to do a show following their jumping without leaving the ring. This is often a case with a large number in the class). Each horse to complete an individual show of no longer than one and a half minutes to include the following movements: Walk, Trot, Canter showing change of leg, extended canter, halt and stand, walk off on long rein. Total marks out of 20 (to include performance, amount of retraining, suitability to diversify). Each horse to be presented in front of the judge, ridden and prior to phase 2 for suitability to be retrained. Total 15. Racing injuries and blemishes will be IGNORED. 11 RING FOUR CLASSES WILL START AT 1PM APPROX RETRAINED RACEHORSE CLASSES The Tattersalls, RoR / The Jockey Club RoR Novice Thoroughbred Show Series 2015 These classes will be run the rules of RoR. All those entering horses and/or participating in the show agree to be bound by the Retraining of Racehorse Rules and Regulations from time to time in force. All entries MUST be registered with RoR and RACED in GB. Please be aware that the show will split the class on the horse s last run in a race (NH or Flat) or will provide 2 ride judges should entries exceed 20 - Please mark your entry form accordingly. Competitors must wear a safety/kite mark hard hat with a chinstrap. Horses should be ridden in a snaffle, pelham or simple double bridle. Horses should be plaited. Racing injuries and blemishes are NOT ignored in this series. JUDGES: Mrs J Hubbard (Ride/Perf) Mr N Oliver (C) Class 28: The Jockey Club RoR Novice Thoroughbred Ridden Show Horse Class Thoroughbred mare or gelding 4 years and over any height. To take part in this class, the horse must NOT have won any RoR qualifier, (including SEIB/HOYS, TARRA, TATTERSALLS, JOCKEY CLUB NOVICE OR TBA CHALLENGE qualifier or any other open show class). Riders must be 15 years or over on 1 st January. The first three go forward to the championship at the Aintree National Showing Show, August Horses will NOT be ridden by the judge; each horse to complete an individual show of no longer than one and a half minutes to include the following movements: Walk, Trot, Canter showing change of leg, extended canter, halt and stand, walk off on long rein. Horses will be stripped for conformation. Class 29: The Tattersalls and RoR Thoroughbred Ridden Show Horse Class Thoroughbred mare or gelding 4 years and over any height. The first three go forward to the championship at the Hickstead Derby Meeting in There will be a prize for the highest placed veteran 15 years or over. Horses will be ridden by the judge. 11
