4 What s On TV? 4 You just turned on the TV. What s showing on the current channel? There are a few ways you can find out. 1. Press the Info button one time for information on the current show. (figure 1) 2. Press the Info button a second time for a full description of the current show. (figure 2) 3. Press the Info button a third time to exit the info screen. Or, press the Exit button. Or, press the Yellow button. Figure 1 OR 1. Press the OK button one time to view the Zapper Bar. The Zapper Bar shows the name of the show that is on now and what will be on next. (figure 3). 2. Press the Right Arrow to see what is showing next on that channel. 3. Press the Up Arrow to see what is on the channel above or press the Down Arrow to see what is on the channel below. 4. Press OK again to select the channel listed in the Zapper Bar. Figure 2 Figure 3

5 What s On TV? 5 You just turned on the TV. What s on? Check out the Guide for a full listing of programming. 1. Press the Guide button one time to access the Time Guide. 2. Use the Up and Down Arrows to view information for different channels. Time Guide 3. Use the Right and Left Arrows to view programming information for different times. 4. To preview the selected program that is currently airing while still in the guide, press OK. If you are looking ahead in the guide to see what is showing later in the day, when you press OK, an Alert will be set for the selected program. 5. To move ahead in the Time Guide 24 hours, press the Green button. Or, press the Day +/- key on the remote control. 6. To change the display order of the channels, press the Blue button. This will change the sort to different categories such as alphabetical, by entertainment, sports, etc. Time Guide Sorted in Alphabetical Order 7. Press the Guide button a second time to access the Channel Guide. 8. Use the Up and Down Arrows to select a channel. 9. Use the Right and Left Arrows to move between the Channels list and the Program listing. Use the Channel Guide Up and Down Arrows to move through the Channels list or through the Program listing. 10. To preview the selected program while still in the guide, either press the Red button or press the OK button. Press the Green button to go back one screen. Press the Yellow button to exit the guide and tune to the channel currently being previewed. If you are looking ahead in the guide to see what is showing later in the day, when you press OK, an Alert will be set for the selected program.

6 Go Ahead Play Favorites 6 Let s face it, you play Favorites. There is a list of channels that you always end up watching. So, create a list of Favorite channels that you like to surf and leave the other channels out of the way. 1. Press the Menu button to access the Main Menu. 2. Use the Down Arrow to move to My Settings. 3. Use the Right Arrow to move to the list of My Settings options. 4. Use the Down Arrow to move to the Favorite Channels option. 5. Press the OK button. The Favorite Lists will appear. 6. While in the Favorite Lists, use the Up and Down Arrows to move between Favorite Lists 1-8. When you have selected the appropriate Favorite List, press the Right Arrow to access the Channel List. 7. In the Channel List, use the Up and Down Arrows to move through the channels. Press OK, or press the Blue button to select the channel as part of the Favorite list (an X will appear in the box next to the channel). Press the Blue button a second time to remove the mark. 8. When you have selected all channels you want in this Favorite list, press the Red button to Store the list. 9. Press the Yellow button to Exit the Favorite menu.

7 Surf Using Your Favorite List 7 To surf through your Favorite List, choose the Favorite list you want to use. 1. Press the FAV button one time to access the Favorite lists. The first list you access will be named ALL showing all channels. 2. Press the Right Arrow to move to the next Favorite list. 3. Press Exit to exit the Favorites menu while in the selected Favorites list. For example, if you are viewing Favorite 1 list when you press Exit, you will surf through just the channels listed as part of Favorite If you press the OK button to display the Zapper bar, you can see that you are in Favorite mode.

8 Block Out Channels Using Channel Locks 8 You can lock out channels so that a PIN is required to view programming on that channel. 1. Press the Menu button to access the Main Menu. 2. Arrow down to choose My Settings. 3. Use the Right Arrow to move to the My Settings options list. Use the Up and Down Arrows to move between the My Settings options. 4. Highlight Channel Locks and press either the Red button or the OK button. 5. When prompted, enter the PIN required to access Channel Locks. 6. Use the Up and Down Arrows to move between the available channels. When you arrive at a channel that you want to lock, press the Blue button, or press the OK button. An X will appear in the box before the channel number. To unlock the channel, press the Blue button again. 7. When you have locked all channels you wish to lock, press the Red button to Store the information. To exit without saving your changes, press the Yellow button. When you attempt to view a locked channel, you will be prompted to key in a PIN number.

9 Prevent Blocked Channels from Showing in the Guide 9 If you have blocked specific channels, you can go one step further and prevent them from showing in your channel guide. You can still tune to the blocked channel by entering the channel number with the remote control number keys and then enter the PIN when prompted. 1. Press the Menu button to access the Main Menu. 2. Arrow down to choose My Settings. 3. Use the Right Arrow to move to the My Settings options list. Use the Up and Down Arrows to move between the My Settings options. 4. Highlight General Options and press either the Red button or the OK button. 5. Arrow down to choose Show Locked. Use the right/left arrow keys to choose No. 6. Press the Red button to Store the information. Or, press the Yellow button to Exit without saving changes.

10 Set Parental Ratings 10 You may set Parental Ratings for the types of programming that are available for viewing. You may set Parental Ratings for both TV Ratings and for Age Ratings which typically apply to movies. 1. Press the Menu button to access the Main Menu. 2. Arrow down to choose My Settings. 3. Use the Right Arrow to move to the My Settings options list. Use the Up and Down Arrows to move between the My Settings options. 4. Highlight Parental Rating option and press either the Red button or the OK button. 5. When prompted, enter the PIN to access the Parental Rating settings. 6. The Age Rating setting will be highlighted. Use the Left and Right Arrows to select the desired Age Rating. If you select PG as your Age Rating, only programming rated lower than PG will be available for viewing without a PIN code. 7. Use the Up and Down Arrows to move to the TV Ratings. Use the Left and Right Arrows to select the desired TV Rating. If you select TV-G as your TV Rating, only programming rated lower than TV-G will be available for viewing without a PIN code. 8. Press the Red button to Store the information. Or, press the Yellow button to Exit without saving changes. If you attempt to preview a program in the Program Guide that is not within your allowed viewing range, you will see a message telling you so. If you attempt to tune to a channel showing a program that is not within your allowed viewing range, you will be prompted to enter a PIN Code to view the program.

11 Set the Auto-Tune Timer 11 You may use the Auto-Tune Timer to automatically tune to a specific channel at a certain time of day. This might be used to record programming using a VCR or other recording device. 1. Press the Menu button to access the Main Menu. 2. Select My TV. 3. Use the Right Arrow to move to the My TV options list. Use the Up and Down Arrows to move between the My TV options. 4. Highlight the Auto-Tune Time options and press the OK button. 5. The Auto-Tune List will display. Press the Red button on the remote control to Add an entry to the list. Using the Left and Right Arrows, select the Frequency (once, daily or weekly). 6. Press the Down Arrow to select Start Date. Use the Left and Right Arrows to change the desired Start Date. 7. Press the Down Arrow to select Start Time. Using the number keys, set the Start Time. To change from AM to PM, press the Left or Right Arrows. 8. Press the Down Arrow to select Channel. Use the number keys to set the desired channel. Only channels available in the lineup may be entered. If an invalid channel is entered, it will detect and use the first valid channel with a higher channel number than the one entered.

12 Changing the General Options Press the Menu button to access the Main Menu. 2. Arrow down to choose My Settings. 3. Use the Right Arrow to move to the My Settings options list. Use the Up and Down Arrows to move between the My Settings options. 4. Highlight General Options and press either the Red button or the OK button. 5. The following outlines the General Options and default settings: Info Bar Duration Default: 6 sec Options: 1, 3, 6, 9, 12 Amount of time programming information displays on the screen. Guide View Default: Time Options: Time or Channel Changes the default format of the channel guide. Audio Language Default: English Options: English or Spanish Choose between English or Spanish audio. If Spanish audio is selected and no Spanish audio is available for the program, English audio will play. Audio Mode Default: AC3 Options: AC3, PCM, Both Select the type of audio to be used by the Digital Audio Out jack on the set-top box. Most modern audio equipment will accept AC3 audio, and AC3 audio will provide the best sound experience. Close Caption Default: Off Options: Off or On Turn on or off closed captioning.

13 Changing the General Options 13 HD Output Default: 720p Options: 720p, 1080i, Auto This option selects the format of HD video that is output on the set-top box HD video output jacks (component / HDMI outputs). You will normally choose a setting that matches the native resolution of your HD TV. When 720p or 1080i is selected, the set-top box will perform any conversion necessary to change the original network video signal to the selected format. If the Auto mode is selected, then the HD signal output by the set-top box will match the format of the original network video signal. Your HD TV can then convert the signal if necessary. Conversion Mode Default: Letter Box Options: Pan Scan, Letter This option specifies how video that does not match your Display Type aspect ratio is converted and displayed on your TV screen. For example, if you have a 16:9 TV display and are tuning to a program that is transmitted in a 4:3 aspect ratio, should that program be stretched to fit your screen, or not stretched and displayed in its original size. Refer to the following chart to see how different display type and conversion mode settings interact. Display Type Default: 4:3 Select the aspect ratio of your Options: 4:3 or 16:9 Box, Fit TV display. The aspect ratio is the ratio of width-to-height of the TV screen. HD TV displays normally have a width-to-height aspect ratio of 16:9. Non-HD TV displays typically have an aspect ratio of 4:3. Show Locked Default: No Options: Yes or No Determine if channels that have been locked through Parental Controls should show in the channel guide.

Channel Guide See what s on this channel. Time Guide See what s on TV. Alert List Set the TV to alert you when a program begins. Auto Tune List Set the TV to automatically tune to a specific channel at a certain time of day.
